Doom of the boomtowns Cassandra Keller

News Editor cmk2356@lockhaven.edu Our environment plays a big role on how we act especially when it changes. Dr. Christopher W. Podeschi studies how these changes to our environment affect our communities at Bloomsbury University and shared his findings with students on Monday.

Dr. Podeschi has been studying the impact that fracking has had on the boomtowns near the Marcellus shale through focus group with the locals of these towns. Fracking is “...taking a drill into the shale formation and turning it horizontally, then fracturing the rock … and the gas comes flying out,” Dr. Podeschi said.

Boomtowns are the small towns around these fracking sites that sit on top of the shale formations and take in the workers from the fracking sites, though they aren’t specific only to fracking sites. Coal mines and oil fields can cause boomtowns as well.

Dr. Podeschi started by talking about the benefits these boomtowns have. With an influx of workers and the royalties from any gas extracted from the ground, the economy in these towns flourished. “The boom is when they’re [fracking drill pads] active and they’re good for everyone economically at least,” he said.

Other than that, boom towns don’t have much to say for benefits.

Dr. Podeschi explained many of the stresses the locals named; the biggest being fear of crime. “The presence of unfamiliar people was troubling to a lot of folks… the Thomas Theorem say that it doesn’t matter if something is really happening, if people believe it’s happening it’s real enough. Crime fear is it’s own real stress,” he said.

“Stress has real long term health effects,” he said. Which is why it’s one of the biggest issue with these new types of boomtowns along with the denser populations they affect. “Fracking created a new kind of boomtown with a wider array of social and individual impacts because of its different characteristics from different energy booms,” he said.

Liberal Privilege on campus Mark Matthews

Copyeditor mjm2923@lockhaven.edu A conservative political activist named Cabot Phillips visited Lock Haven University to give out his ideas of politics and opinions on Oct. 23.

He is currently the media director of the Campus Reform Governor Board and the director for Campus Outreach for the Leadership Institute.

He also served the 2016 Marco Rubio presidential campaign as the digital grassroots director.

“Nice! There’s so many people here filling up and then I saw people with notebooks and found out that many of you are here for extra credit,”said Phillips.

He also explained his visit in Lock Haven thus far. “I mistakenly went to the wrong building here. There was a building across the train tracks, it was like an old gymnasium that’s being renovated right now. I was then told I was not in Lock Haven University.” This introduction gave the audience a laugh to begin his presentation.

Diving into the main topic now, Phillips first explained what the Campus Reform Governor Board does.

“It covers college news from a conservative angle, specifically we cover liberal bias on college campuses around the country, and we try to shine a light on the overall bias that is against conservative students from professors, from administrations, all the way down to student governments.”

Continuing on he says, “We are very passionate to defend intellectual diversity and defending college as a place that is truly a market place for ideas, where you can disagree with each other civilities, but you’re not shutting down ideas and so we try to protect specifically conservative ideas, but in broad try to protect all ideas on a college campuses.”

In addition, he gave details on how he contributes to the Campus Reform Governor Board: “I do media work with them and try to draw as much attention to our stories as possible, whether it’s on YouTube, going on Fox, CNN wherever it is, trying to get people to talk about the issues that I think is important to our country.”

Following this he discussed the meaning and ideas of liberal privilege.

“I’ve been to about a hundred different college campuses around the country and I always hear this idea being pushed about privilege. I see on college campuses this idea that you are nothing more than your skin color, your gender, and your

religion. I would say the left has created this environment today where people are put into boxes based on their religion, gender things in that nature.”

Further on discussing people’s privileges, Phillips pointed out: “We teach people that if you don’t have something because you lack the privilege other people have or are just lucky.” Phillips contrasted this point by saying, “I think that’s wrong. I think that the idea of privilege in society many times robs people in their individuality, it robs people in their sense of empowerment in controlling their own circumstances and I think it’s dangerous.” He discussed that liberal privilege manifests itself in three main ways in society. It manifests itself in entertainment, media, and in college campuses.

Phillips discussed how the entertainment world is involved in your liberal privilege.

6 A decade of success for Android!

Copy Editor mjm2923@lockhaven.edu Recently, the Android celebrated their 10th year anniversary of existence on September 23. Android is a mobile operating system developed by Google. Since those ten years, the company has evolved dramatically in a short period of time.

