ASSUMPTION OF THE RISK AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY RELATING TO CORONA VIRUS/ COVID-19 The novel corona virus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend social distancing and have, in many locations, prohibited the congregation of groups of people. Further, attending any program may increase your child(ren)s risk of contracting COVID-19. LGS Recreation’s programs by nature involve interaction between and among participants and agency staff, as well as potential interaction between and among parents who are dropping off their children and/or observing the program. By signing this agreement, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my child(ren) and I may be exposed to, or infected by COVID-19 by attending, and/or transporting my children to, LGS Recreation programs, activities, or events, and of the named perils listed below. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at LGS Recreation programs, activities, or events may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to, LGS Recreation employees, volunteers, and program participants and their families. I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any and all named perils and/or injury to my child(ren) or myself, including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death, illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that I, my child(ren), or others, may experience or incur in connection with my child(ren)’s attendance at LGS Recreation programs. On my behalf, and on behalf of my child(ren), I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless LGS Recreation, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from the Claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating to the above named perils in connection with my child(ren)’s attendance at LGS Recreation programs. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of LGS Recreation, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any LGS Recreation program.

Adult Trips GREAT GETAWAYS ADULT TRIPS

Nature Activities with Greg Meyer Equipment Fee: $60 paid to instructor on the day of trip NEW SHOREBIRDS BY KAYAK Every fall shorebirds make an epic journey through California on their way to the Southern Hemisphere. We will use kayaks to gently observe these birds as they are not fearful of the boats and are focused on their own activities. Before the trip we will have a short evening class to discuss identification of these birds and their unbelievable lives. SOUTH BAY KAYAK South San Fransisco Bay is a wonderful spot to sea kayak and enjoy the beautiful fall weather. We will explore the Palo Alto shoreline, talk about the history of Ravenswood and look at the remains of the Dumbarton Railroad Bridge. REDWOOD CREEK KAYAK is a South Bay adventure as we kayak Redwood Creek and the shoreline of Bair Island. This is a very large, protected marsh in South San Francisco Bay with lots of wildlife, historic roots and a great story about Bay Area conservation that has allowed this area to remain wild and undeveloped. SUNSET KAYAK ES Elkhorn Slough is a great destination to enjoy kayaking during the sunset surrounded by scenic views, miles of marshland and lots of wildlife. In the late afternoon, the slough is quiet and peaceful and the animals begin moving and feeding in preparation for the evening. This is a great time to paddle this wonderful, coastal hotspot. NEW SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS BURN ZONE The CZU fire was a historic reset in the Santa Cruz Mountains, burning thousands of acres of protected and developed habitat. On this moderate 4 mile hike at Fall Creek Redwoods, purposefully planned during the annual fire season, we will look for signs of destruction and regeneration as we discuss fire ecology, climate change and the evolving beauty of our local mountains. BIRD WATCHING FUNDAMENTALS Birds are all around us and this class will introduce you to the exciting hobby of birding. Our evening class will discuss optics, field guides and the classification of major bird groups. We will follow that with two field trips to watch land birds and waterfowl. We will also learn about great places to go, the natural history of birds, tips on attracting birds to your yard and how to pursue the feather quest here and abroad. December 4th and December 10th’s class locations will be discussed on November 29th.
