Accepted students spent a fun-filled night on campus Cassandra Keller

As part of the “stop the drop” initiative to increase enrollment, 90 LHU accepted students got to stay the night on campus and attend events held on campus as part of Accepted Students Weekend on Feb. 15 and Feb. 16.

According to Michael Hall, the Associate Director of Admissions, accepted students weekend is intended to be earlier and have a bigger impact on the yield of students commited to LHU. Events like the PUB Crawl were just one of the events where current students could interact with accepted students. Food, casino games, karaoke, magic tricks and raffles were all set up as part of the weekend to make the accepted students’ time at LHU memorable.

Hall said, “I hope accepted students will take away new friendships and an excitement to come back for summer orientation and for the fall semester.”

The next Accepted Students Weekend will be taking place Mar. 22 and Mar. 23 after students return from spring break.

Hall said, “Based on how the first two events[first two Accepted Students Weekends], we’re hoping this will become a new Lock Haven University tradition.”

cmk2356@lockhaven.edu Lock Haven University is hosting the HAC Music Showcase: Laura Byrne Irish Trio, Thursday March 21. This will take place in Bentley from noon until 2 p.m. accompanying a lunch with a special menu.

Irish traditional music will play, with Laura Byrne on the flute, Rose Flanagan on fiddle and Eamon O’Leary on guitar.

Laura Byrne started playing the flute when she was nine years old in Vermont. In 1995, Laura earned two bachelor degrees, one in flute performance, and another in music education. Byrne was introduced to Irish traditional music when she moved to Baltimore, Maryland. There, she heard Chris Norman play.

Norman set Byrne on her way to envelop herself in the music she became enthralled with.

The local place she found and eventually played this type of music was J. Patrick’s. Here she played with numerous other performers of the genre. Eamon O’Leary, guitar, and Rose Flanagan, fiddle, are the artists that, along with Byrne, make up the trio. These three artists worked together on the album “Forget Me Not” in 2014.

Byrne states that she has been to Ireland nearly 30 times since the latter portion of the 1990’s, where she met other artists and played in many places. In addition to her musical performance career, Byrne also began teaching Irish music privately in the early 2000s (O’ Flynn, 2018).

Byrne alluded that the set list may partially be comprised of songs from the trio’s 2014 album. To say that this musical act is different would be an understatement.

The style of music is most commonly associated with Irish dance, with instruments such as the flute and the fiddle. The sound is very lively and upbeat. The choice to call the performance a showcase seems profoundly accurate.

This is a musical experience many people haven’t had the opportunity to witness in the area. With Byrne’s, Flanagan’s and O’Leary’s love for and dedication to the genre, the performance is bound to be anything but glorious.

So, for those looking for something new in the way of music or put this in part of the template so we don’t have to keep doing or whatever previously familiar with the genre or the trio’s past endeavors, permit yourselves a great indulgence this March and attend the HAC Music Showcase featuring the Laura Byrne Irish Trio.

President Pignatello announced that LHU will adding a nursing program to the main campus to serve more local nursing students as apart of the stop the drop initiative.

“This is not to say that we’re transferring nursing from Clearfield to the main campus… there is a market of potential students that we are not serving.” said Pignatello.

New billboards and radio ads set to release next month were presented as part of the initiative.

Middle states deadlines and content of the self-evaluation were presented. Middle states is the process LHU has to go through to get re-accredited to receive federal funding.

LHU will be hosting the middle states liaison Apr. 16.

Co-Managing Editor cmk2356@lockhaven.edu This week’s pet of the week is Jax. She belongs to Michelle Rauch, a sports administration major. Jax celebrated her second birthday Jan. 22. Jax’s family rescued her when she was 8-weeks-old. She is a mix of a jack russell, a corgi, and a chihuahua.

Jax loves to play soccer and fetch with a wiffle ball. Her favorite toy is her stuffed lamb chop. Jax loves to say hello to everyone she meets. She spends most of her freetime looking out the window to bark at cars as she waits for her family to come home.

Prior to his release he dropped an EP “Downtown: Life Under the Gun” in 2013. While in 2015 he released another album, “This Thing Called Life”. Alsina has had many hits, “Ghetto,” “No Love,” “Testimony,” “Make it Home” and many other songs and features.