The dictionary definition of “Android,” according to Merriam-Webster.com, is a mobile robot with a human form. The “HTC Dream”, also known as the “T-Mobile G1,” was the first ever Android phone released. This 2008 phone had a manual keyboard, similar to laptop keyboard where the user doesn’t type on the screen like modern day phones. The android phones ended up taking a big leap later on in 2010 when the first Samsung Galaxy came out, the “Galaxy S” version.

During this time, the Iphone 4 competed with this brand. In 2016, a new android phone named the Google Pixel came into the stores to attempt to even further the competition with the Iphone. This brand new phone’s purpose is to increase the android’s camera value versus the Iphones. Personally, I’ve own an Iphone my entire time until recently purchasing an android phone, ironically a day before the 10 year anniversary.

Not just phones were released with the famous Android brand also. The highly popular Kindle Fire came out in 2011 produced by Android, which took reading books to another level. In addition, also

in 2011, the Motorola Zoom came out to try to compete with and mock the Ipads that started trending.

Personally, I’ve own an Iphone my entire time until recently purchasing an android phone, ironically a day before the 10 year anniversary. The competition between the Iphone and the Android makes an interesting mix though. In the end, it is breathtaking how much phones have developed over time and how technology continues to improve it in making it even more advanced.

Lock Haven University is hosting “Language of Power,” an art exhibition by Stephen Barnwell in the Sloan Fine Arts Center Gallery, LHU campus. The exhibit will be open for free public viewing from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Oct. 22 through Monday, Nov. 19 in the gallery.

Barnwell is a professional artist, working in the genres of printmaking, photography, and illustration. His prints have been exhibited internationally in prestigious museums, in-

cluding the Palais de Tokyo Contemporary Art Museum in Paris; the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in California; the Altmarkisches Museum in Stendal, Germany; and the Lahti Art Museum in Lahti, Finland.

As Halloween approaches, the world is preparing itself for a great, spooky holiday especially in the entertainment world. Around this time of year, every television network either replays old Halloween movies/shows in spirit of the holiday or they create new ones as a form of celebration. Netflix has been adding new, scary things for the occasion and most are quite exciting.

Their most popular addition, “The Haunting of Hill House”, is a Netflix original series consisting of ten heart-raising, creepy episodes that’ll either make you think twice about entering a haunted house or get you even more hyped up for the things that go bump in the night during any haunted attraction. It’s a binge-worthy moment if you love things about ghosts, visiting the past in a creepy setting, learning about why bad things happen in strange times, and family values.

“The Haunting of Hill House” is about an original family of seven who eventually become a family of four after the crazy adventure and hardships they have with the Hill house. The house is temporarily inhabited by the Crain family who have a history of flipping old houses and selling them to make a profit for themselves until they make a permanent house for them to live in forever.

Dad is a contractor/flipper/fixer of the homes and mom is an artist/architect who goes over the blueprints of each house and adjusts them in order for

her husband to work on the house. They have five children, who seem to have their own little quirkiness and troubles with the new house. As time goes on, while they’re still living in Hill house, each child notices things wrong with the house or encounters strange creatures that make them look insane to their parents.

Images of ghosts who appear at night and animals that are always heard, but never seen are what freaks them out the most. Eventually, a tragedy hits the family urging them to leave Hill house and never come back, but it still haunts them when their adults. The show flips back and forth from when the children were living at the house to what they’re like as adults and how effected they’ve become because of the horrors that were encountered especially since in their adults lives another one of their members is taken from them which brings up the terrifying memories of their personal haunted house, but it doesn’t stop more horrors coming their way.

It’s a haunting, brutal, real/fantasy world show that leaves you curious and in focus of what happens between the family and their personal turmoil with each other and the house. It’s not so scary in the way it should normally be for something in the horror category based on graphics and storyline, but it’s scary in a fear for your family kind of way so it’s quite an emotional rollercoaster. If you want to know how this fantastic and chilling story ends or to find more exhilarating, spine-chilling content for the holiday then Netflix is going to be your best friend.

