SEPTEMBER FEATURE
Sending warm wishes to Members, Jackie Ward, Assistant Recreation Coordinator
SAY HELLO TO SEPTEMBER, MEMBERS Let’s first take a look back at all that August had to offer. A few “Thank you!”s are due: To members for their flexibility and patience as we shuffled groups and classes during the new roof construction; To other members for understanding when we had to postpone a few favorites for two weeks due to these repairs; and to Angela for leading Sit and Be Fit programs while West Valley College was on break. We will be ready to weather El Nino’s storms now with our brand-new roof! At Food for Thought, we sampled four different types of pizza while learning about the history and recipes for this beloved dish, we enjoyed learning about healthy meals at our guest speaker presentation, at Boost Your Mood group we found ten things we all had in common as we made and strengthened friendships, members made gorgeous garden steppingstones with Stephanie at Hands on Art, and painted lovely koi fishponds on canvases with Brooke at Paint Party. These were all free events for our members, but remember you must sign up in advance and space can often be limited.
In September there's no slow down and we look forward to seeing you! West Valley College courses and exercise classes resume, including Balance Awareness and Stay Fit. Standing Low Impact Fitness with Angela returns. Kiana’s various Zumba classes continue to go strong! Our guest speaker on September 10th will cover the important topic of “Building Better Brain Health”. Boost Your Mood will focus on making small changes that will make you feel amazing again (or even more amazing). Team Trivia is back with new topics and prizes or come to shout “Bingo!” and win a surprise on September 10th. We welcome West Valley College’s Ed back for another session of the much missed “Art and Music Appreciation” beginning on September 2nd. Above all, you will not want to miss our September Member Mixer, which takes place on Friday, September 25th from 5:00PM - 6:30PM. This is a free social event with appetizers, games, and our own inhouse DJ, Brooke! RSVP with the 55 Plus Office by calling 408.354.1514 so we can add you to the party’s roster. Bocce Ball at Joan Pisani is back October 2nd 2:00 - 4:00PM. The Thanksgiving Luncheon and Holiday Social are also on the horizon. Inquire with the 55 Plus Office to sign up. We hope to see you often and soon!
