THE PRINT - October 2025

Page 1

Welcome to October Members,

This September we set a new record of ONE THOUSAND members! Thank you so much for being part of this community! Our team is so excited that we are throwing a November Member Mixer to celebrate. Save the date and RSVP for Friday November 14th from 4:00PM-5:30PM to join us for hors d'oeuvres, raffle prizes, games and mingling with other members. September also saw three fun Great Getaways to Elkhorn Slough, a Social Dance with live music, free S.E.A.T classes, a fun Hands on Art Class experimenting with alcohol inks, Oktoberfest themed Food for Thought, and our first member Paint Party! Thanks to all who came to try their brush at fall sunflowers.

Attention ping pong players, did you know that LGS hosts a Table Tennis Club at the Joan Pisani Community Center? For the remainder of 2025, 55 Plus members get FREE access. Check it out online or ask the front office.

This October we have more fall fun and informative things for you to take part in. BINGO has been moved to the first Thursday of the month. There have been several changes to our Fall Fitness schedule, so please check out the updates on the calendar or ask a 55 Plus staff member. Stay Fit and Balance Awareness are on hold for the month of October. As an alternative we will offer a new FREE Sit and Be Fit with Angela on Fridays and on Mondays there will be FREE Chair Zumba with Kiana followed by FREE Chair Exercises with Jackie. We know how important it is to keep moving! We have two Guest Speakers this month, attorney Barbara Nesbet will lead a workshop on Estate Planning & Trust Administration, a topic we get asked a lot of questions about and hope you will learn a lot from! Later in the month a panel of experts will discuss and answer all your questions on Downsizing. A Bocce Social at the Joan Pisani Center and Chair Volleyball are both back this month by popular demand.

Also, this October, we have some new programs starting. Jackie’s Jewels Beading Workshops begin and we look forward to seeing the boo-tiful creations! Do you know what 1925 horror film, based on Gaston Leroux’s novel of the same name, was made into a successful Broadway musical? If you knew the answer was Phantom of the Opera, join us on the 17th for our new Trivia program! Come with a team of 4 people or as a free agent to be paired up with others. Lastly, to get in the Halloween spirit we are looking for 55 Plus representatives to hand out glow sticks and stickers to the library’s children costume parade following story time on the 31st. Meet us in the lounge at 11:00AM to get goodies to hand out. Come dressed in orange and black or costume! We will walk over to the library at 11:15AM. Secure your spot at October’s Food for Thought, Trick or Treat edition and start planning your costume! Costumes are encouraged, and a prize will be awarded to the best costume!

Witching you a fab-boo-lous October, Lisanne Kennedy Recreation Coordinator