Surviving the Cold

At this point when we wake up the weather is in the air and there is no say as to what it’s going to be. The truth is you can get warm but you can’t get cold. You can get warm by layers of clothing but in the heat you’d have to have portable battery operated fan that just might not do much for you.

Fall is here and there these days. But one way to solve the shivers of the cold is to bundle up. According to the National Institute of Health you should wear a water proof jacket, scarfs, hat and gloves, long sleeves, long pants, long socks. If your clothes get wet and it’s cold outside change them as soon as possible. WikiHow says there are other ways to get immune to the cold as well like Picture by: Pixabay

driving around with less heat in your car, limit the heat in your showers, eat food high in protein as well as gain muscle mass.

Besides from getting used to the changes of the weather in dealing with your physical the weather has an effect on peoples emotions too. According to Bustle, a lack of sunlight can cause Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). SAD tends to have an effect on people’s moods during the times of year when there is less sunlight which is typically October - April. Besides SAD, cold weather reduces your sensory feedback in your muscles, while rain can cause you to eat more.

Whether it be lending someone a jacket or lending someone a helping hand through a rough day. Look out for one another when the sun is shining and when the rain falls. You never know what someone may be going through and why they’re going through it.

There’s ways to cope with the cold temperatures and it’s physical and mental impact. Help one another out, every day for the big and the small reasons.

How to Deal with Getting a Bad Grade Evannah Phan Lifestyles Editor Etp7270@lockhaven.edu Whether you didn’t study hard enough, you didn’t understand the concepts, or you simply just slacked off in the beginning of the semester, you probably ended up with a bad grade and that’s why you’re reading this article. Either way, receiving a bad grade will leave you heartbroken, confused, or even angry.

It is safe to say that receiving a bad grade will be an occurrence that some or even all of us will have to encounter at one point in our lives. Hopefully it does not become a continuous occurrence that hinders our whole academic career though.

Once you have fallen into the pit of getting a bad grade, it can be a total grieving process for some of us. It truly depends on how you decide to rise up from a bad grade that will make all the difference.

The most important part of dealing with a bad grade is getting past the point of fact that you got a bad grade and planning your next step. I have had my own fair share of bad grades over the years and think it is crucial for you to strategize how you are going to succeed in the future. Here are a few tips on how to increase productivity, improve time management skills, or just plan ahead for the future.

You need to give yourself time to understand why you got the bad grade in the first place. In order to overcome this obstacle, you have to be honest with yourself and reflect on what went wrong that could have led you to do poorly on your exam.

Do not necessarily dwell on your on your past mistakes but introspectively look at what you did and accept your mistakes.

This will help you understand the situation better in order for you to attack your future exam.

Identify your weaknesses on the subject you are trying to study so that you can work harder on strengthening those areas. For example, I personally used to struggle with running out of time on exams because I took too much time trying to figure out how a question. I combatted this weakness by working on time-management skills and working through all of the “easier” questions first before tackling the harder ones.

Forgive yourself for the bad grade and don’t let that overpower you and your thoughts. Negativity will ruin your mindset and become the only thing that you can think of when trying to better yourself for the following exam. The only way to succeed is to keep moving forward and not look back once you have accepted your mistakes.

Seek help from your Professor, on-campus tutors, or online resources. I think that it is important to especially talk to your Professor because they are the ones that are creating the test in the first place. They also have been studying the subject for probably 10+ years and obviously have an extremely good understanding of all the concepts. They will always be your greatest resource. Sometimes it can be anxiety-inducing to talk to your professor about a bad grade because you fear embarrassment but it will be the most helpful thing that you do.

Tutors are also a great resource because they have already taken the course and probably did fairly well in it. They understand the subject matter and have probably had the course with the same Professor. They can probably help you figure out study tips and find other easy ways to learn the subject matter that you may have not thought of before.

After you’ve tried your hardest to reflect on your past mistakes, actively tried to work on your weaknesses, then you just have to be confident in your abilities and efforts. With that being said, do not overestimate the difficulty of the exam and make careless mistakes just because you dived into the test too haphazardly. Collect your thoughts, and begin your exam with a clear mind.

