Golf Cart Parade Ignites LHU Homecoming Week 2022
News Sept. 16, 2022 4
Students were given three days to work on their carts in the Student Rec Cen ter, leading up to the parade on Thursday evening. Student Activities, the organization in charge of spon soring the event, provided a few supplies for students to use including cardboard, packing tape, colorful paper, and scissors. Whatever was not provided was left to the clubs to supply within their $75 budget.
The university and the Alumni Association also donated free food for the event. Among one of the biggest hits was the Bruster’s ice cream truck. At one point in the evening, a waiting line was form start ing around the university fountain and ended back by the Alumni Pavilion. According to Communica tion junior, Liz Kasmer, the wait time was at least 25 minutes.Other homecoming activities throughout the week included a free t-shirt hand out on Tuesday fol lowed by Haven Spirit Day and a hypnotist show on Wednesday.Allinall this student involvement event had an amazing turn out. The University Commons were full with students having a great time. Homecoming week is something students look forward to every year, and 2022 was no different.
In addition to the numerous games and activities, a photo booth and green screen was provided for students to take fun pictures that can be remembered for years to come.
Kim Harris, the Director of Student Involvement commented about how she felt about the 11th annual parade.

All Lock Haven clubs and organizations were offered a chance to join in on the golf cart parade. This year’s theme was “Adventure Awaits.”
Not only did the parade offer an engaging event for students to partake in and promote their clubs, but organizations had a chance to win $200 with their golf cart designs across five categories. Judging followed the parade and results will be announced on Oct.
Homecoming was in full swing this past week, full of LHU traditions and sports galore. The event that students look most forward to besides the football game on Saturday is the annual golf cart parade.

A total of 30 golf carts were a part of the parade featuring many on-campus clubs, organizations, and some offices, like Admissions. There were also a few carts dedicated for alumni.
“I’m feeling great about this year’s golf cart parade! We have had a great club turnout this year, and it has been wonderful to see the creative concepts dif ferent organizations have come up with for their carts,” she said.
The parade was full of creativity. Students had the opportunity to come up with a design for their club cart that they perceived would best match the presented theme. Ideas ranged from television shows (i.e, “Adventure Time” and “Little Einsteins”) and movies (i.e., “Ghostbusters” and “Back to the Fu ture”) to a Volkswagen van to even a huge boxer. While most of the design concepts were unique, there were a few overlapping ideas such as Scooby Doo’s Mystery Machine, Pixar’s “Up,” and pirate ships.
The Eagle Eye staff even had their own cart, with paper feathers covering the entire cart to form an eagle with a newspaper in its beak.
the parade, there was a lawn party located on the University Commons featuring music, games and food. There were several inflatable interac tive games for students to enjoy such as tug of war, boxing arena, soccer darts, and Connect 4. Various yard games, like ladder golf, cornhole, and Kan Jam, were also set up for stu dents to play.

“Feel It All Around” immediately puts the listener on a mind-bending trip with the slow and reverb-heavy sample of “I
Want You” by Gary Low. The backing vo cals push it over the edge, making this trip a dream no one would ever want to leave.4.
Some nights can be marred by rest lessness, anxiety, or even plain bore dom. Is there anything to do besides lay in bed and ponder the thoughts that won’t bother to leave? Music exists too, but it would be awkward throwing on a playlist that would ruin this late night mood that’s been built up by the lack of sleep. This playlist is curated with such mo ments in mind. The songs on here are focused on the chillwave genre of music, but there are one or two tracks that are mixed in that don’t fit within the niche microgenre’s definition.
“Late Night Vibes Only” Playlist
5. Polish Girl by Neon Indian - Per haps the masses want something more pop-centric in comparison to the other songs on here. In that case, Neon Indian has their back with his unique approach to pop songs. With a chiptune synth line that will haunt the listener for the rest of their day, “Polish Girl” redefines what chillwave can be.
Where’s that one from?
Resonance by HOME - There is a reason why many consider “Resonance” a classic in the chillwave genre as it be gins with an amazing synth intro which builds up towards a euphoric beat of inexplicable nostalgia.

3. Feel It All Around by Washed OutIs there anything better to set a dream like tone than with a chillwave track?
“The one one the gods care about is themselves.”
Last week’s movie: Shark Tale
1. Fingerbib by Aphex Twin - Legend ary electronic musician and all-around weirdo Aphex Twin is known for being eclectic in his songs. “Fingerbib” is one of the more upbeat yet dreamy tracks on his eponymous fourth album. The lush strings sit over his bouncy synths and glitchy beat perfectly. Is there a bet ter track to play while on a night drive through the city?
2. A Walk by Tycho - While “A Walk” may seem like the most slow-going song of the playlist, the drums will get your head nodding back and forth as soon as they kick in. The synth lines in the second half will reverberate in your head for the rest of your day.

