Lake Grapevine Runners and Walkers January 2016 Dear Lake Grapevine December started out with a festive and wellattended Holiday Party at Lancaster Theatre in downtown Grapevine. Nannette Poole and Monica Waite teamed up to make sure everything was taken care of and went off without a hitch. They put a lot of work into planning and I heard nothing but glowing compliments about the party. Thank you to them, as well as everyone else who helped make the party a success! The Dallas Marathon aid station was another roaring success, headed up by Joe Luccioni and staffed by dozens of LGRAW volunteers. It was great to see everyone on a warm, rainy day, and the conditions didn't deter any of the volunteers. I think I know how Meb must feelas I ran my half marathon through the aid station and heard everyone yelling my name. It was a great feeling! Unfortunately, the Bold in the Cold was cancelled due to flooding conditions on the course and the parking area. However, our Board of Directors came up with a fair resolution for people who had already registered. Identifying the problem early meant that limited expenses were incurred and we offer deferrals to future LGRAW races in 2016 or 2017 (or refunds, if they preferred). Thank you to the officers and directors of the board for all they have accomplished. Also, thank you to all who have joined the various committees. The board also made the decision to leave the director position vacated by Kathryn Gleghorn open until our next board election in July. We are grateful to have had three people express an interest in the position, and we look forward to having more people involved in the governance of the club. As always, club members are welcome to attend our board meetings, and guests are typically encouraged to contribute their opinions during meetings. You may notice that the Footprint is in a slightly different format as we have shifted to a mobilefriendly format. This should not affect desktop users adversely. Please let us know what you think by emailing pr@lgraw.com. Also, please welcome Anne Barnwell to the Footprint team this month. She is taking care of layout duties, starting with this issue. Thank you, Anne! We've been talking a lot about the upcoming RRCA Convention in Dallas. We have a great opportunity for more members to attend without the necessity of air travel. The club will reimburse up to nine LGRAW members to attend the convention or become an RRCAcertified coach. Convention attendees can learn about a variety of topics related to running clubs and races. If you'd like to get more involved with the club, don't miss it. See details below about how to apply for full or partial reimbursement for the convention or coaching program. The application deadline is January 15. Chris Morris, LGRAW President Please note that your LGRAW membership expires on LGRAW
Scholarship Available for RRCA Convention: Due January 15 As a commitment to our club and the development of current and future board members, race directors and our Couch to 5K program, the board of directors has agreed to grant nine convention scholarships in total. Five full scholarships are available to the convention and four partial scholarships are available to the coaching certification cohort. The RRCA National Convention will be held March 17 19 in Dallas. https://ui.constantcontact.com/visualeditor/visual_editor_preview.jsp?agent.uid=1123253437790&format=html&print=true