12 OPINION Transgender might be erased under Trump Administration Alexis Gallagher

Opinons Editor aag9585@lockhaven.edu Trump’s Administration released a proposal, Sunday, to change federal civil-rights law to include a definition of sex as “a person’s status as male or female based on immutable biological traits identifiable by or before birth.” The language, if adopted, would mean that the federal government would effectively stop recognizing the very possibility of a person being transgender or intersex.

This move reverses the expansion of transgender rights that were giving during the Obama Administration. Among the Obama-era, guidelines were issued by the Department of Education in May 2016. The guidelines stated that directors and school administrators must recognize students’ gender identity regardless of the sex indicated in their documents, and also enable students to use bathrooms consistent with their gender identity.

Betsy DeVos, Trump’s Education Secretary, revoked these guidelines almost as soon as she was confirmed. Trump’s campaign had promised to return Americans to an imaginary past that was both greater and simpler, and reversing gains in transgender rights was consistent with that promise. It stands to reason these potential sweeping changes to civil-rights law would emerge on the eve of the midterm elections.

The Office for Civil Rights at the Department of Health and Human Services is now run by a man named Roger Severino, whose last job was as the director of the Heritage Foundation’s DeVos Center for Religion and Civil Society.

While working there, Severino repeatedly wrote about the dangers of “gender ideology.” “Gender ideology” refers to an imaginary movement to erase differences between men and women. This was used in a successful campaign in Australia to scrap a government program called Safe Schools, which was designed to make schools safer for LGBTQI students. These changes, like the attacks on transgender rights in the United States, are reversing the most recent and most rapid social change makes it seem like the promise of a return to the imaginary past will be fulfilled.

Severino has argued that protecting transgender people violently opposed recognition of same-sex marriage.

He has also pressed for a rule that would allow health care professionals to refuse to treat transgender patients on religious grounds. If these rules were applied outside of Servino’s office, this change could be devasting.

For transgender and intersex people, having rights taken away is not just a return to a time before those rights were gained, it is worse. Worse

yet, it is traumatic. It can have the effect of leaving people exposed because they don’t have a closet to return to.

Millions transgender people who recieved government documents under Obama-era could see their documents revoked, students could lose any legal backing to press for gender-appropriate bathrooms and locker rooms, and transgender employees could be forced to detransition or lose their jobs.

The revocation of rights may feel violent because it is violent. The effort is aimed at preventing the rights from being reclaimed. It is probably that draft changes to the law include a proposal for genetic testing to determine sex. James Hamblin, a writer for The Atlantic, interpreted this provision as “proposing widespread genetic testing and keeping records of citizens’ genitals.”

As Hamblin points out, some newborns, and many more adults, do not fit into either of the two defined sex categories. The Administration’s proposed definition of sex runs counter to the development of both the scientific and social understandings of humans. This process is most obvious in the politics of immigration, where more and more people are being defined out of citizenship, legal residence, but most inportantly out of full personhood. That is precisely what the proposed legal changes will do to people whose gender expression or identity falls outside the newly redefined boxes for “M” and “F.” On Monday, Donald Trump claimed, “we have a lot of different concepts right now. They have a lot of different things happening with respect to transgender right now.”

When Trump was asked about a campaign promise to protect the LGBTQI community, Trump said,“I’m protecting everybody. I want to protect our country.”

According to the Health and Human Services Department,“such a change seeks to negate claims that gender identity — rather than biological gender — can be used for protection under federal civil rights laws such as Title IX, which bans sex discrimination. If such regulations were adopted, the federal government would consider a transgender person’s sex to be what is determined at birth rather than the gender with which they identify.”

The reported proposal comes little more than a week after New York City created a gender-neutral “X” option for birth certificates, joining California, Oregon, Washington and New Jersey in offering a third gender category on the government-issued identity documents.

Medical experts said on Monday that defining gender based on genitalia at birth is scientifically inaccurate and may harm patients’ health.

Dr. Joshua Safer, executive director of Mount Sinai Hospital’s Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery, said,“this is not consistent with current western medicine or science in terms of how we actually operate or define sex of individuals.”

“We urge the administration to ensure all public health policy is firmly rooted in science, and to keep discrimination and political interference out of our nation’s health,” said Dr. Lisa Hollier, president of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Beyond the broader issues raised by the administration memo, doctors said the new policy would be impossible to apply to “intersex” babies who are born with ambiguous genitalia or reproductive organs.