August Alsina has been through a lot and through his music you can hear his hurt, his pain, love and spirituality. He is a soulful, raw and very real artist. Both him and Lyfe Jennings are a lot alike. If you like Lyfe Jennings, then you’d love August Alsina. Through everything that August Alsina has been through, he has overcame and been one with himself.

songs, but now Alsina has come out with an EP titled “Forever and a Day” he expressed his love. His EP is phenomenal he pours his heart and expresses love – in love songs.

A good portion of his songs before this album were deep and more of a “I don’t care attitude” and or even expressing pain and hurt. This EP is more about embracing love and sharing love and passion. He stated in a recent Shade Room interview that his happiness is more important to him than anything in the world… he said, “… I’m going through my presence… I’m going through my journey.”

In his recent songs you can feel that.

If you listened to Alsina before and you listen to his music now you can feel the soul searching, the growth, and more love through his pain. Alsina has grown with his music, his approach and his content.

“Beauty and the Beast” movie review Kristin Turner Staff Writer kat5346@lockhaven.edu The 2017 movie of “Beauty and the Beast” follows the original storyline of the 1991 animated movie. Brave and independent Belle sets out to find her father after his horse comes back to town without him.

Belle winds up in a castle with a beast and finds that her father is locked away in the castle and she trades places with her father to save him.

She tries to find a way to escape the castle, but is told stories by the beast’s servants about what the beast used to be like before he was cursed to become a beast until he finds love. Belle starts to fall in love with the beast and the beast does the same until he’s shot by Gaston, the villain “in love” with Belle.

The beast dies, but comes back to life by magic because Belle tells the beast that she loves him and the curse is broken. The beast and his servants turn into humans again and Belle and the prince(who was the beast) fall in love.

The cast for the remake of “Beauty and the Beast” was fantastic with Dan Stevens as the beast/the prince, Emma Watson as Belle, Luke Evans as Gaston, and Josh Gad as Lefou making all the characters you loved from the 1991 cartoon come to life! The actors did a phenomenal job playing the characters because they really brought them to life.

The music in it was truly acceptional.

They kept most of the well-known songs in the remake from the original and added a few new ones. There were some differences between the original and the live-action

remake. One of which was in the cartoon, the beast was stabbed by Gaston and in the live-action remake, he was shot.

It is a magnificent movie altogether with the message of the movie being to look past someone’s appearance and look at someone’s heart instead.

A Slow Burn Worth Watching Chase Bottorf Staff Writer ctb492@lockhaven.edu When one person touches a flame, they are distraught by the pain it gives, while others become entranced by its beauty.

“Burning” is the latter with a dream like scene of a boy entranced by a fire set to a greenhouse.

“Burning” follows a quiet young writer named Jong-su (Yoo Ah-in), a native of South Korea. He runs into an individualistic old friend with whom he used to be neighbors with, Shin Hae-mi (Jeon Jongseo). She asks him to watch her cat while she goes on vacation in Africa, and Jong-su obliges. While this goes on, Jong-su deals with his father, who has been arrested and awaiting trial for assault.

Between dealing with his father and watching Hae-mi’s cat, Jong-su starts to become fixated with her and begins to fantasize about her. Hae-mi eventually returns to South Korea with a mysterious man named Ben (Steven Yeun), who’s secret hobby reaches criminal levels.

Director, Chang-dong Lee, has created a masterpiece of a film with “Burning”; based on the short story, “Barn Burning”, by Murakami Haruki. The plot and slow-paced camera angles will keep the audience on edge and wanting more.

To its advantages, “Burning”, goes for a more miniscule sense of point of view. The audience knows only what the protagonist, Jong-su, knows and nothing more. This uncertainty of narrative creates an unknowing venture forth with plot, thus creating a beguiling psychological experience unlike most films of recent.

What Chang-dong Lee also sets out to do with “Burning”, was to keep a lack of audio in certain scenes. This creates an engaging visual experience of the characters and their emotions, as well as making it almost surreal at times.

“Burning” is a brilliant slow-paced mystery that will keep questions racing through the audience’s minds from start to finish. It’s articulate sense to detail creates a visual intimacy with the audience. The gorgeous color pallet of the film’s cinematography by Kyung-pyo Hong, gives an overwhelming tension in even the subtlest of scenes. It is a truly great film to look at and admire.

