Having an Ursuline education has prepared me for college in unimaginable ways. I have learned time management, conflict resolution skills, how to manage my finances, and much more. The mission and heritage of Ursuline Academy took root centuries ago when Saint Angela Merici, a woman ahead of her time, founded the Order of St. Ursula, a company of young women committed to using their God-given gifts in service to the communities in which they live.

HOURS OF SERVICE COMPLETED LAST YEAR Faith formation in the Catholic tradition is at the core of the girls’ experience at Ursuline Academy. In addition to required coursework in theology and world religions, your daily life at Ursuline will include school-wide celebrations of the Eucharist, prayer at the beginning and end of each day, class retreats and community service.

Ursuline Academy respects all faith traditions in the classroom and welcomes students from all faiths.

The motto of Ursuline schools around the world is Serviam, Latin for “I Will Serve”. At Ursuline, you will complete 120 hours of service over the course of your four years, though many do much more. You will complete sixty of those service hours during your Junior Service Project at the end of your third year.

Through their ongoing service to the school and their communities, Ursuline alumnae show us that Serviam during high school becomes a commitment to a life of service to others, locally and worldwide. This guiding motto unites all women of Ursuline as servant leaders today, tomorrow and beyond.

Two of the Ursuline core values are development of the whole person and respect for the uniqueness of the individual. To that end, the Academy strives to provide clubs and organizations that offer a balance of academics, spiritual formation, leadership and fun!

Ursuline offers a wide variety of student organizations and clubs that reflect the unique interests and talents of each student. And if we don’t have it, you can start it! For students with a desire to develop their artistic side, Ursuline offers many opportunities from the classroom to the stage to the studio.

In addition to the Christmas and spring choral/instrumental concerts and dance recitals, Ursuline produces a fall play and spring musical with many student positions on stage as well as behind the scenes. Student artwork is also on display in O’Hara Hall throughout the year with a formal art show held in April.

There is an activity for just about every interest, and lots of opportunities to make new friends and practice leadership skills. Join a sports team, perform in a play, design the musical set; the possibilities are endless!

Athletics at Ursuline Academy are designed for every student to achieve an understanding of physical health and experience the joy of a life that balances academic pursuits and other interests.

Ursuline Academy is committed to educating students for Christian living and leadership in a global society. This takes place through our curriculum, the Global Scholars program, active service, co-curricular programs, and other global partnerships.

At all grade levels, you will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of experiences, which help you to grow in global competence. As you get to know the traditions and values of other cultures, you will gain new appreciation for different perspectives and a better understanding of what it means to be a global citizen.

Global Scholars Program The Global Scholars distinction validates a student’s intentional pursuit of a global education and recognizes students who demonstrate a strong interest in global citizenship. You will successfully complete coursework with a global focus, engage in co-curricular experiences that foster the development of global competencies, service, research of a global issue, and a capstone presentation in which your findings of research are shared.

The global scholar graduates demonstrate intellectual achievement, a commitment to service, passion for international issues, and a desire to be involved in global change.

The House System “Build community wherever you go.”

-St. Angela Merici The house system is grounded in our core value of developing a nurturing community spirit. You will be welcomed into one of four houses and have a sense of belonging from the start of your time at Ursuline.

Students become part of a Home, which is comprised of students from all four grade levels and a faculty member. Each student is a member of the same Home for all four years.

Homes also serve as a pairing place for our Big Sis/Lil Sis program, connecting incoming students with current sophomores who help each Lil Sis to feel welcomed and get adjusted to high school. The mentoring and community building aspects of these programs form the foundation for new friendships and the creation of a sisterhood that lasts a lifetime.

Our house names are the Italian names for our four core Ursuline values that we say each day in our Ursuline prayer.

I believed Ursuline was home from the second I stepped into the front doors.

Everyone was super welcoming and outgoing. Also, the teachers seemed to be very optimistic about their students and if they needed any help they were right there beside them helping them every step of the way.

MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS Merit scholarships recognize students with strong academic credentials and are awarded based on performance on standardized tests in either 7th or 8th grade. These awards are automatically applied to any incoming student who meets all criteria and is renewable for all four years based on her academic performance.

DISCOVER THE IMPACT I think Ursuline gave me a lot of opportunities to find myself and what my passions are. I tried playing different sports. I decided to play an instrument. I took dance classes. And I started a coffee shop. Ursuline not only gave me these opportunities to try new things but provided a safe environment to learn and grow.

I really stepped out of my comfort zone to try new things. Through these opportunities, I learned so much about my strengths and weaknesses. But, the most important thing I learned was to challenge myself.