“Trump’s definition does not even take this entire group of patients into consideration,” said Dr. Natasha Bhuyan, a family medicine and LGBTQI care specialist in Phoenix.

If the administration’s recommended definition is adopted, these patients will likely be assigned a male or female sex at birth, which can have devastating long-term psychological and health consequences, she said.

This efffort represents an assult on the ability of the transgender community to participate on life.

Dogs are better than cats Derek Danneker

Editor-in-Chief ddd4907@lockhaven.edu If you had a roommate who ran away from you every chance they had, looked at you as they pushed a vase off the counter and pooped in a box, how long would you stick with them?

The answer any reasonable person should say is “not long,” but suddenly when that person is a cat, they get a free pass. Cats don’t do it for me, sure they can be cute and snuggle up next to you, but man’s best friend does just the same without the vandalism and boxes.

Dogs are better than cats. They don’t defecate in receptacles, you know they love you, there’s more of them to love and they’re sturdy. I’ve never cleaned a litter box, but I can’t imagine it’s very pleasant. There’s just something unpleasant about the thought of this kind of material sitting for you to clean up in your house. Although you have to clean up after your dog, at least it gets over with quickly.

Then there’s the comfort value of dogs. When I get home after a long day, I need the reassuring and regal face of a dog with a wagging tail to turn my day around. They care, they want to give you attention and they want attention too. With cats, I feel as though they may run if something the least bit disconcerting happens. I need an animal I can trust to be there through the loud noises and if someone else stands up too quickly.

Dogs - at least the ones worth having- are rough and tumble. You don’t have to worry about sitting or stepping on them, They can take a hit. Moreover, they’re excited to be hugged abrasively. Unlike a cat, where you have to worry about teeth and talons. Most dogs will do just fine with a playfully aggressive cuddle time, many will do what they do best, which is to say, wag their tail, pant and maybe lick you.

I remember seeing kids in elementary school who didn’t know to give their cats a wide berth. They had long, deep scratches on their arms and sometimes their face. This isn’t something an animal owner should worry about. The person provides everything that the animal needs to live, I don’t need to do all of that just to worry if the thing will turn around and scratch me.

There isn’t much going on with dogs when they aren’t actively around you.

Mostly, they’re sleeping. Cats seem to have their own agenda when it comes to free time. Where did they go? What are they after? I don’t like asking these questions. Like my computer, I need an animal that goes into standby mode when I’m not doing anything.

The argument was summed up by Christopher Hitchens, author and journalist, who said, “Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are god.

Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods.”

SPORTS Lock Haven knocks off District of Columbia Doug Spatafore Sports Information Director dpatafp@lockhaven.edu WASHINGTON D.C. – The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team (6-7-3) used a 5th minute goal from Redshirt Senior Gage Rims (Rosedale, Md./Loch Raven) to jump out to an early lead that the Bald Eagles never relinquished as they downed The University of The District of Columbia (6-9-1) 2-0 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon in Washington D.C. Early in the game, Brian Flatter (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) placed a beautiful corner kick near the back post as Rims found himself unmarked and was able to head the ball into the back of the net for his first career goal and give LHU an early 1-0 lead.

Lock Haven was able to extend their lead to 2-0 in the 64th minute when Flatter received a touch pass from Beckham Sibiski (Kutztown, Pa./ Kutztown) and snuck the ball past the keeper for his seventh goal of the season.

The Bald Eagles outshot the Firebirds 16-10 in the game with a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. Rims, Flatter and Shane Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens) led the LHU offense with three shots apiece.

A strong all around showing by the LHU defense led to the team’s fifth shutout of the season. Goalkeeper Jason Keller (Port Matilda, Pa./ State College) made his third start of the season and play a solid game, consistently directing the defense and recording four saves.

Lock Haven will wrap of the regular season Saturday, October 27 when the team travels to California (Pa.) to take on the Vulcans. That game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.

