THE PRINT - February 2025

Happy February Members,

Just like that 2025 is well underway! We are excited to start the new year with over 600 members. Thank you for being part of our community. Members were looking fabulous as we rang in the New Year in style at our social and enjoyed Live Music by Cook N’ Fenny. Our Social Dance tried something new with our Irish Dance instructor and participants tried both solo and cooperative dances. We welcomed back Ed who instructs Art and Music Appreciation and Mary Ann who instructs Stay Fit and Balance Awareness, free programs in partnership with West Valley College. Please register with the 55 Plus office for these classes. Because the instructors are provided by the college we need to submit a class roster. The college will then assign you a student number and officially register you in the class. We do this administrative work behind the scenes to make the registration process more convenient for participants, so you do not have to complete the application process on your own. Thank you to those of you that completed the year end electronic survey. Our team values your feedback and will work to put your suggestions in motion this year, starting in February!

February will be a busy month for members. AARP Tax Aide appointments will be underway on Monday mornings, and packets are now available for pickup. Our guest speaker will present on Healthy Living for the Brain and Body. We are very excited to host a special Chinese New Year celebration for this month's Social Dance on 2/7 with beloved Zumba instructor Kiana. Jackie will be running two new programs this month. Prepare your book recommendations and attend “Paperback Pals”. While we work to bring in a formal grief support group, Jackie will lead “Healing Hearts Grief Support”, open to all. Volunteer Sandy Decker is back for magic movie tour and showing “Valentines Day” in the lounge. Our team of Teen Volunteers has been working hard in preparation of Februarys feature tech topic “Ride Share Apps”. They will also be teaching and playing the featured table game “Rummikub”. We have received requests from our ongoing Canasta and Mah Jongg groups to open a second day of the week to come in and play so we will trial this in the afternoon on the 13th and 20th for tabletop open play. A new Zumba CHAIR class will start at the end of the month. Be sure to check out the full newsletter for more details and upcoming events. A fun filled February awaits!