Sept. 16, 2022
6. Fantasy by DyE - “Fantasy” holds a place in internet history for having a shocking, Junji Ito-esque music video, which eventually became a meme to show your friends. It’s a slight shame because the video overshadows a beau tifully melancholic song with a chorus that hooks the listener to their speak ers.7. What Did He Say by Nite JewelArguably one of the first noteworthy ef forts of chillwave was the album “Good Evening” by Nite Jewel. This lofi effort checks all of the boxes to be considered chillwave, but is much more of a hypna gogic pop album than anything else. A track that illustrates this best is “What Did He Say” with its stripped back in strumental and soft echoey vocal deliv ery.

Other games have no tutorial whatsoever. Take, for example, the game Stardew Valley, a 2016 release that remains popular six and a half years later. Its mechanics are simple, yet some tools are different than others and can not be used on certain items. For instance, upon re ceiving an upgraded watering can, the player can hold the activation button to water a further distance (first upgrade allowing for 3 tiles, then a block of 9 tiles, and so on). However, the game does not illude to this in any way and it’s up to the player to figure out (or to find on Stardew
Nevertheless, it seems to become more and more popu lar to not include any sort of tutorial in games, possibly due to the increase in gaming experience which makes tu torial less necessary. So if you’re not already a gamer but are interested, you should start sooner rather than later; otherwise, you might get left behind in the virtual world of no instruction. Game Over for Gaming Tutorials
Take the narrative driven game, Heavy Rain by Quan tic Dream, for instance. It opens on a scene in which one of the main characters the player controls is waking up for the day, taking a shower, and things of the like. The game indicates with symbols when a certain action needs to be performed with the controller, allowing the player to get used to the dynamic speed-dependent controls. The game doesn’t straight out tell the player: “This is a tuto rial.” Another game that does this is Portal 2. When begin ning the campaign, the main character Chel had woken up from a coma caused by a brain injury. The computer system used throughout the laboratory facility runs a few “health checks” by Chel, in which it tells the player to move around the room and stare at certain things. Simple subtitles such as “Look Around using the ® Thumb Stick” appear at the bottom of the screen, guiding the player alongside the in-character tutorial.

Whether you’re new to gaming or a veteran MLG (ma jor league gamer), the chances you’ve seen a tutorial in a video game are extremely high. Although, it’s not impos sible for someone to have played a few games and never encountered a tutorial. Most commonly, tutorials or begin ners’ instructions are found in games with complicated controls and key bindings. Although, if the game were based on a story line and focused on a particular charac ter, the tutorials become more subtle, as to not break the immersion of the narrative.
Wiki like the majority of players).
Then the gray area comes into play where a game of fers a tutorial but is not required. Many strategy-based games do this due to carried over mechanics and game franchises with regularly returning players. Syd Myer’s Civilization VI, a strategic turn-based empire building game, offers non-required tutorials. What’s unique about their tutorials that some people have yet to see in many other games, is the different skill level tutorials they offer to new players to the game, new to the franchise, or new to turn-based strategy games in general. This also tends to be the case for simulation and survival games such as The Sims 4 or Minecraft, where the player can restart their journey through the game with different saves. This way, those who are simply on their 30th household restart or 17th survival world can hop right to it without needing to go through the basics of the controls again.

Fall is back, which means it’s time for everything to be pumpkin-flavored! Due to the flavor only being seasonal, pumpkin flavoring is available from the beginning of fall to the end of winter. As a pumpkin spice fan, I look forward to trying new foods or beverages that are pump kin-flavored. I compiled a list of three easy-to-make pumpkin-flavored recipes that anyone can make in the comfort of their homes during the fall season.

Well, look no further - listed below are several new interesting "meals” - if you could even call them that - worth taking a shot at, as recommended by multiple members of the Eagle Eye staff.

As the introduction warned, not many of these are actu ally “meals” - but if you’re a college student going through it, whatever works will just have to do.
5. Pop Tarts are the perfect grab-and-go breakfast for early classes and are relatively cheap. They’re easy to eat on the run and come in a variety of flavors so you never get tired of the same old thing. There is a Chocolate Fudge flavor for sugar-lovers and Strawberry for the fruit fans. Pop Tarts also keep well in a dorm room or apartment and don’t take up too much space.
4. Peanut-butter jelly sandwiches are the best to-go snacks for college students. Not only is it cost efficient, it is full of fiber and protein! The classic combo of grape jelly and smooth creamy peanut-butter can soothe anyone’s hunger with just two slices of bread. To spice up your taste buds try using cranberry jelly with crunchy peanut-butter on wheat bread.

