A Letter from the President
HappySpring Lexington Catholic Families, Alumni, Faculty, Staff, and Friends. As the longer spring days creates an atmosphere of renewal and optimism around our campus, we are reminded of how blessed we are to be a part of the Lexington Catholic family. This even became more apparent this year with the passing of beloved student Eli Sloan, and the way our LC Community surrounding the Sloan Family with love and support. This is ultimately the most important attribute of our community—family.
In Advancement and Enrollment, we are working on our 2026-27 class with enrollment now open, and we are excited to be able to offer additional tuition assistance to fully verified under-served families who wish to provide a Catholic education for their children. If you know parents who are still considering Lexington Catholic who may be worried about the tuition, please let them know that we have numerous opportunities now for additional scholarship and tuition assistance through the Fr. Norman Fund and others.
We are excited about some new facilities additions to the campus this spring. Through the generosity of a major donation by Bill and Donna Shively, we are now playing spring night games under new LED lights on the main field, fully supported by color flashing light shows when goals are scored in lacrosse or homeruns are hit in softball. We are also excited about the dedication and blessing ceremony of the new Ave Maria Grotto in Honor of Fr. Norman Fischer Jr. on April 21 with Bishop John Stowe presiding. This project has been made possible through a generous donation from the Edward & Priscilla Fallon Family and Steve and Cindy Stewart, and many other donors who

purchased bricks or arrays as part of the grotto patio. This new sacred space would be used by our students, families, and the community and will serve as constant reminder of our faith and our ministry within the Catholic Church. Another new event that features the grotto, is our new Knight of Gratitude on Sunday, May 3, the first event of the graduation season, where senior students and their parents will enjoy a reception, a special time where students will read letters of thanks and love to their parents, and culminates with a final procession to the grotto, for reflection and prayers.

Finally, a new 75th Jubilee Committee has been hard at work , led by the Alumni Council featured in this publication, to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the merger of St. Catherine Academy and Lexington Latin High in 1951. The first event of the 75th Jubilee Series was MidKnight Stakes in February, and many other events will take place throughout 2026 calendar year. This includes a wonderful Alumni Weekend October 13, 14, 15, with the new Knight of Excellence dinner kicking off the weekend on Thursday evening in Alumni Gym. This new event will honor past alumni and teachers from the previous eight decades of Lexington Catholic. Alumni Awards will be named for Fr. Norman Fischer (male) and St. Catherine (female) and faculty awards will be named for long-time principal Sally Stevens. There is more information in this publication if you would like to nominate.
May God bless our faculty, staff, and administration as we lead our school through the spring semester to graduation. And may God bless you, your families, and Lexington Catholic High School.

It is both an honor and a privilege to work with the members of the Lexington Catholic Alumni Council. This outstanding group of alumni is deeply committed to supporting the mission of Lexington Catholic High School, and it is truly a joy to partner with them as we continue to work on strengthening our alumni community. The Alumni Council serves as a valuable sounding board for ideas and initiatives that benefit our school and our graduates. Members help plan and promote alumni gatherings, assist with school fundraising events and celebrations, and work to keep our alumni connected to Lexington Catholic and to one another. They also serve as the selection committee that selects our Lexington Catholic Hall of Fame inductees every three years. The council was formed under President David Hardin, and its original By-Laws were created and adopted on July 25, 2005. The By-Laws were reviewed, updated, and adopted on August 14, 2020. Since its founding, we have been blessed by the dedication of many alumni who have served on the council. Some have completed their time of service but continue to stay connected, support our efforts, and take pride in the work of the council. Others have been on the council from the beginning. The Alumni Council is truly a special group made up of amazing Knights who generously give their time, ideas, efforts, talents, and support to Lexington Catholic. We are deeply grateful for their continued commitment to our school community and truly blessed to have it and them. For the first time, the final Student versus Student championship game will be played just before the main event. The winning student team earns the right to advance and face the Alumni and Faculty team in the ultimate matchup of the day. This new format raises the stakes, heightens the excitement, and ensures that by the time the final game tips off, the entire school community is fully engaged.
UKNIGHT DAY 2026

WHERE GIVING MEETS THE GAME
What makes uKnight Day truly unique is how philanthropy and participation come together. Every donation directly impacts the scoreboard. For every $500 raised, a team earns 6 points toward the game, meaning supporters do not just cheer from the sidelines. They actively influence the outcome. Giving is open now, and donations will be accepted until 11:59 PM on April 21. Your gift could change the outcome of the game. All games will be live streamed via the Lexington Catholic Facebook page, allowing our entire community to be part of the excitement no matter where they are. Be sure to tune in to enjoy our student commentators, cheerleaders, dancers, band, referees, and so many others who help bring this incredible event to life.

THE STORIES OF LEXINGTON CATHOLIC

As we prepared to celebrate Lexington Catholic’s 75th Anniversary, we partnered with Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI) to help gather updated contact information and collect alumni memories from across our community. Through this partnership, we began receiving stories that reflect the lasting impact of Lexington Catholic. Here are a few that have been shared so far.