Aside from the feel and look of the film, the best part is its phenomenal acting.

Yoo Ah-in, Jeon Jong-seo, and especially Steven Yeun, gave amazing performances.

Steven Yeun, most famous for his role as Glenn on AMC’s “The Walking Dead”, is most likely the best addition to the film.

His mysterious and almost sociopathic role of Ben is worthy of a best supporting actor nomination. Unfortunately, the Academy didn’t agree with this.

“Burning” is an amazing experience from start to end. Chang-dong Lee set out and created a true modern masterpiece. It is hands down one of the best foreign films of 2018 and even one of the best films of the year.

Social Media Takeover Mark Matthews Copy Editor mjm2923@lockhaven.edu Today, now more than ever social media is taking off. People in the world especially younger people around the ages of 18 to 24 are using social media constantly. It is a part of the way we communicate amongst each other but in a different way than in past generations.

The power of social media allows users to instantaneously share to the public what they want to share where anyone around the world can see - unless the user is using their privacy settings.

For example, during this year’s halftime show you can look on Twitter and see what people’s opinions are on the halftime show and give it a like if you especially like it.

It can be used for useful intentions, but it can also create a negative impact as well. According to brandwatch.com, the average daily time spent for people on social media is 116 minutes a day. That is almost two hours of time. It can be very distracting if you have a tight schedule and need to get things done.

Social media tends to take up so much time for some people because it is like another world for them. You communicate with people through the internet, which means no verbal exchanges are involved.

There are also multiple social medias for people to choose from and a lot of people do have most of them. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat are the major ones out in the internet for people to engage in.

A poll was taken by 15 LHU students where they were surveyed what social medias they own. 14 said Instagram, 14 said Facebook, 14 said Snapchat, and 10 said Twitter. This surveyed proves that majority of people especially in the 18-24 age range own at least three social medias. The more social medias they own, the more time they have to take to interact with it.

Once again however, social media is very positive to our society, but can have negative effects too.

The battle of life and perfectionism

Mia Swales Sports Editor mxs3279@lockhaven.edu Perfection can be dangerous and the yearning for it can be too. If we overwhelm ourselves with being perfect because of the fear of messing up it can be crippling. H. Jackson Brown Jr. said, “the best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.” I believe this to be true. All one can ever do is their best.

We don’t have to have this map of life of how things should be and then go by it. The map doesn’t have to be eliminated nor does the path that we think we are going on.

Sometimes detours are necessary. Everyday doesn’t have to go as we pictured it to be and nothing has to always go as planned. It’s okay to mess up and its okay to fail. We don’t have to be perfect to be successful. “Failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of success.” We are human and don’t have to have everything figured out. Its so much easier said than done but some of the wisest people to ever walk this earth have said the same.

We have plans and we have ways in which we want to do things but the things that we want and desire to do and have don’t have to be perfect nor do those experiences have to be.

Everything that unfolds before us happens for a reason. Everything that crosses paths with us happens because it was destined to be on our map. It was supposed to be in our ocean, it was supposed to be the calm in our seas or the wave that took us by storm.

But we are human we are no perfect people. We are made to fail, we are made to live and do… success doesn’t rise without failure. Truman Capote said, “Failure is the condiment that gives success its flavor.”

Hans Wrang of LinkedIn says there is a difference between striving for excellence and perfectionist. He says striving for excellence can motivate and inspire one but striving for perfection can be “demolishing.” He explained that hunting excellence is always looking for a way to improve and do better; it’s a never-ending journey. Whereas to the idea of perfectionism you plateau, you master something, and no longer learn.

Our lives are never ending journeys as we strive for excellence to be the best being of society and individuals that we can be as we strive to do all that we want to do in life.

Plans for the Future Chase Bottorf Staff Writer ctb492@lockhaven.edu There comes a time in everyone’s life where they must choose where they end up and decide to go after college. Not everyone is the same, and not everyone will end up in the same positions or fulfill the same endeavors. Some students may go off to graduate school and some may go straight into a career. The paths in the lives of students are diverse and who knows where one might end up.

Some students end up having a harder time fulfilling the future they wish to have. Certain students are mothers, weighing the responsibilities of both school and a child.

