Welcome to October Members!

Our first annual Family Carnival in honor of Grandparent’s Day was a sell-out success! Over 120 people of all ages attended to try their hand at carnival games, arts and crafts, and win prize bags. Successful programs continued to flourish in September. Our Soul Dance Social was a hit with the new instructor Joyce. Our Great Getaway Adult Daytrip to Asilomar offered participants the chance to learn about birdlife and the history of the State Park and indulge in a fresh seafood lunch. Sandy Decker was back to offer Magic Movie Tour. To welcome the upcoming change in seasons, members got creative at Hands on Art making festive beautifully adorned fall wreaths. September’s Food for Thought discussion brought people together to learn all about apples and taste delicious apple goodies donated from Whole Foods and Maple Leaf Donuts of Los Gatos. Big thank you to those of you that helped donate over $200 toward the Alzheimer's Association. The 55 Plus Program was present at Assembly member Gail Pellerin’s CareFair in recognition of suicide prevention month and gathered new resources and guest speakers to bring to you. Our 55 Plus Team is also delighted to introduce Brooke Moreno – stop by the 55 Plus office to introduce yourself!

Join us on October 1st for an informative Mental Health training course “Be Sensitive Be Brave”. We are excited to bring back our teen volunteers who will be leading Teen Tech and Table Games twice a month. This group is eager to interact with you so bring in your devices and tech questions or come socialize over some fun table games! Check out the PRINT calendar for dates and times. Have a favorite game? Bring it in! Please wear Orange on October 16th for Unity Day, a visible sign of building commUNITY through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Learn Science Based Ways to Boost your Immune System during this month's guest speaker talk with Sally Duplantier. Carve out some time to get in the spooky spirit with a few fun freaky Friday activities. Jackie will host a special edition of Food for Thought, “Halloween Lore and Goodies Galore”. Brooke will transform the lounge into Honeydukes Sweetshop and host a Harry Potter viewing party. We’ll also showcase a Halloween classic and trivia. Have a gourd time at the Friday Social Line Dance on October 25th. Dress up in a costume (or orange and black) and join Mandi for a monster mash in the haunted hall. Let the ghoul times roll!
