Lake Grapevine Runners and Walkers March 2017 Dear It has been an interesting month for running with unseasonably warm weather. February has always been the month of transitioning from cold winter runs to slightly warmer spring weather. However, this month's warm weather has made deciding what to wear a challenge. Runner's World recently published the ultimate tip sheet that gave me a few reminders for a safe and healthy weather transition. First, always have water on hand both before and after your run. Invest in a pair of running shoes that fit well and remember, shoes have a mileage life. When training, go for distance rather than time and don't worry about your pace. Include rest days and build mileage gradually while setting small achievable goals. These things help your body adjust as the weather gets warmer. I must admit, even though I have been running regularly for years, I like to revert back to the basics to prevent injury and reach goals. This past month has been an exciting month for RAW members. Nearly 30 guests came out and enjoyed our 20th Anniversary President's Day Happy Hour in February. Everyone enjoyed the happy hour with other RAW members over pizza and drinks while honoring all of RAW's past presidents. Along with Cowtown, RAW runners have participated in races both at home and away. We had a group of runners from RAW that ran the half or full marathon in New Orleans this past month. RAW members enjoyed both the race and some good Cajun food during their visit. Closer to home, several RAW members participated in the the 31st Annual Haltom Stampede. See Helene Walker's article below to find out just how well our club was represented at the race. This club is full of volunteers, and we have a number of volunteer opportunities for those who are interested. These opportunities include joining our board of directors, being part of the nominating committee, and working on this FOOTPRINT. Read the article in this FOOTPRINT that outlines volunteer opportunities in more detail. We have a lot of exciting activities for RAW members planned this spring. Upcoming events include our regular Newbie Sunday Breakfast at the clubhouse on Sunday, March 5. Come out as we welcome new members to our club. On that same day, we are hosting a CPR class for RAW members at the Grapevine REC. See the notice below for more details. See you at the lake. Diane Hernandez VP and Acting President

Support to Terry Marcott and Family RAW sends our warmest thoughts and prayers to Terry Marcott and his family during his difficult fight against stomach cancer. The Marcott family appreciates the generosity of RAW members who have been providing them with meals over the last few weeks. The family has been at Terry's bedside throughout this ordeal. Your meals relieve a tremendous burden from them having to leave the hospital,