I loved my time at Lexington Catholic High School as a member of the Class of 1960. My class was the first Freshman Class to attend LCH at its present location. We started our freshman year in 1956 at the old location on North Lime. Going to the new school was delayed until the Spring of 1957 because someone set off a time bomb in the new school thereby destroying a portion of it. Being a student at LCH is a source of pride for me, and I treasure the many special memories of my time there. The priests and nuns who taught us were incredibly dedicated, and I always felt safe and valued within the school community. Additionally, the friendships made there are special and have lasted a lifetime. As a student, I was a member of several clubs--the Glee Club, Home Ec Club, Library Club, the school newspaper, and National Honor Society. Additionally, I was a cheerleader one year and was elected to the senior prom court. Being part of all these activities allowed me to make close connections with my classmates. We had fun doing the work, but we also enjoyed each other’s company. Even after graduating, many of us have stayed in touch and get together about once a month for dinner. It is a blessing to have these lifelong friendships, some of which began in First Grade at St. Peter ’s. While I don’t recall any specific memorable moments from my school days, I can say that I truly looked forward to going to Lexington Catholic every day. The priests and nuns who taught us prepared us so well, both academically and spiritually, for what came after graduation. I am grateful for the formative experience of attending LCH and for the lasting impact it has had on my life.
Mrs. Marcia L. Reed Sipe ‘60

When I think back to my time at Lexington Catholic High School, one particular story stands out above all others. I had the privilege of having the same teacher, Sally Stevens, for my entire math education - from Algebra 1 all the way through Calculus. Sally was an incredible mentor who truly believed in me and my abilities. At a time when many young women struggled with confidence in math, Sally instilled in me the belief that I could excel in this subject. She made me feel smart and capable, empowering me to pursue my passion. Thanks to Sally’s guidance, I immediately chose to major in accounting when I went to college at Eastern Kentucky University. That decision set me on a path towards becoming a CPA and enjoying a wonderful 34-year career, including roles as a US Controller and CFO at Lexmark. I truly credit Sally Stevens as the catalyst for my success. Her unwavering support and faith in me during my time at Lexington Catholic laid the foundation for everything I would go on to achieve. That’s why I’ve shared this story time and time again - it’s a testament to the profound impact a dedicated teacher can have on a student’s life. While I didn’t maintain as close of connections with my high school friends compared to college, my time at Lexington Catholic was formative. And now, I’m proud to have supported the school’s recent capital campaign, helping to create the Isbell Center for Inclusion and Belonging. It’s my way of giving back to a place that played such a pivotal role in shaping who I am today.
Ms. Jeri L. Isbell, CPA ‘75

Attending Lexington Catholic was a formative experience for me. Being there with friends and peers was the best part. We had grown up together, and that camaraderie really defined my time at the school. My favorite class was US History with Mr Gilmore. He made the material engaging and memorable. Danny Haney’s health class was great as well. I’ll admit, I was a rather distracted student. My teachers would likely agree that I struggled to stay focused at times. I most enjoyed being involved in extracurriculars - I did speech and drama, was on the swim team, and played soccer. Those activities really enhanced my overall school experience. The highlight was definitely graduation day. The ceremony at Christ the King was wonderful, but the real fun came afterwards. One of our teachers hosted a party at her farm, where we all camped out and celebrated late into the night. It was a perfect ending to my time at Lexington Catholic. That experience laid the groundwork for the rest of my life. After a long career in business, I eventually became a firefighter paramedic - a job I absolutely love. I sometimes regret not joining the military when I was younger, but Lexington Catholic set me on a great path nonetheless. I’m grateful for the fond memories and lasting impact of my time there.

As a student at Lexington Catholic High School, I was incredibly active and involved during my time there. Looking back, it was a truly formative experience that set me up for success. During my sophomore year, I ran track and was very involved with the school’s choir programs, participating in both chamber and music groups all four years. I was also active in student council, serving as vice president of the student body my senior year. The service club was another area I was deeply committed to, acting as vice president in my final year. Academically, I was honored to be the first person in Lexington Catholic history admitted to both the Governor’s Scholars program and the Governor’s School for the Arts. This was an amazing accomplishment that I’m still proud of to this day. Perhaps the most meaningful part of my Lexington Catholic experience, though, was my close relationship with Father Norman. He was a paternal figure who guided me not only during my time at the school, but even after I graduated in 2016. I was heavily involved with the youth group he led, and his influence and mentorship played a crucial role in shaping who I am. Balancing my demanding academic schedule with so many extracurricular activities taught me invaluable lessons about discipline, time management, and work ethic. Lexington Catholic truly served as a launching pad, preparing me for my future educational pursuits at USC, Harvard, and the University of Chicago, where I recently completed a master’s degree. While I have many fond memories, two school traditions stand out - the annual ‘House Cup’ competition between the school’s houses, and the elaborate Halloween celebrations, which were always a highlight. However, it was my relationship with Father Norman that was the greatest gift Lexington Catholic gave me. His example of kindness, faith, and integrity has continued to ground and guide me long after graduation. Mr. Manda Bwerevu ‘16
