Graduates must stop by Commencement Check-In to receive their reader cards and other important information. Students receiving honors may also pick up their university medallion or honor cord, to be worn at Commencement and Degree Presentation Ceremonies on Saturday.

Please contact departments directly with specific questions.

Accessible parking for guests with disabilities is available in front of the LaHaye Student Union. Valid handicapped parking credentials are required.

If you are unable to attend Commencement Check-In, please email Commencement@liberty.edu for further instructions.

PROFESSIONAL GRADUATE PORTRAITS

The official Commencement photographer, GradImages, will offer professional portraits for graduates in their regalia. Photos will be taken at Commencement Check-In. Graduates are encouraged to bring their own regalia but may use provided regalia.

MILITARY SPOUSE GRADUATE RECOGNITION CEREMONY

All graduating military spouses are invited to attend this special ceremony held in their honor. Military spouses provide tremendous support to our service members and are an integral part of military families.

BACCALAUREATE SERVICE

6 P.M. | VINES CENTER

The faculty procession will begin promptly at 5:35 p.m. There will not be a student procession; however, there is no assigned seating, so you are encouraged to arrive early and sit with your family. A sign language interpreter will be available for those sitting in section 118. Wheelchair accessible seating is at the top of the seating area.

Graduates are welcome to wear their regalia to the Baccalaureate Service, but they are not required to do so.

Guests planning to stream the Baccalaureate Service live are encouraged to visit Liberty.edu/Baccalaureate-Live and follow the link to test the connectivity of their browsers prior to the event.

MILITARY GRADUATE RECOGNITION CEREMONY

7:30 P.M. | VINES CENTER

All graduating Liberty service members, veterans, and their families, as well as military faculty and staff members, are invited to the Military Graduate Recognition Ceremony. Our keynote address will be delivered by the director of the Center for Chaplaincy, retired Chaplain, Col. Steven E. Keith, U.S. Air Force. Additionally, all graduating service members and veterans will be presented with a Challenge Coin, a cherished tradition at Liberty University.

Attire is military dress uniform or Commencement regalia.

Saturday

details TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING Please anticipate heavy traffic on Saturday morning (especially from 7:30-8:30 a.m.) and between Degree Presentation Ceremonies in the afternoon.

Graduates and guests should park in the zone nearest the Degree Presentation Ceremony they are attending. Signs will be posted to direct drivers to applicable degree ceremony parking.

Guests are encouraged to park in one spot for the day and use the campus shuttles. Shuttle service will be available from 7 a.m. until all ceremonies are complete. Designated shuttle pick-up and drop-off locations will be marked with signs. See map for locations.

Accessible parking for guests with disabilities is available in the Speakman lot, behind the Liberty University Barnes & Noble Bookstore. Please alert a traffic officer if you need to use this lot.

Valid handicapped parking credentials are required. See map for locations and directions.

SEATING The gates of Williams Stadium will open at 7 a.m. It is recommended that guests be seated before the student procession begins at 8:45 a.m.

Seating for the hearing-impaired will be located to the left of the stage in the bottom rows of stands.

Accessible seating for guests with disabilities will be located on the Williams Stadium Tower Concourse.

GRADUATE PROCESSION All graduates should arrive at the football practice field between 7:30 and 8 a.m. The procession will be led by Liberty University staff into Williams Stadium. It will not be organized alphabetically. • It is recommended that you wear sunscreen and comfortable shoes. • Military dress uniforms are acceptable as an alternative to Commencement regalia.

The practice field is adjacent to the Football Operations Center. Access the fields from Evans Boulevard.

COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

DEGREE PRESENTATION CEREMONIES Each Degree Presentation Ceremony is hosted by the individual school/college or department awarding the degree and will vary slightly in format.

Graduates will receive more specific instructions upon arrival.

There will be a professional photographer at each Degree Presentation Ceremony taking pictures of graduates as they walk across the stage.

Visit the Commencement website to register with GradImages for graduation photos.

Guests may take photographs from their seats but are asked not to impede the walking graduates.

Please park in the zone nearest to your Degree Presentation Ceremony (see pages 12-13). If your assigned lot is full, please proceed to Parking Zone 3. Electronic signs will indicate if lots are full.

Transit will be available continuously throughout the day. If you are assigned to the lots designated by in Parking Zone 2, be aware that once the lots are full, transit will no longer be offered but will be diverted to Parking Zone 3 and the Parking Garage. Return service will be available to all locations. For patrons riding the Zone 2 shuttle in the morning, afternoon return trips from Williams Stadium will pick up on Liberty University Drive, which is between Williams Stadium and the Hancock Welcome Center.

After the main ceremony at Williams Stadium, University Boulevard will close to through traffic for approximately 20 minutes while pedestrians exit the stadium.

ceremonies Following the Commencement Ceremony at 10 a.m., graduates will proceed to the Degree Presentation Ceremony of their specific school/college or department where they will be individually recognized, and doctoral students will be hooded.

Bring the reader card obtained at Friday's Check-In to the ceremonies on Saturday. This will be used to recognize each graduate in their degree ceremony.

It is important for graduates to complete the information on the back of the reader cards.

General information CHILD CARE Free child care will be provided at Thomas Road Baptist Church in the Early Learning Center during the Baccalaureate Service on Friday, Commencement exercises on Saturday, and through the completion of the Degree Presentation Ceremonies. Child care will be available from 5-8:45 p.m. on Friday and will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday.

Children must be five years old or younger. Meals will not be provided. Parents must provide caregivers with a contact number by which they can be reached during Commencement Weekend.

DINING Several options for quick-service or seated dining will be available for breakfast and lunch on Liberty’s campus throughout the weekend. Vendors include: • LaHaye Ice Center Concessions (11 a.m.-5:30 a.m.)

• Liberty Baseball Stadium Concessions (11 a.m.-2:30 p.m.)

ITEMS ON SALE AT COMMENCEMENT REGALIA – You are encouraged to purchase your regalia well in advance of Commencement, but the Liberty University Barnes & Noble Bookstore will be open on Friday, May 13, and will open at 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, for any last-minute regalia needs.

COMMENCEMENT DVD ORDERS – Order your Commencement DVD at Check-In on Friday or at the Liberty University Bookstore throughout the weekend. DVDs are $15.98.

FLOWERS – Fresh flowers will be sold at the entrances of Williams Stadium on Saturday.

SELAH YEARBOOK – The 2016 SELAH Yearbook offers you both print and online options. Be sure to visit Liberty.edu/Yearbook for more information about each option, pricing details, and instructions on how to order.
