Having an Ursuline education has prepared me for college in unimaginable ways. I have learned time management, conflict resolution skills, how to manage my finances, and much more. Ursuline Academy has designed an academic program that challenges our students to grow as individuals and share their unique gifts and talents. Trying new things, taking risks and applying the knowledge gained prepares them to achieve their goals in college, career and life. Faculty and staff are committed to seeing each girl succeed. Activity periods give students the time for individualized learning with teachers or collaborative projects with their classmates. Classrooms offer mixed seating to accommodate various learning styles. Students are paired with a counselor for all four years, during which they work together to choose courses and activities that will allow them to reach their potential. The mission and heritage of Ursuline Academy took root centuries ago when Saint Angela Merici, a woman ahead of her time, founded the Order of St. Ursula, a company of young women committed to using their God-given gifts in service to the communities in which they live.

Faith formation in the Catholic tradition is at the core of the girls’ experience at Ursuline Academy. In addition to required coursework in theology and world religions, the daily life of the school includes school-wide celebrations of the Eucharist, prayer at the beginning and end of each day, class retreats and community service. Ursuline Academy respects all faith traditions in the classroom and welcomes students from all faiths. The motto of Ursuline schools around the world is Serviam, Latin for “I Will Serve”. At Ursuline, students complete 120 hours of service during their four years, though many do much more. Sixty of those service hours are completed during a Junior Service Project at the end of the school year. Through their ongoing service to the school and their communities, Ursuline alumnae show us that Serviam during high school becomes a commitment to a life of service to others, locally and worldwide. This guiding motto unites all women of Ursuline as servant leaders today, tomorrow and beyond.

getting involved
Two of the Ursuline core values are development of the whole person and respect for the uniqueness of the individual. To that end, the Academy strives to provide clubs and organizations that offer a balance of academics, spiritual formation, leadership and fun! Ursuline offers a wide variety of student organizations and clubs that reflect the unique interests and talents of each student. And if we don’t have it, you can start it! For students with a desire to develop their artistic side, Ursuline offers many opportunities from the classroom to the stage to the studio. In addition to the Christmas and spring choral/instrumental concerts and dance recitals, Ursuline produces a fall play and spring musical with many student positions on stage as well as behind the scenes. Student artwork is also on display in O’Hara Hall throughout the year with a formal art show held in April. There is an activity for just about every interest, and lots of opportunities to make new friends and practice leadership skills. Join a sports team, perform in a play, design the musical set; the possibilities are endless!

Athletics at Ursuline Academy are designed for every student to achieve an understanding of physical health and experience the joy of a life that balances academic pursuits and other interests. For the competitive athlete, our program emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship and the persistence needed to succeed on the field. We offer 14 sports, every sport available to female players in the state of Missouri, and we are members of the Metro Women’s Athletic Association (MWAA).

This affiliation creates numerous opportunities for our students to prepare for their future as true global citizens through academics, cultural exchanges, exposure to companies operating on an international scale and service in organizations addressing worldwide issues such as poverty and women’s rights. Global Scholars Program Our Global Scholars program offers a unique opportunity for students to develop a perspective of the world beyond St. Louis. Global Scholars complete a rigorous curriculum emphasizing the languages and an independent study of international media and literature, demonstrate leadership in school activities related to global citizenship and complete a cross-cultural service project. During their senior year, Global Scholars present a capstone project that demonstrates growth in understanding their place in a global society.
