FROM MY SISTERS LIPS - REVIEW BY ALEESA KHAN From My Sisters' Lips by Na'ima B. Robert offers a rare glimpse into the lives of a community of women, most of whom are converts to Islam, and invites you to share their joys, sorrows, convictions and faith.

As Na'ima recounts the compelling story of her conversion to Islam, she also offers first-hand accounts of just some of the extraordinary women she has come to know in recent years - women like herself who have chosen to live as Muslims.

As I delved further into this book, it really surprised me to know just how much I can understand and relate to the protagonist, even in the smallest of ways. The uncertainties she faced when she moved My favourite part of this book is when she to London and how she would grow as a mentions that this whole journey of woman. This also included the transition of becoming a Muslim sparked when she moving away from Zimbabwe to such a made a trip to Egypt. Meeting women who diverse and enormous country. looked as if they were forced to wrap themselves tightly in all sorts of fabrics. But with every decision she made, she had As this incredible book progresses, Naima immense faith in God. This is something openly and heartfully shares her journey that inspires me so much to become towards Islam by painting a beautiful confident and step out of my comfort zone picture of this woman who is seldom heard with grace and full commitment. and shares her experience which many other women may not be confident to share themselves. Naima becomes the lead voice throughout this book.

As bleak as recent years have been, there are many places in the world fighting for change to make the planet as habitable as it used to be. The fight against climate change has been a worldwide struggle since the 1970s, when the importance of preserving the environment became paramount. Since then, progress and reception towards the preservation of the planet have been mixed, and heavy misinformation has circulated constantly in the media, causing panic, commotion, and intense feelings of helplessness. Many people feel as though they are failing their own planet. Because of this, I have decided to make it my journey to remind many that we are still very on track for this journey to create a sustainable society for all. Simply put, people deserve to hear about the good news happening for the environment all over the planet, so here are the top stories from 2023 about the new developments in environmental sustainability.

THE_BUBBLE_VEIL:_SAVING_THE_OCEAN ON_PORPOISE For years, aquatic species have been under threat due to human interference—even if said interference is made to eliminate anthropogenic (human created) pollution. Wind turbine farms are common along coastlines due to their lack of proximity to people. This has however created an unfortunate situation due to the noise pollution they create being picked up by aquatic animals who rely on sonar signaling such as the porpoise. To solve this, the bubble veil has been created in Germany to surround offshore wind farms. The odd invention is a pitted hose that is laid on the seabed, encapsulating all the sound wind turbines make underwater. Air is pumped through the encircling material causing air bubbles to float to the surface at a constant rate, surrounding the turbines in an airtight seal. This design is currently being utilised in the North and Baltic Sea where the fewest number of porpoise species are found. Due to the endangered status of the porpoise, these bubble veils were a matter of urgency, designed to fit the species' traits and needs so as not to further disturb their populations.

ART SHOWCASE

Fanart inspired by the web-novel manga, Return of the Mount Hua Sect by Biga. The character fading belongs to the light while the one holding on belongs to the darkness, a sword to be used for the good of his home.

ART SHOWCASE

Acrylic paint on paper. This piece depicts Margot’s dad. She intended the piece to represent that familiar feeling of belonging in the warmth of your bed, showing a moment where you can be completely vulnerable
