PSA Posters

This is an opportunity for students to work with their peers and spread a message about something they are passionate about. Students are to pick a Public Service Announcement and write out a brief for a peer to execute. But, only text is allowed so that we can continue learning how to manipulate text.

When we were first given this assignment I was so excited to complete it, until I found out that I didn’t get to do my own. I didn’t mind doing a partner’s proposal, but I had so many ideas for my own poster that I was nervous I wouldn’t be able to execute my partner’s idea the way they were hoping.

My partner wanted to spread awareness about how dangerous drunk driving is, but didn’t exactly know how to go about it in the right way. Together we looked at the website she provided and decided on a fact that we thought would leave the most impact on people walking by.

This project was hard to execute with only words because images are very eye-catching and help to explain the purpose of the topic being presented. People are usually more drawn to images and so it was hard to brainstorm ideas on how to make my poster interesting enough to get people to stop at it.

This project helped me to learn more about the importance of scale and how making some text larger or smaller can add to its value. I used scale to help highlight the main ideas of my topic. I made the amount of deaths larger to really have that stand out to draw the audience in. I also put the hashtag within a box so that it would stand out since it was the catchphrase my client wanted used.

These are some of the ideas my client and I came up with.