Destinee Chapman, a junior majoring in biology and biomedical sciences, is one these students. When asked about what her future plans are, she stated, “I want to move out of Pennsylvania. After graduating, I wish to go to medical school and become an anesthesiologist or an emergency physician. I want to live the American dream and have enough money to provide for my son.” Being a mother and a student at the same time is a difficult endeavor. Chapman had this to say on the topic, “School is a lot harder as a mother. I must have a good time management with my son. I have to be there for his bed time, give him motherly attention, and balance out when I study and when I have playtime with him.”

Chapman may have a future in mind, but it’s the steps that will decide it in the end. Chapman has been going the extra mile to fulfill her plans, taking the extra steps in making sure she’s healthy and strong-minded, “I have been looking for internships in my field. I plan on taking an EMT course to better my knowledge in the medical field. I work out and do yoga to keep myself relaxed and healthy. I tend to keep my phone away, so that I can disconnect from social media and focus on my classes.” Staying healthy is important when planning for the future. It keeps your mind clear and conscious and will help with learning in the end.

Some students are already on their way in making it into their future careers. Dylan Geraty, a senior majoring in health and physical education, is almost done with his schooling at Lock Haven University. He had this to say about how he is planning on his future, “Right now I am student teaching to improve my teaching abilities. I want to be a physical education teacher when I graduate. I work out at the rec at least four times a week. I do other physical activities, such as ultimate frisbee to keep myself in shape. It’s very important for my career.”

Geraty had also stated that for his future career in physical education, it is not just about being in shape, but also about being mentally planned, “I like reading fitness and wellbeing books to take in some light about bettering myself for the future. It helps me know more about my field and myself.”

Not everyone is going to stay in one place. After graduating and going out into the world, some students want to get jobs all over. Geraty had this to say, “When I graduate, I’ll go anywhere in the United States. I am applying for teaching positions all over. If I was to pick someplace that I would want to go to the most, it would be the Carolinas.”

Planning for the future after college isn’t easy. With some light shed on a couple of Lock Haven University students, maybe it could prepare more for their future planning.

The Daytona 500 showed that NASCAR is more than left turns Mark Matthews

Copy-editor mjm2923@lockhaven.edu The 61st annual Daytona 500 NASCAR event at Daytona International Speedway did not disappoint. The race took place on February 17.

This year’s edition of the Daytona 500 was the best one since 2016.

Ironically, the 2016 edition of the 500 saw Hamlin win that one too. The 2016 Daytona 500 ended up displaying the closest finish in the history of the event where he edged out Martin Truex Jr. by 0.010 seconds.

This year was best since 2016 because it ended up being very competitive and exciting the whole race. It was an ideal race for a fan who’s never watch NASCAR to see. The cars went three and four wide the majority of the race, which I didn’t expect to happen based off seeing how the Clash (pre-season race) and the qualifying races went.

Those races showed single-file race the majority of the time.

There were notable pre-race actions that took place. Houston Astros defensive end J.J. Watt electrified the crowd when started the engines of the automobiles by saying, “Gentlemen Start Your Engines!” Also notably, former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. drove the pace car to control the NASCAR field before the race.

There weren’t many huge crashes during the race until the last 10 laps of the event. On lap 191 of 200, the “Big One” erupted where 22 of the 40 cars ended up wrecking, including Matt DiBenedetto who led a race-high 49 laps. Two more big wrecks happened after that which made the last 10 laps of the race last for a little over an hour due to the clean up process of the wreckage.

The conclusion finally came in an overtime where teammates Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch worked together. Hamlin ended up winning his second Daytona 500, winning over Busch.

For non-NASCAR fans, NASCAR is a sport that is more than just left turns and the 2019 Daytona 500 showed it. Going three and four

wide racing while driving 200 mph is a skill and the drivers showed that.

Original Italian Pizza in Lock Haven Tristan Klinefelter

Bllog writer tmk432@lockhaven.edu This week I traveled downtown to the Original Italian Pizza also known as OIP. It is right next to the Chinese restaurant Shanghai in which you can look at the previous blog I did for there. This week I decided to go with a classic in choosing a pizza place. However, this is not just pizza.

