Welcome to February Members,

January brought a flurry of activity. Members tried something new with Bucketeers, crafted key chains with Jackie, and stylized keepsake boxes with Stephanie. A full house gathered to celebrate the New Year. At the Gala members enjoyed a Basil Sangria Mocktail, appetizers, played games for prizes, and sang along to Auld Lang Syne with the live band, Seascape Sounds, as the ball dropped. Our sincere thanks to the Rotary Club of Los Gatos for sponsoring this event and for volunteering alongside us to make it a spectacular evening full of dancing and good cheer. Food for Thought was devoted to game day appetizers to please a crowd in preparation of the Super Bowl, which will take place in Santa Clara on February 8th. Members learned about America’s favorite sport and left with a plethora of recipes to try out at home. Super Bowl Sunday is sure to be a tasty affair even if our 49ers have been eliminated. Thank you to members Alva, Ignacio, Irina, and Kim for lending a helping hand with this program! Resolutions for good health were aided by this month's duo of local guest speakers. Max of Mint Fitness Personal Training studio covered strategies and exercises to build balance and Dr. Andrea of Advanced Chiropractic presented on staying strong through your spine and nervous system. At the end of the month, we welcomed back Mary Ann from West Valley College instructing Stay Fit and Balance Awareness.

February will also bring fervor and fun! We are launching a new free fitness program “Advanced Balance” in partnership with instructor Melissa from West Valley College on Wednesdays. Brooke will lead another fun paint party capturing serene sunsets. 55 Plus members can volunteer to lend a helping hand with crafts and cookie decorating at a family event for ages 3+, "Cupids Crafts and Cookies", celebrating Valentines Day on Saturday, February 7th. A second $5 Yoga class has been added on Tuesdays to help meet demand. Back by popular demand, guest speaker Sally Duplantier will explore the science behind our love of sugar and help us with practical tips to kick cravings! Team trivia is back and will continue monthly, and Food for Thought will focus on Heart Healthy Foods.

Sending Love to All of our Members this February, Lisanne Kennedy, Recreation Coordinator
