Sending warm wishes to Members this June, Jackie

Happy June Members,

May was Mental Health Awareness month, and our members learned how to respond to mental challenges in adults by attending a free Mental Health First Aiders course. Boost Your Mood guest speaker, Kelly Weisburg Ph.D. reminded us how important it is to be aware of our surroundings to prevent falls and traffic accidents in her presentation on “Mindfulness and Aging.” We learned about available hearing support and devices from the experts at Hearing Life. Mother's Day High Tea was a grand affair, as we raised our teacups in celebration of close to 100 mothers in attendance. The Kiwanis Club volunteers dished out platters overflowing with sandwiches, and Michelle, from Rotary, provided lovely floral centerpieces. Susan tickled the ivory, adding her melodies to the backdrop of the event. Ivy Park donated several gift baskets raffled off to the ladies and to May Bingo winners. Thank you to all the generous people who bring joy to our members with their support, talents, and time! Food for Thought participants came to swap family recipes for Jackie’s “Make it Like Mom” edition of the program. Team Trivia players answered questions about famous moms and babies. Team May Flowers took home carnation bouquets!

In June, find many ways to stay activeKiana's Zumba classes return with a few spots left. Register for summer sessions of Balance Awareness with Melissa at an earlier time, double up on Advanced Balance class with a new Friday session and spend your Monday’s and Fridays with Mary Ann at Stay Fit. Water Workouts with Kiana resume and are almost full. This month, Brooke’s Paint Party will work on a guided painting of a beach scene just in time for summer. Note- the program has shifted to an earlier time (9AM). Join our Boost

Your Mood group every second Tuesday of the month. June’s topic is meditation techniques and features a guest speaker from the Dhyan Foundation. Lastly, this summer, Mah Jongg is gaining a second day of the week for drop-in play on Fridays from 10AM – 12PM. Want to use peddle boats or kayaks on Vasona Lake, socialize in the shade, play lawn games, and eat hotdogs and ice cream? For just $5 you can come to Vasona Boats & BBQ on either 6/16 or 7/16. Our annual summer picnic is also on the horizon! On July 28th, we head to Friendship Hall for live music, burgers, and swag. Sign up today for $5 and let us know if you would like to ride on our free charter bus, which will shuttle members to the picnic from Los Gatos. Seats are limited.

Thank you Sue for playing!