OIP has a very large menu going from pizza to salads, wings, chicken, fish, desserts, and many more items. One of the biggest things I noticed about the place right away was the outside of the building. From the outside, it looks just like a small pizza shop you would walk into that doesn’t have much seating. When I entered I was surprisingly satisfied.

I looked around and the place was big. It was very modernized and was full of artwork and places to sit. Right, when you walk in there are high tables to sit at and when you start to walk you notice there is a whole other seating area right beside it. This pizza place also sells a variety of craft beer. I was surprised to find that as many pizza restaurants don’t usually sell alcohol.

Other than the place is really nice having been filled with a large amount of artwork the food was very good. One of the biggest things on the menu is pizza. I got two slices of pepperoni pizza with a side of fries and a glass of mountain dew. This came out to be about 10 dollars.

The food took around 15 minutes for me to get which wasn’t bad considering I went in during lunch time. When I received my food, it

was kinda shocking in the size of the food. Typically when eating pizza an average slice is smaller when separated into a pie. Here one piece is equivalent to about two pieces. Not only that but the side of fries was piled high on a plate.

The downtown Original Italian Pizza is a great place to go if you’re looking for an afternoon of good and cheap food.

Bernie is making a comeback!

Opinons Editor aag9585@lockhaven.edu Sen. Bernie Sanders held a town hall with CNN on Monday evening to lay out more of his plans for 2020 — and they sound an awful lot like his plans for 2016.

“Health care is a right. Making sure our kids get a higher education is a right,” Sanders said, “am I going to demand that the wealthy and large corporations start paying their fair share of taxes? Damn right I will.”

Sanders rose to fame in the 2016 Democratic primary when he took on Hillary Clinton, who had a more recognizable name and the backing of the Democratic National Committee. Sanders lost, but he pushed more progressive policy ideas, such as “Medicare for All” and campaign finance reform. Now that he’s running for president again in 2020, much of the stumping points remain the same.

Here are some highlights from the senator’s first town hall as a presidential candidate in 2019: He pledged to defeat President Donald Trump in the 2020 general election and jokingly said he would bring along a lie detector test to the debates.

He promised to pass a Medicare for All program — as he did in 2016 — which guarantees health coverage for all Americans by eliminating private insurance plans for most medical coverage.

He said his cabinet would be diverse to reflect “what America is.”

He called climate change an “existential threat.”

He said he supported statehood for Washington, D.C., which would essentially guarantee Democrats more electoral votes and representation in Congress.

He blasted the pharmaceutical industry as a “greedy,” evil force in the U.S.: “Don’t get me started. We have a limited amount of time.”

Despite the policy similarities to 2016, Sanders was forced to confront some controversies he has faced after his people-funded, outsider campaign three years ago Numerous 2016 staffers for Sanders campaign told the New York Times that they were subjected to sexual harassment and mistreatment. Sanders pledged that he would work to ensure women were not sexually harassed while working on his campaign in 2019 and 2020.

“It was painful. Very painful,” Sanders said. “And it will not happen again.”

Sanders also faced mild controversy over releasing just one year of tax returns, from 2014, back during the 2016 primaries, but his time he’ll release 10 years’ worth. “Unfortunately, I remain one of the poorer members of the United States Senate,” Sanders said. “And that’s what that will show.”

Sanders spoke out against a possible U.S. military intervention in Venezuela, an unusually touchy subject for the senator. “I’m old enough to remember the war in Vietnam,” Sanders said. “I am very fearful of the United States continuing to do what it has done in past — the United States overthrew a democratically elected government in Chile, and in Brazil, and in Guatemala.”

Although there is a similarity of Sanders’ new platform and his last, the audience still seemed enthused. They chanted “Bernie!” at the end of the town hall and took photos with the senator. Drawing in an array of new donors, Sanders has raised $10 million in just a week, according to the campaign.

Doug Spatafore Sports Information Director dpatafo@lockhvaen.edu Christian Kelly was tremendous for the Haven this week. In Thursday’s loss to West Chester Kelly put up 17 points and hauled in 7 rebounds. He would go 7-16 from the floor and also block one shot.

Kelly was even better in the team’s win against Millersville on Saturday. He poured in 27 points including 4-8 from three-point range. Kelly grabbed 13 rebounds and had one block. Kelly was sensational for the Haven at the end of regulation knocking in a contested three pointer to tie the game with under a minute to play. He was also clutch in overtime grabbing the key rebound with 12 seconds to play and knocking in his two free throws to give the Bald Eagles a three point advantage, which they would carry home for the win.

