Williams Stadium Clear Bag Policy
CLEAR BAG POLICY In an effort to enhance fan safety and expedite entrance to Williams Stadium, Liberty University has implemented a security screening process. This includes a clear bag policy that limits the size and type of bag that can be brought into the stadium by fans. The implementation of this measure is intended to enhance public safety while minimizing time spent searching bags at gate security checkpoints, thus easing access into the stadium.
Liberty’s clear bag policy has been in effect since 2016 and will be strictly enforced during the 2020 football season. The policy is consistent with the NFL’s current model. Only clear tote bags that do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” or one-gallon plastic freezer bags will be allowed in Williams Stadium. In addition, small handheld clutch purses no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” will be permitted. Spectators will also be able to carry other items into the stadium, such as binoculars, cameras, and smartphones.

VAN WAGNER AD
MY TRANSITION
TRISTAN SCHULTZ
I never pictured myself as a leader.
There was a time when I didn’t even consider myself a good football player. I had no recruiting interest during my high school years and zero offers on the table.
But I refused to quit.
I put my head down and went to work. Not many people believed in me on the journey. Frankly, I didn’t even believe in myself sometimes.
Yet, I continued to scratch and claw for every inch of improvement. I promised myself that I’d be ready when that opportunity finally came knocking.
And when it did, man, it changed everything.
Yes, the offer from Liberty University changed my life.
THE PACT WITH GOD I remember praying to God and promising to accept the first offer that came my way.
I was playing at Fork Union Military Academy at the time because I wasn’t really developed enough to play Division I football. The prep school gave me the time to develop my body, and it also helped improve my confidence at the next level.
Everything seemed to come easy after attending the academy.
The structure and discipline I took away from my time there didn’t only change me as a football player, but it also made me a better person.
I remember getting a visit at practice from former Liberty offensive line coach Dennis Wagner and being offered a scholarship. A lifetime of doubt culminated into that one life-changing moment for me. I had no words.
It was such an unbelievable moment. And yes, I kept my promise to God by accepting on the spot.
THE UNVEILING OF A CAREER PATH I didn’t join Liberty just to play football, though.
The opportunity to attend a great university also presented me with a chance to finally get my career path on track. I wanted to do project management as a construction leader with the hopes of one day starting my own company.
And my decision to keep pushing forward with my football career made it all possible. It’s crazy to think about how far I’ve come since high school. I essentially went from a timid football player with no leadership qualities to a Division I offensive lineman.
So much can change in such a short period of time.
No more looking down on myself.
I’m physically developed, mentally capable, and spiritually ready to take on the world.
MY TURN TO LEAD There’s no greater proof of my readiness than everything I’ve worked so hard to accomplish at Liberty.
I’ve already completed my undergraduate degree and started working towards a master’s in executive leadership. That success also extended onto the football field with me helping lead the Flames to a Bowl Game victory over Georgia Southern last season.

Speaking of, winning that bowl game has been my favorite experience so far at Liberty. It was the biggest win I’d ever experienced as a football player. Just looking around the field and seeing pure joy on the faces of all of my teammates was a moment I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. No question!
Those are the moments you live for as a student-athlete.
It’s a moment that could have easily never existed for me if I took a different path. I’d still be out there somewhere wondering what I wanted to do with my life.
Liberty came knocking when I needed them the most, and I thank God every single day for giving me the strength to open the door.
