Wamuyu: The Unmarried Gikuyu 10th Daughter.

WWamuyu aka Warigia aka Wanjugu was the Gikuyu daughter of Mumbi who according to legend did’t marry. This post speculates on the reasons she did not marry.

According to the existing myths of the tribe, Gikuyu and Mumbi the first parents of the tribe bore nine plus one daughters and no sons. This was at their home at Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga in Muranga. Gikuyu then prayed to God and God asked him to make a burnt offering of a goat under the Mukuyu tree and return in the morning. On return the following morning he found nine young men waiting whom he took to his daughters and each took one for a husband. These nine went on to establish what are the cornerstones of the tribe the nine plus one clans. The clans are ‘nine with the fill’ not because Wamuyu’s clan, the Aicakamuyu was the fill but because the Gikuyu do not count their offspring exactly for fear they might perish. The myth is not clear whether there were actually nine young men or ten. Remember the Gikuyu will not count exact numbers of people or livestock due to superstition. So it is not at all clear whether Wamuyu refused to marry because there was no husband for her or because she had to wait as some people who tell the myth say that she was too young to marry.

I am a great fan of folk tales and myths and I have come to understand that most of them contain a very powerful meaning once deconstructed. Take the story of little Red Riding Hood and the wolf. A mere tale to amuse children? Nay! It is the story of maturation and initiation according to some writers. “Take care little girl, men are wolves” Or take the story of Beauty and the Beast. Isn’t it a teaching to young girls to beware of judging their future spouses by mere externals and looks?

In order to deconstruct the story of Wamuyu, we have to understand the dynamics of family life as presented by the first family. Look at

them. They have nine grown up women who are all married to “goats” They shortly all go away one after another with their husbands to settle elsewhere. This aging couple had no son who could bring a young woman to take care of them. This was a serious matter as there were no old people’s homes then. One of the girls, certainly the one who either loved

them more than she loved herself or was favored of the father and mother must have decided – to hell with the “goat of a husband” and decided to stay and take care of the aging couple. This girl, Wamuyu, as she has been called, rather than being an outcast as some people have suggested was probably the most beloved, the most caring and possibly

the richest of the ten daughters of Mumbi as she would have inherited Gikuyu’s property. That is why even being single she is recognized as the mother of a full clan in its own right, the Aicakamuyu.

Kenya region, right in the middle, Ruto knows very very well that the buck stops with him. He has tasted the wrath of ICC and he will not allow himself back there.

So while the war mongers are busy threatening the opposition and breathing fire, Ruto is busy trying to fix the problem. And he will fix it. He will sacrifice the triad assembly of Gachagua,

e all have secrets that we harbor in our hearts of hearts thus secrets come in many forms. For other people theirs are worse than others. In the event they are blurted out they will surely cause wars. For that reason, if you know your secret is a weapon that will cause mass destruction never let it out. In fact, never divulge it to anyone lest you want to start and stir trouble. The moment you tag your issue as a secret it is best to keep it to yourself up to your grave.

Sharing it is the root cause that will have the ripple effect. Many people make the mistake of confiding in their close friends and relatives and also swearing them to secrecy. Not many people have the heart to follow instructions to boot. Unwillingly they end up spilling the beans when they find themselves intoxicated or put under pressure. However, we cannot dispel the fact the air of secrecy has an appealing effect. Its human nurture to be intrigued by wanting to know more even if it doesn’t concern you. Needless to mention, some secrets have torn families apart. That said, it’s a tricky situation to deal with other people’s secrets. Bottom line is deal with other people’s secrets as if they were yours. When somebody lets you on a secret they will be looking for an avenue to set their burned soul free. In other words, that person trusts you to do the right thing that they would have asked. In fact, nurture your personal relationships that there won’t be bad blood afterwards.

south Carolina is home to one of the nation’s most beautiful and affordable cities to call home, new rankings show.

Greenville earned a spot on a list of top 10 places that offer scenery at lower costs for residents, according to results published Monday, March 27.

“When considering where to live in the U.S., it’s more important than ever to assess both the affordability and beauty of a location, especially with housing and living costs steadily rising,”

Travel + Leisure magazine wrote in its report.