She would also finish second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:24.30.

Moyer was also a member of the Bald Eagles’ scoring distance medley relay. The team finished up the DMR with a time of 12:33.61. It was the sixth fastest time in LHU history.

Moyer & Kiser go 1-2 in mile, duo paces LHU at PSAC Championships Doug Spatafore

Sports Information Director dpatafo@lockhaven.edu EDINBORO, Pa. – Laurel Moyer (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) and Cadie Kiser (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) finished 1-2 in the mile and the two combined for 13 points in the 3,000-meter run as the duo headlined the Lock Haven University women’s indoor track & field team’s effort today at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Thanks to the efforts of Moyer, Kiser and a host of others, the Bald Eagles finished seventh out of 14 in the team standings, marking Lock Haven’s highest team finish in seven years.

Moyer won the mile with a time of 5:08.19, just ahead of Kiser, who was second with a run of 5:09.86. The two scored 18 points in the event, as Kiser’s second-place finish was nearly four seconds ahead of the third-place finisher.

The two came back and finished among the top-four in the 3,000-meter run. Moyer was second with a time of 10:24.30 and Kiser was fourth with a time of 10:28.38.

Both Moyer and Kiser were also members of the Bald Eagles’ scoring distance medley relay. In the very first event of the meet today, the two teamed up with Kayla Brathwaite (Arouca, Trinidad and Tobago/Bishop Anstey East) and Tia Judy (East Prospect, Pa./Homeschooled), and the four finished fourth in the DMR with a time of 12:33.61. It was the sixth fastest time in LHU history.

Rookie Riyana Owens (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown), the Bald Eagles sprint star, scored in both the 60-meter and 200-meter events. She lowered her own school record in the 60-meter prelims (7.73), before placing sixth in the finals with a time of 7.79. Owens was sixth at 200-meters with a time of 25.77.

Karina Long (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin), another freshman-standout who hadn’t competed since the season-opening meet on December 1, returned today and placed fourth overall in the long jump with a solid leap of 18-05.25.

Thrower Stephanie Williams (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) hit another personal-best in the weight throw and she placed sixth with a toss of 50-05.5.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Rashana Tompkins (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and Billie Jo Bollinger (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) finished sixth (9.29) and seventh (9.33), respectively.

Bollinger rounded out the notable individual performances with an eighth-place scoring finish in the pentathlon (2,914 points).

YORK, Pa. – The Lock Haven University swimming team completed Day 4 of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Swimming Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa. In the morning session the Haven advanced to more swimmers to the finals. Kristin Allen (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) advanced in the 200-yard backstroke finishing with a time of 2:10.97.

In the 200-yard breaststroke, Raechel Rodriguez (Coopersburg, Pa./ Southern Lehigh) would move on with a time of 2:30.21.

Rodriguez ran her season best time of 2:28.39 in the 200-yard breaststroke finals and placed 14th. Allen would place 23rd in the 200yard backstroke coming in with a time of 2:11.61.

Lock Haven would finish No. 11 with 211 total points. Full day-byday wrap-ups are also available at PSACsports.org

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 21 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (0-1) opened the 2019 season this afternoon at home on Charlotte Smith Field, but the Bald Eagles fell to No. 25 Tiffin (2-0), 8-5, in a tightly contested top-25 non-conference clash.

For LHU, the 2019 season marks the 50th anniversary of the first season of women’s lacrosse at Lock Haven back in 1969. The Bald Eagles will celebrate the anniversary later tonight on campus. Tiffin moved to 2-0 on the season with the win.

Lock Haven trailed 4-1 at halftime, but the Bald Eagles soared in the second-half, netting four goals including two quick ones early in the half. Despite the strong half from the host-Haven squad, the visitors held on for a narrow, 8-5 victory.

LHU goalkeeper Lauren Girardi (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) kept the Bald Eagles in the game with an 11-save effort. Karli Gilbert (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown) netted a pair of goals, and both Braxtin Reddinger (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) and Loren Librizzi (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) had two assists in the game.

The Bald Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, February 27 when they travel to Roberts Wesleyan for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest.
