Refund Policy

Charge is per participant, per program unless otherwise stated.

General Refund Policy: Refunds and Transfers are permitted up to 5 business days before start of program with cancellation fee applied unless otherwise stated. Refunds are NOT issued within 4 business days of the program’s start date. Any request outside of the standard refund policy may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis at LGS Recreation discretion. Refunds and credits are not issued for absences. Refund Fee: $25 for classes over $100, $10 for classes up to $100.

Transfer Fee: $10 per participant, per program.

Code of Conduct

LGS Recreation is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for participants, visitors, and staff. Individuals are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times and adhere to all program, District, Local, State and Federal Laws, Regulations, and/or local ordinances with regard to behavior. Failure to comply may result in losing the temporary or permanent privilege of using LGS facilities and/or participating in programs.

General Information

“No Class” Dates: See online class descriptions for individual class meetings and “no class” dates.

Materials Fees: As applicable, see website description for details.

Cancellations: If enrollment is low, we may cancel the class. A full refund will be issued within 4–6 weeks.

Make–Ups: Recreation cancellations only.

Waiting Lists: Once a class is filled, your name is put on a waiting list. Lists are not held from one session to the next. Returned Check: A $25 fee will be charged for each returned check.

Foreign Currency: We do not accept foreign currency. Holiday: 12/22-1/2, 1/19, 2/16, 2/20, 5/25

Book your next event using the LGS Recreation online facility request and rental system, designed to provide a positive user experience for all. Reservation requests can be submitted easily and will be handled efficiently. A community-focused program dedicated to offering enriching sensory and art classes for babies and toddlers. We create a supportive and engaging environment where young children can explore, learn, and develop essential skills.

BABY & ME Adjusting to life with a new baby can be exciting and challenging. Join other parents and guardians who are in the trenches with you as you navigate these early days together. Materials Fee: $10.

TODDLER & ME Students engage in free and sensory play, practice peer socialization, and have snack (provided) as a group. Parents and guardians will strengthen their support network and discuss ways to manage toddler behaviors, routines, and transitions. Materials Fee: $10.

BABY SENSORY CLASS These classes are designed to stimulate your baby’s senses and support their early development. Activities include gentle music, textured toys, visual stimulation, and interactive play. Materials Fee: $5.

SENSORY ART & EXPLORATION Classes have dedicated themes, sure to engage your little one in both age appropriate sensory experiences and process art. We celebrate the process and never lose sight of igniting creativity and following the child’s lead. We will engage the seven elements of art: color, shape, line, texture, space, form and value. VALENTINE’S EVE - KIDS NIGHT OUT Children enjoy a mixed media art party (painting, clay and collage) with snack breaks while parents take time for themselves.

YOUTH POTTER’S WHEEL Beginners learn to prepare clay, center it on the wheel and pull cylinders, bowls, cups, and possibly plates. Intermediates will refine skills, experiment with larger forms and lids, and learn more about glaze chemistry and firing. Small class size with individualized instruction.

SPARKLE & SHINE - JEWELRY MAKING FOR BEGINNERS Explore creativity with a splash of color and texture. Our age-appropriate techniques, including beading and finger knitting, are designed to improve hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and patternmaking abilities. Materials Fee: $45.

WEARABLE ART & COSTUME DESIGN Using up-cycled materials and safe stitching techniques, kids learn the power of transformation, turning old clothes into bold, wearable statements. Along the way, they develop fine motor skills, self-expression, and an understanding of sustainability. Materials Fee: $45.

BINARY BEADING - CODE, CREATE & COMMUNITY Students use colorful beads and binary code to craft jewelry that hides secret messages. It’s a fun, hands-on way to explore early coding and creative design all at once. Materials Fee: $45.

BEGINNING WESTERN Understand how to stop, start, steer your horse, how to control it at the walk and trot, while keeping good form and position. The horse is saddled and ready to go, all you need is to show up in long pants and hard-soled shoes with heels.

BEGINNING ENGLISH Learn to master the art of posting while trotting, as well as using the reins in two hands. We’ll review the basics of stop, start, steer at the walk and trot while teaching the nuances of riding in an English Saddle. There will be some patternwork and poles to work over, as well.

INTERMEDIATE ENGLISH & WESTERN Practice all that you have learned and add in specific techniques for asking the horse to move forward, backwards, and sideways. Learn how to canter or lope your horse with control and form.