Greenville received recognition after the magazine said it considered two U.S. News & World Report rankings: the nation’s best and “most affordable places to live.” For those rankings, analysts used data from the federal government and other resources to consider costs of living, quality of life, jobs, population trends and public opinion about cities across the country.

Greenville was the only place in South Carolina to land in the top 10 of the Travel + Leisure list.

The Upstate city of about 72,000 people received a nod for having downtown amenities that have the potential to attract new residents.

Falls Park on the Reedy is a popular attraction in downtown Greenville.

“Greenville, situated at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains in South Carolina, is renowned for its lively downtown with exciting restaurants, unique boutiques, and picturesque views of Falls Park on the Reedy,” Travel + Leisure wrote.

Greenville is no stranger to earning spots on best-of lists. This year, its Falls Park on the Reedy ranked as one of the nation’s favorite parks, and Greenville County was named the No. 1 place to live in South Carolina.

During World War I, Greenville served as a training camp center for Army recruits. After World War I commercial activity expanded with new movie theaters and department stores. The Mansion House was demolished and replaced with the Poinsett Hotel in 1925. The Great Depression hurt the economy of Greenville forcing mills to lay off workers. Furman University and the Greenville Women’s College also struggled in the crippling economy forcing them to merge in 1933. The Textile Workers Strike of 1934 caused such an uproar in the city and surrounding mill towns that the National Guard had to subdue the chaos. The New Deal established Sirrine Stadium and a new Greenville High School. The Greenville Army Air Base was established in 1942 during World War II contributing to the further growth of Greenville.

Following the war, a November 19, 1946, propane explosion left 6 dead and over 150 injured. The explosion involved a tank containing about 3,500 US gallons (13 m3) of propane and could be heard from Gaffney, 50 miles (80 km) away.

The Parable of the sower

Jesus tells of a farmer who sows seed indiscriminately. Some seed falls on the path (wayside) with no soil, some on rocky ground with little soil, some on soil which contains thorns, and some on good soil. In the first case, the seed is taken away; in the second and third soils, the seed fails to produce a crop; but when it falls on good soil, it grows and yields thirty-, sixty-, or a hundred-fold.

Jesus later explains to his disciples that the seed represents the Gospel, the sower represents anyone who proclaims it, and the various soils represent people’s responses to it.

Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away. Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it

yielded no grain. And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” And he said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Poaching, defined as illegally taking game (or nongame) animals without regard to seasons and/or bag limits, is seen by most around the world as highly unethical. The consequences for poaching game, especially when that game is federally protected, can be extremely high. In the U.S., many states have joined together in a compact that says if someone is convicted of poaching in one member state, all member states will treat the offender the same. This often results in a ban on legally hunting in those states for a lengthy period of time. In addition, monetary fines are often levied, the amount often determined by an animal’s perceived value and a trophy animal.

Worldwide, the problem is even more serious. Americans who have never hunted abroad often do not understand just how unique our North American Conservation Model is to our country. This system regulates the take of game animals (and fish) with the goal of making sure that overharvesting does not occur, and that there will be an abundance of fish and wildlife for future generations to enjoy.

Symptoms

Yellowing of your skin and the whites of your eyes (jaundice)

Light-colored stools

Dark-colored urine

Itchy skin

New diagnosis of diabetes or existing worry you. Many other conditions can cause these symptoms, so your doctor may check for these conditions as well as for pancreatic cancer.

Even though pancreatic cancer is a particularly aggressive cancer, there are ways to fight it that significantly increase your odds of healing successfully. Ways that can greatly magnify the effectiveness of what your oncologist is doing.

Doctors do their best, but it may not be enough. When doctors have not seen success with their treatments in this situation, they know what they have to offer is not going to work. This does not mean that you can’t survive Pancreatic Cancer. You have to either supplement what your doctors have for you, or go a different route entirely if they have nothing to offer.

Laz Diaz Is Making Awful Calls, Ruining Opening Day.

Laz Diaz has long been one of the worst umpires MLB has to offer. On Opening Day, he lived down to that reputation.

The first known examples of a team game involving a ball, which was made out of a rock, occurred in old Mesoamerican cultures for over 3,000 years ago.
