Dear Sir/ Ma, INVITATION TO SPONSOR “GENES APART” -­‐ An Art Exhibition Introduction of The Duo Nkechi and Nduka Abii, are a mother-­‐son team who have the rich talent and ability of expressing themselves artistically through Painting, Speedart, Sculpting and Clothes Designing. They have both been involved in the arts for a number of years and have decided to share some of their work with the rest of the world.

Genes Apart The theme for this Exhibition and Fashion Show is “Genes ApART”. This theme has been derived based on their common interest in art and the diversity of their art styles, points of view as well as the reflection of art through fashion.

The proposed event will be held at Victoria Crown Plaza, in Victoria Island (Any change in venue details will be effectively communicated) .The opening event is tentatively scheduled to take place on the 24th of April, 2013 from 5pm – 10pm. The exhibition will be up for 3 days afterwards 25th-­‐27th of April.

This exhibition is rich! It is an amazing collection of mixed media and experiential new art! It is filled with different elements that reflect our culture and diversity as well as representations of new age art. The exciting heights that have been given to innovation and nouveau art can best be imagined!

There will be something new and interesting for everyone to appreciate and own.

Exhibition Objectives: • Encourages the family as a unit to work together to foster growth • Creates a much-­‐needed platform for organisations to support local talent as a form of Social Responsibility • Creates more awareness and appreciation for local artistry

ARTISTS’ PROFILE Find below a brief preview of the artists’ work and a brief bio to give a bit more insight into them and their work. Also included is a breakdown of the sponsorship categories.

Nkechi Abii was born in Imo state, on the 18th of September 1962. She studied Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where she specialised in Graphic Arts. She also participated in a 2 year programme at the Paris Academy School of Fashion in London.

She’s a born again Christian who enjoys reading and has a fashion designing outfit called Kechi’s Dress Makers. Her work is inspired by the world around her, nature, aesthetically pleasant things, socio political issues and things that affect her personally.

Nkechi has showcased her work in some exhibitions.

“Art Alive!” was her first solo exhibition held at the State Library, Owerri, Imo State in 1984.

“Back To Land” in 1985 was Nkechi’s joint exhibition of graphics, textile and paintings which took place in Akure, Ondo State.

In 1986, the “Creative Sorority” another joint exhibition took place at Owerri and Anambra State, respectively.

Then there was Efe in 1987, an exhibition of indigenous materials made into wearing apparels used to adorn the body with traditional motifs, which included Agbada, George, Brocade, Akwete, Oja, Adire, Hayes headies. As an artist, she used the same principles of colour, harmony lines and space employed by a painter in the rendition of picture on fabric.

Nkechi lives and works in Lagos and is married with three kids.

Nduka Abii was born on the 14th of August, 1990. He attended Christ the Cornerstone Primary and High School till JS3 when he moved to Supreme Educational Foundation where he completed his Senior Secondary Education. He attended Ringling College of Art and Design, Florida and Columbus College of Art and Design, Ohio respectively, where he studied Art for 2 years.

His Inspiration comes from the weirdest places most times, largely originating from the situations he finds himself in. Mentally, that greatly contributes to his Art direction whether it is good or bad. As a youngster he lived right next to a comic book mart which also contributed hugely to his Art style which tends to look very dark and mysterious.

He is also largely inspired by music which in his own words “Tells me what to do right before I put my paintbrush down on the canvas. Over everything is love. Love is the driving force for every one of my strokes.”

His other hobbies include: Art Research, Video games and Music production and he’s also a bit of a tech junkie.

Nduka presently lives in Lagos.

ART COLLECTION – a selection Title: Faces of the Nigerian woman Igbo Woman: Ngozi Artist: Nkechi Abii This is a representation of the bust of an Igbo woman's outing attire. Down to the style of tying of the head scarf and her lace scarf. Including the red neck bead called Aka.

Title: Scavengers.

A satire Artist: Nkechi Abii The Vultures depict politicians, people in authority and high offices in Nigeria. They are represented by the cap styles of the 3 main tribes in Nigeria: Hausa, (Blue) Igbo (Red) and Yoruba (Purple). The scarf (Pink) represents women, all 'chopping' the so called national cake in a messy manner!

Title: Rape of Naija Artist: Nkechi Abii Nigeria is always represented by a green woman. Most of the time, she appears naked. This picture symbolises her rape and a gallery of some of her most (in) famous molesters.
