A LIGHT ON THE MOUNTAIN
Recently, a severe storm called a derecho ripped through the campus of Liberty University, resulting in 80 mph winds. As a result of the storm, nearly 30,000 people were left without power in the city of Lynchburg alone, putting the strength of the community to the test. Liberty University and Thomas Road Baptist Church led the
response providing shelter, food, and water to those displaced by the storm. Liberty also opened the residence halls on campus to help with additional housing. Liberty Mountain wasn’t the only place where relief was found. Around the Lynchburg area, neighbors came together, and realized strength through trial.
With new friendships forged and power restored to the Blue Ridge area, take this opportunity to spend time with your family and new friends watching Saturday Movie Night with the Liberty Channel; wholesome entertainment you can count on.
“Many of our staff toiled all weekend long without power at home to make dorms, laundry and dining facilities at Liberty available to the public this week when our area was hit by a storm that devastated the Lynchburg community. I never cease to be amazed at their dedication and willingness to serve others.”
Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr.