Pfeil paces men’s cross country, Bald Eagles 16th at Pre-Nationals Doug Spatafore Sports Information Director dpatafo@lockhaven.edu PITTSBURGH – Aaron Pfeil (Pittsburgh/South Fayette) returned to his hometown area of Pittsburgh and led the Lock Haven University men’s cross country team to a solid 16th place showing vs. an elite Division II field at today’s Pre-Nationals meet, hosted by Slippery Rock University at the Bob O’Connor Golf Course at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh.

Pfiel was 62nd (scored 57th) out of 305 total runners. Lock Haven finished 16th out of 29 teams and the Bald Eagles picked up 12 dual wins.

The meet served as one of the largest Division II-specific meets in the country this season, and allowed teams to preview the course that will be used for the 2018 NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Championships on November 17 and the NCAA Division II National Championships set for December 1, both of which SRU will also host.

Today’s men’s and women’s races included a field of 32 total collegiate cross country teams. In all, schools represented 10 different states. Both the men’s and women’s fields included six nationally-ranked teams. The individual runners in the field today, represented 41 different states and 16 countries.

Pfeil covered the 8K course in 26:58.

Luke Vanderhoff (Hamburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley) was 96th (scored 87th) with a time of 27:23 and Brett Pope (Pleasant Gap, Pa./ Connections Commonwealth Academy) was 114th (scored 100th) with a run of 27:38.

Matthew Oscovitch (Andover, N.J./Misericordia) and Zack Skrabski (Pittsburgh/South Park) rounded out Lock Haven’s top-five today.

Oscovitch was 132nd (scored 110) and Skrabski was 162nd (scored 130) with times of 27:52 and 28:13, respectively.

LHU will return to action on Saturday, November 3 at the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships (at Edinboro).

Women’s Soccer celebrates Homecoming, Senior Day by clinching playoff berth Doug Spatafore Sports Information Director dpatafo@lockhaven.edu LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women’s soccer team (10-3-1, 10-31 PSAC) celebrated Homecoming and Senior Day in a big way as the Bald Eagles soared past Mansfield University (1-13, 1-13 PSAC), 6-0 in conference action. The win led to LHU clinching a spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) postseason tournament for first time since the 2006 season.

Prior to kickoff tonight, LHU head coach Kathy Brown and the Bald Eagles honored their 11 graduating seniors: Jordan Shoff (York, Pa./ York Suburban), Janelle Swartz (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata), Carly Spinuzza (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown), Gabby Kishbaugh (Berwick, Pa./Berwick), Kara Waskiewicz (Harleysville, Pa./ Souderton), Emily Vitale (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills), Zoe Shelly (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley), Ella Jones (Mohnton, Pa./Reading Area C.C.), Makayla Dickey (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain), Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) and Haley Predix (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County).

Leading the way tonight was Marah Foltz (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield), who had another two-goal game. She now has 15 goals on the season, the second-most ever recorded by a LHU women’s player during a single season. For her career, Foltz now has 21 goals, which now ranks No. 9 on the all-time career scoring list.

As of press time, Foltz led the PSAC in goals scored and ranked among the top-seven in all NCAA Division II women’s soccer. Today was her sixth two-goal game of the season.

Also finding their way onto the scoresheet in an offensive explosion for the Bald Eagles was Haleigh Swam (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) who opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a long range effort placed into the bottom corner. Josie Swartz (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) picked up a loose ball just minutes later and smashed home her effort off the near post and rattled home. In the second half Vitale hit a 25 yard shot over the keepers head and found the back of the net with style. Finishing out the scoring on senior night was senior left-back Janelle Swartz who collected a pass from Foltz in the 89th minute and calmly slotted the ball home for the picture perfect ending to her senior night.

Another stingy defensive effort for the Bald Eagles allowed only 3 shots. Led by seniors Jordan Shoff and Janelle Swartz. Bree Hilty pitched another clean sheet and was forced into only one save.

The win tonight, LHU’s 10th of the season marked the Bald Eagles first 10-win season since 2004. With the win today, Lock Haven clinched its first trip to the conference postseason tournament in 12 years.

Just two regular season games remain for the Bald Eagles. LHU will host Millersville University on Wednesday, October 24 at 7 p.m. in the team’s final home game of the regular season campaign. Lock Haven will close the regular season on Saturday, October 27 at California (Pa.).
