It’s Time for a Boost.

Boosting your post helps to get you in front of the right consumers.

In addition to using Facebook each day for general marketing efforts, it’s time you boosted a post in order to keep your shop top of mind. Boosting your post helps to get you in front of the right consumers. Target demographic profiles, interests, and much more for a relatively low cost.

It’s almost a necessity to boost posts on Facebook nowadays. Boosting a Facebook post allows more of your audience to see the ad. Luckily, there are several targeting options when boosting a post.

SELECTING THE BEST POST

BUDGET DURATION AND AMOUNT

To begin boosting the post you’ll first want to decide which post. The best method is to choose a post that has already received some likes, shares, or comments. This tells you the content is captivating enough to put money behind it, and the current engagement will make it easier for new people to join in.

Once the audience is decided you’ll want to select the budget and duration. The budget is up to you and what you’re willing to spend. After doing this a few times you’ll land on an amount that you are comfortable with.

BOOST AND CHOOSE AUDIENCE Once the post is chosen, hit the blue ‘Boost Post’ button on the post itself. A small window will appear and this is where you’ll choose your audience, budget, and duration. If there are no Audiences listed here you’ll need to create a new one. You’ll be able to choose from demographics and interests. Think carefully about who your audience is and select an audience that is narrow enough to show interest in your post but broad enough that you are hitting more than a handful of people.

Try not to boost the post for too long. People will eventually get bored of seeing the same thing and stop engaging. A few days should be enough.

ENGAGE WITH AUDIENCE Once all the options are selected, hit boost and wait for likes, shares, and comments to come in. Make sure you are engaging with people who comment, you want them to stick around long after the post stops.

Go ahead and try it yourself! It’s a lowcost method of increasing awareness and sales. Happy boosting!

SPADAY Give more to your customers and help them relax by providing additional products and services that pair well with a floral gift and keep them coming back for more. Consider ways to encourage shoppers to visit your store like educational classes, maybe a DIY spa bar. Think out of the box, or in the case of subscription box services… the box is the lure.

Laura Daluga AIFD, is a designer at Keller & Stein, in Canton, Michigan.

She is also the owner of the Department of Floristry, a design studio specializing in one-off special events and corporate designs, floral sculpture, and fleur couture.

Daluga is a 4th generation florist, born into the floral industry, growing up playing with dropped stems in the flower shop owned by her parents. A veteran Millennial designer

with education, experience and an open mind, she is passionate about integrating the mindset of Millennial florists with today’s flower shops.

Her goals is to make this communal, crowd-sourced, collaborative rather than competitive generation part of the next generation of flower shop owners.

She is a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers, Certified Floral Designer, Art in the Elements, a new floral plein air exhibition, designer at Art In Bloom at the Milwaukee Art Museum and Fleurotica at the Garfield Park, and People’s Choice winner of the IRON DESIGNERS AMERICA for the International Floral Expo in 2016.
