NOVEMBER FEATURE Sending warm wishes to Members, Lisanne, Recreation Coordinator
WELCOME TO NOVEMBER MEMBERS! October was full of fall fun. Great Getaway bus trips enjoyed time in Coastal Carmel cruising 17mile drive, a “How It’s Made” style Jelly Belly’s and Olive Oil tour, and a cruise around Alcatraz. Bocce was back and members enjoyed a warm fall day in Saratoga trying to land their bocce's closest to the pallino. Hands on Art designed holiday inspired door mats. Our guest speaker was Doug Dixon from Live Better Financial. This year LGS Recreation celebrated our 70th anniversary. Thanks to all who came to boogie at the Decades Dance! Brooke hosted the final Team Trivia event of the year, this program will return in 2027. Healing Hearts was hosted by local expert Lucia Galindo. Lucia will be back in December as our guest speaker. Food For Thought learned more about Diwali and taste tested Indian Food. A huge thank you to local restaurant NAMASTE for their generous donation! Halloween was celebrated with pumpkin painting, and a Halloween Howl Spooky Sing-A-Long with Claudette and Ed.
2026 Great Getaways are sold out, but there are several 2027 trips now available, including Treasures of the Pharaohs, Lunar New Year @ Davies Symphony Hall, and Buena Vista Social Club plus dinner at Cascal. Check out the back cover for more info!
MEET OUR NEW ASSISTANT COORDINATOR – KATIE THOMPSON Stop by the 55 Plus office to help give Katie a warm welcome. Katie is excited to join our team, she graduated from San Francisco State University with a bachelors in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration. She studied abroad in St. Petersburg Russia and Costa Rica. Katie is a wife and a fun nurturing mother of two brilliant young men, Benny 12 and Sebastian 5. Katie has always been an animal lover and is especially fond of horses. She grew up in Iowa, participating in local horse shows, and was a part of 4-H, Pony Club, and Girl Scouts. She started volunteering at a young age and is passionate about equine therapy. In her down time, you might catch her at a dog park, working on diamond paintings, doing nails, looking up healthy crockpot meals on TikTok, practicing Spanish, and getting her boys outdoors.
This November, we would like to share our gratitude for all of you! Thank you for being a 55 Plus Member. We look forward to joining together for Thanksgiving Lunch with a hot catered feast from Los Gatos Meats. Thank you to this year's amazing sponsors Vasona Creek Healthcare and Katie will be the go-to person for Trips, Boost Your Los Gatos Lions who will also be volunteering Mood, Food For Thought, and we look forward to during the event.
