SHOWCASING RESEARCH. CAPTURING CREATIVITY. PROMOTING PUBLICATION. WHAT IS THE SCHOLARLY COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT? The Jerry Falwell Library Scholarly Communications Department supports a culture of research, scholarship, and creativity. The department sponsors research activities, hosts scholarly faculty Web pages, and publishes scholarship and creative works through the Digital Commons, Liberty’s online institutional repository. Our department’s mission includes: Showcasing Research • Publishing 2,000+ theses and dissertations in the Digital Commons and submitting them to a ProQuest database • Sharing faculty scholarship in the Digital Commons, including book chapters, conference presentations, journal articles, and course materials • Hosting events that highlight faculty and student scholarship Capturing Creativity • Archiving faculty and student creative works such as videos of fashion shows, paintings, sculptures, plays, and cinematography • Displaying these works in the Digital Commons and other platforms Promoting Publication • Providing direction for faculty to attain copyright permissions for digital publication of their scholarly works • Establishing and maintaining numerous Liberty University faculty and student journals

HOW CAN YOU SHARE YOUR SCHOLARLY WORKS? By using resources like the Digital Commons, the Scholarly Communications Department can help you share your scholarship. The Digital Commons stores over 7,000 items which have been downloaded over seven million times. This digital repository provides faculty and students with greater visibility by allowing their works to be accessible through popular search engines.