Swim lessons will be offered throughout the school year with both group and private lessons available. Youth and adult lessons may be available both weekday afternoons and weekends based upon instructor availability. Semi-private swim lessons available upon request. Lap swim is available throughout the week and on weekends at the LGHS Aquatics Center. Our outdoor pool is open yearround and heated to a comfortable 81°F. For the most up-to-date schedule and to reserve a lane, please visit our website.

MASTERS SWIM

Los Gatos Masters welcomes swimmers of all abilities, age 18 or over, who are interested in regular, structured workouts. Previous competitive swimming experience is not necessary. Los Gatos Masters (LGM) is a registered US Masters Swimming (USMS) program and each participant must be registered through the USMS in order to reserve a lane for Masters Swim workouts.

LEVEL 1 All ages and abilities will focus on the first seven movements of the Yang Style Long Form, which are then tied to a self-contained and complete practice that students can do at home. The course introduces the history of Tai Chi, a set of qigong warm-ups, a number of Tai Chi basic exercises, partner practices, and health tips from a Chinese medicine perspective.

LEVEL 2 An ongoing class where students learn the complete 108-movement Yang Style Long Form. Continuing students may also work on advanced Tai Chi exercises (solo or partner), applications, and Jian and staff. Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan and stick practices are available.

LEVEL 3 Practice elements of Chen style Tai Chi and other advanced topics. Instructor must give approval for class from Level II course.

GENERAL PROGRAM REGISTRATION LIABILITY WAIVER/INDEMNITY: The undersigned, in consideration of participation in the programs operated by Los Gatos –Saratoga Community Education and Recreation (LGS Recreation), agrees to indemnify and hold harmless LGS Recreation, its Board of Directors, contractors, employees and volunteers, and waive and release LGS Recreation, its Board of Directors, contractors, employees and volunteers, from any and all liability for any injury or death which may be suffered by the named individual(s) participating in programs operated by LGS Recreation, or arising out of, or in any way connected with participation in such programs. I have read the above application and agreement, and fully understand that I assume all risks for any such injuries or death.

PHOTOGRAPHY RELEASE: I hereby grant permission to include pictures and/or video of me and/or said minor(s) (without the use of names), while participating in LGS recreation program, for brochures or other publicity, and release the photographer and LGS Recreation from liability for any violation of any personal or proprietary right I or my minor(s) might have in connection with any reproduction of or use of photographs in which I or my minor(s) appear. LGS Recreation and its photographer will only take photographs and videos in a public setting in which there is not a reasonable expectation of privacy. I understand that neither I nor my minor(s) will-not receive any compensation for the use of such pictures or video. This Waiver of Claims/Assumption of Risk/Consent applies to future participation in all programs of LGS by all signatories and minors on whose behalf it has been signed.

DIGITAL REGISTRATION: Agreement to Term: LGS Recreation offers digital registration for the convenience of program participants. I agree that electronically registering for LGS Recreation activities, including clicking the “I agree” button, hereby constitutes a legally binding signature and agreement to all terms and conditions stated herein, and shall have the same binding force and effect as a physical signature.

CONCUSSION PROTOCOL: I understand and acknowledge that if participating in a program listed in CA Health and Safety Code 124235, the enrolled participant is subject to concussion protocol as outlined in CA Health & Safety Code 124235 which includes “Return to Play” procedures

VIRTUAL CLASSES: Participants of virtual recreation classes acknowledge they are responsible for ensuring their environment is safe/ free from obstructions and bear sole responsibility for, and thereby release LGS Recreation from, any liability arising out of use of thirdparty applications (e.g., Zoom, Instagram, etc.) on their personal devices.

CODE OF CONDUCT: LGS Recreation is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for participants, visitors, and staff. Individuals are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times and adhere to all program, District, Local, State and Federal Laws, Regulations, and/or local ordinances with regard to behavior. Failure to comply may result in losing the temporary or permanent privilege of using LGS facilities and/or participating in programs. LGS Recreation reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason that does not violate federal, state, or local discrimination laws.

GENERAL REFUND AND TRANSFER FEE: Refunds and Transfers are permitted up to 5 business days before the start of program unless otherwise stated. No Refunds issued for requests 4 business days or less. Any request outside of the standard refund policy may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis at LGS Recreation discretion. Refunds and credits are not issued for absences. Family Day Trips and Great Getaway Adult Bus Trips - No refunds. 55 Plus Membership - No Refunds.

Los Gatos-Saratoga Community Education and Recreation is a joint powers agency formed in 1956 by the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District. Commonly known as “LGS Recreation”, the department was re-organized by the three local school districts as a separate joint powers agency to ensure the effective and efficient provision of community education and recreation services to the communities of Los Gatos, Saratoga, Monte Sereno, and Mountain Communities.