The gist behind the trend is workers only putting forth the baseline amount of effort into their job; noth ing more than what is needed. The concept has existed for forever, as some people are not happy working the job they are stuck with and would rather not push them selves by going beyond what’s required. In the view of a worker, this is certainly an understandable mindset to have, as they may only be getting paid minimum wage or are treated poorly by their higher ups.
Even with that being said, would anyone want the contractors building a house to do the bare minimum while making sure the house is structurally sound? Would anyone want the doctor in charge of their moth er’s kidney transplant to show any indication of laziness in the operating room? There is a hazy line with this trend and the kinds of workplaces it should be practiced in. Could this slippery slope lead people into hazardous situations for the workers, patients, businesses, and cus tomers involved? I certainly think so. What people decide to do in the workplace is their decision, and they deserve the repercussions most of them may get.
Quiet Quitting: Is it a big deal?

and less everyday. Had it been something I was passion ate about where I had respectful bosses and was getting paid a living wage, then there would be zero reason to practice quiet quitting.
You know those jobs that high school and college students take to get some extra cash? Working the reg ister at Walmart, flipping burgers at McDonald’s, wash ing dishes at a local restaurant - all dead end jobs that provide very little to no growth for the employee. These are the kinds of jobs I imagine quiet quitters are talking about.Coming from someone who has worked one of these jobs right out of high school, I despised it. Would I say I was “quiet quitting” though? Not necessarily, as I like to think I put in a lot of effort there, I made friends out of the coworkers there, and I was treated kindly by my bosses. What made me hate it was how it felt like a waste of time to me. $7.50 an hour for this job was too little for the workload, which eventually led me to do less
Social media is no stranger to sparking new trends. When one dies, five more pop up. However, do these trends impact your home life? They certainly might, as there are always creative people coming up with new ideas that can either help or hinder you at home. When it comes to work, on the other hand, you don’t typically see fads affecting your work style or environment. Recently, though, there is a new trend popping up all over TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, etc. that has some employers worried: quiet quitting.

thing more than a romance/family movie trying to be an action/adventure movie. This movie has lost sight of the Thor from the comics, tv shows and previous movies. This franchise is surviving solely on the popularity of their more original characters that were introduced in Phase one (20082012) and expanded upon in Phase two (2013-2015). Disney is drawing characters together and shoving them into similar situations or conflicts in order to attract fans of all facets of the MCU. They have most recently done so with She-Hulk when they decided to make the series as much about Wong as it is the title character.
She-Hulk, the latest of the MCU Disney+ series, is underwhelming to say the least. There is very little action. The ‘plot’ strays far from the more popular of the She-Hulk comics, has very little action and no defined villain. This tactic of no action and a lot of background has never worked well as seen from the 2015 rendition of the Fantastic Four. The latest of the MCU movies exposes a softer, more lost and ultimately disappoint ing Thor than watchers have seen in the past. MCU is MC-screwed
Phase one, consisting of six movies, was a beautiful masterpiece of moving parts and expansion in this new world. However, in recent years, the movies have gone down hill. These epic stories of mythic struggles and engaging drama now lack the vigor that the fans yearn to see.

The magic of Disney may not be as magical as it seems, especially when it comes to reboots and adaptations. Marvel is one of the most popular franchises that Disney bought, adapted and remade. This gave us amazing box-office-record-setting movies that grabbed the attention of the world.
The first movies made for the MCU were hits for comic book and movie fans alike. Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man movie in 2008 was made by Paramount Studios. Iron Man caught the attention of Disney, leading to their purchase of the franchise in 2009.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Despite a tremendous defen sive effort in the first half, which led to a 7-6 Lock Haven lead, the Bald Eagles (1-1) dropped their 2022 home-opener to visiting Mercyhurst (2-0) 49-7 tonight in Pennsylvania State Athletic Confer ence (PSAC) East-West Crossover action.

Lock Haven opened the season last weekend with a thrilling road-win at Post and looked to move to 2-0 tonight in front of a packed Hubert Jack Stadium crowd, but the visiting Lakers used a strong run-game in the second half, which provided 43 second-half points on the way to the win.
Leading the way for Lock Haven on the defensive side of the ball was Shane Scott (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) who piled up 10 total tackles. The senior linebacker also made a huge play on special teams when he blocked a punt and setup the Bald Eagles for their lone touchdown of the night.
After Scott’s blocked punt, Easton Turner (Ash burn, Va./Stone Bridge (Assumption)) converted on a quarterback keeper to give the Bald Eagles an early 7-0 lead. Turner ended the night with 63 yards rushing and added 104 yards through the air. Chase Holmes (Easton, Pa./Easton) led all Lock Haven receivers with four catches for 54 yards. DeAndre Wakefield (Norristown, Pa./Souderton) led all players with a monster night on the ground. The sophomore racked up 130 yards on 23 attempts, including a 45-yard burst the first quarter.
