AUGUST FEATURE
Sending warm wishes to Members this August, Jackie Ward, Assistant Recreation Coordinator
Happy August Members, We were so happy to welcome a full house at the summer picnic on July 28. The burgers and ice cream were delicious, but the company was even better. Thank you again to our generous sponsors: Vasona Creek Healthcare, El Camino Health, Los Gatos Thrives, Mint Condition Fitness, and Jewish Family Services. Also, a huge shout out to the LG Lions Club to help fund and work at the event. We cannot forget to thank LG Whole Foods for providing many burger toppings and fruit for the occasion. The Cook ‘n Fenny Combo were back to provide live music for the event, and members left with LGS Recreation resistance bands to make exercising at home more convenient. Other July highlights included a Food for Thought program dedicated to the importance of hydration, Team Trivia with World Cup questions and themed prizes, and a special guest speaker, Jeannette Marsala, who taught attendees all about Estate Planning. We also went back to Vasona Lake for one more round of boats and BBQ! Whether our members chose pedal boats, kayaks, or canoes, or simply socialized onshore eating hotdogs and ice cream, everyone had a wonderful time in the park. New faces showed up and left with new friends.
As the summer comes to a close, and we head towards the fall season, there are many things to add to your calendars. Please note that in August – West Valley College is on break, so we are offering a FREE Sit and Be Fit class with Angela on Mondays and Fridays at 1PM (August 10-28th). Boost Your Mood group is back to continue developing the concept of making acquaintances into friends, on Tuesday, August 11th at 1:30PM. Please join us to learn tips to strengthen bonds and make new connections, sometimes challenging as an adult. Team Trivia will take place on August 13th from 10AM-12PM, so come meet new friends and try to win a prize. Food for Thought, on August 14th from 3PM TO 4PM, will teach you all about one of the best foods on earthPizza! Plus, you will get to eat a slice while you learn. Art and Music with Ed will return from September 2nd to December 16th. Save the date and start enrolling for the September Member Mixer, which takes place on Friday, September 25th from 5PM until 6:30PM. This is a free social event with appetizers, games, and our own in-house DJ, Brooke! We hope to see you often and soon!
