Alexander, with whom she was blessed to share more than 34 years of marriage before his passing on March 20, 2000. Surviving are her sons, Jeffrey D. Alexander and his wife, Kathleen of Mif flintown, Nathan R. Alex ander and his wife, Eleanor of Key West, Florida; sib lings Miriam Wirt and her husband, Dan of Lancaster, Earl “Salty” Shank and his wife, Bonnie of McAlister ville, two grandchildren, Stephanie Brubaker and her husband, Curtis and Kyle Alexander; four great grandchildren, Morgan Foltz, Macy Wagner, Des tiny Alexander, and Ava Jean Brubaker. In addition to her par ents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bethany L. Alexander and eight broth ers Clement Shank, Ches ter Shank, Cecil Shank, Wilmer Shank, C. Wayne Shank, Jacob “Pete” Shank, Lloyd Shank, and EarnestBeforeShank.her marriage, she served as a nurse, after which she was employed as a waitress at Zimmies Diner and later she was a waitress at Stop 35, both of Mifflintown. She also was a practicing Reflexologist. Mrs. Shank was a mem ber of Kingdom Hall Je hovah’s Witnesses, who loved crocheting, working in her garden, attending yard sales, bird watch ing, cooking, baking and spending time with her family; however, the real joy that she got was the love of babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren.Serviceswere Monday, July 18, 2022 at the Fayette Fire Company, Social Hall, McAlisterville. EdwardCharlesBailey Charles Edward Bailey, 85, of Lewistown, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hos pital.Born May 7, 1937, in Bea vertown, he was the son of the late Clyde Eugene and Helen (Kratzer) Bailey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; a daughter, Virginia Lee Watt.He is survived by; his wife, Bernice A. (Fagan) Bailey, of Lewistown; a granddaugh ter, Britney Baumgardner and husband, Willie, of Lew istown; and a great-grand son, Colton Baumgardner; son-in-law, Darrell Watt; a sister-in-law, Anna L. (Fa gan) Shirey and husband, Charles, of McClure; and several loving nieces and nephews.Charles was a member of the Gospel Hall in Lew istown. He was a life mem ber of City Hook and Ladder, Moose, American Legion, and VFW Post 7011. Earlier in life, he was a social mem ber of Fame, Brooklyn, and Junction.Earlier in life, he worked as a dairy farmer. Thomas A. ‘Tom’ Cargill Thomas A. “Tom” Car gill, 77, Mifflin, passed away at 6:45 a.m. on Sat urday, July 16, 2022, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hos pital.Born on Aug. 16, 1944, in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island, he was a son of the late David and Dorothy (Boyce) Car gill.Surviving are his wife, Lucille M. (Gagnon) Car gill; siblings Carol Irons of Annandale, Virginia, Ed Cargill and his wife, Carol of Wyoming, David Cargill Jr. of Cumberland, Rhode Island, and he is survived by nieces and nephews. In addition to his par ents, he was preceded in death by a sister Janice. Mr. Cargill was a proud U.S. Army veteran who honorably served his coun try during the Vietnam War. With 33 years of service, he retired as a lineman for Black Stone Valley Elec tric Company of Cumber land, Rhode Island. He was a 1962 gradu ate of Cumberland High School, Cumberland, Rhode Island, who loved sprint car racing and rac ing in general, riding mo torcycles and fishing. There will be no view ing; however, a memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 9 a.m. at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, 3918 William Penn High way, Mifflintown, Father Peter Rettig officiating. In terment was to be held in Rhode Island, where full Military Burial Honors will be accorded. James R. Coulter‘Jim’ James R. “Jim” Coulter, 73, a resident of the Ore gon Veterans Home in The Dalles, Ore., peacefully passed away on July 11, 2022, surrounded by his two loving daughters. Jim was born on Dec. 12, 1948, in Lewistown, the son of the late Ann B. Coulter (Gladys Bonson) and Robert H. Coulter. Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Cheryl “Sissy” Coulter (Angney); brothers Wil liam N. Coulter and John H. HeCoulter.issurvived by his daughters, Melissa A. Coulter (partner Daniel J. Moist) of Portland, Ore. and Kimberly J. Coulter Searer (husband Matthew F. Searer) of West Linn, Ore., sister Linda A. Shotsberger (husband Da vid) of The Villages, Fla., and his beloved grand dog,JimZeus.grew up in Reeds ville and graduated Kishacoquillas High School in 1966. He attend ed Williamsport Area Community College and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Drafting. Jim was drafted and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1969. He served as Spec 5 Crew Chief of a UH-1H helicopter during Vietnam. He was awarded two medals of honor for courage and bravery, one for when his helicopter was shot down during a mission. After military service, he settled back in Lew istown to marry and raise his family, eventually working as a service tech for Agway and tending bar at “The Grill” (Riverview Inn aka Waterfront). He enjoyed camping trips, boating at Raystown with family and friends, trips to hunting camp, word search books, soli taire, bird watching and trains.He attended the Old Fashioned Baptist Church in Ferguson Valley. During his youth as a Boy Scout, he earned Life Scout status, one pull-up shy of Eagle Scout. (Lane) Bard, she was united in marriage to Edward L. Craig in Anna’s1945.parents, her hus band, brother H. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Newton Hamilton and the PA State DuringGrange.herlifetime as a devoted wife, mother, grand mother and great- grand mother. Anna was also known as a wonderful cook and baker for her family. Her favorite pastime was completing beautiful needle work projects of crocheting, embroidery, and cross-stitch ing. Anna was an outstand ing Christian lady who ex emplified the finest virtues of American Life. She was most respected by family members, friends, neighbors and acquaintances. Cavanaugh, 84, of Lewistown, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at William PennBornHealthcare.Dec.27,1937, in Lew istown, she was a daughter of the late Charles P. and Ruth C. (Heinley) McMullen Sr. Her husband, Marvin A. Cavanaugh Sr., whom she married Sept. 20, 1956, pre ceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1983.She was also preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters.Surviving are: six chil dren, Marvin A. Cavana ugh Jr. and wife Nina of McVeytown, Douglas B. Cavanaugh and wife Julie of McVeytown, Sonja K. Miller and husband Jeffrey, Bradley A. Cavanaugh, Hei di J. Picketts and husband Bill, Jennifer J. Kenepp and husband Chad, all of Lew istown; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was formerly em ployed as a nurse’s aide at Ohesson Manor, as well as a home health aide, and as a waitress at Wanda’s Diner in Strodes Mills. Betty was a member of Centre Union Church and attended Pine Glen Alliance Church. She also volun teered as an attendant with the McVeytown Ambulance Association.Afuneral service was held on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Pine Glen Al liance Church, 1058 State Route 103 North, Lew istown, with Pastors Daniel Stegeman and Donald Weid man officiating. JosephElliottIrvin Joseph Irvin Elliott, 78, of Lewistown, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus at 11:45 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Greenwood Center, Lew istown.Born April 8, 1944, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Sarah B. (Cuff) Elliott. In addition to his par ents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, James, Stephen and David Leroy Elliottt, and a sister, Barbara Ste venson.Joeis survived by: broth ers, Carl Elliott, of Mar ietta, and Frank “Gary” Elliott and wife, Rocky, of Harrisburg; a sister, Sarah Lewis, of Mifflintown; and many nephews and nieces. He was a graduate of Lewistown High School, Class of 1963. He was a U.S. Army Mil itary Policeman assigned to Arlington Hall Station, Arlington, Va., from Sept. 1964 to Sept. 1968 during the Vietnam Era, achiev ing the rank of Sergeant. He retired from Stan dard Steel Corp. as a mill operator with 33 years of service.Joewas a founding, life long and cherished mem ber of Bethel African Meth odist Episcopal (AME) Church in Lewistown. In his earlier years, he main tained and supported the upkeep of the African American Memorial Cem etery located across the street from the church. His love for his Lord and Sav ior was ever apparent and he will be fondly remem bered for his quiet demean or and unwavering faith in any situation. Joe loved his family and his church family and could always be counted on to provide as sistance whenever needed. Kathryn L. “Kitty” Da vis, 96, formerly of Mif flintown (Arch Rock), died July 19, 2022 at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. She had most recently made her home at North Ridge Center, McAlisterville. Born Aug. 2, 1925 in Arch Rock, Juniata Coun ty, she was the daughter of the late J. Calvin and Eva (Warner) Gray. On April 16, 1948, she married Raymond W. Da vis, who preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 1989 after 41 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Darlene Davis, and a son, Raymond L. “Raymie” Da vis, as well as one brother, Samuel Gray. She is survived by four children, Diane L. Graff and husband Duane of Port Royal, George G. Davis of Mifflintown, Earl G. Davis and wife Cindy of Oakland Mills and Polly S. Digon and husband Rob of Mif flintown; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchil dren. Kitty was a 1943 gradu ate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown. Ear lier in life she worked as an operator for the United Telephone Company. She and her husband later owned and operated Davis Lawn and Garden Equip ment for several years. She was an active mem ber of her community, giving of her time and immeasurable talents to friends, relatives and service organizations in many capacities, from Cub Scout den mother to hospice driver, and as a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Mifflintown. Her most meaningful time, howev er, was spent as a patient, imaginative and tireless mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.Afteralifetime of car ing for others, her family is comforted to know that Kitty has found the rest and peace that she so de served.AtKitty’s request, there will be no public services. Francis J. Evanitsky, 80, of Lewistown passed away on July 13, 2022 at Lewistown Hospital. Born, May 2, 1942, in Burnham, he was the son of the late Frank T. and Mary T. (Ol nick). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie. He is survived by his two sons, Gregory and wife Trisha of Milroy and Douglas and wife April of Enola. Two granddaugh ters Jennifer Marsh and husband James of Belle fonte, and Rebecca Evan itsky of Madison, WI and a sibling, Theresa Cutler and her husband Gary of Trox elville.Fran was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He was educat ed in the Mifflin County School District, Penn State University and received specialized training at Bucknell University and the Darden School of Busi ness University of Virgin ia. In 1964, Fran started his career in the financial service industry as man ager at Capital Consumer Discount Company of Lew istown. In 1967, he joined First National Bank of Lewistown as a loan offi cer. During his tenure with the bank, he assumed ad ditional roles and respon sibilities. In 1976, Central Counties Bank of Juniata County acquired First Na tional Bank. Working for Central Counties Bank, Fran was appointed Man ager of the Lewistown of fice and Assistant Regional Manager of the four offices in Mifflin County. Later, Mellon Bank of Pittsburgh acquired the Central Coun ties Bank of Juniata Coun ty. Fran then assumed the role of Regional Manager for Centre County and later, assumed additional regional responsibilities for Miff lin, Clinton, Lycoming and Union counties. In 1996, he joined Lewistown Trust Company as the Executive Vice President and became President/CEO in January 1998. In July 1998, Lew istown Trust Company and the Juniata Valley Bank of Mifflintown merged. Fran became President of the combined banks. In September 2000, he was appointed President/CEO of the Juniata Valley Bank where he worked until re tiring on July 1, 2010. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Junia ta Valley Bank until May 2014. During his banking career, he was heavily in volved in community ac tivities.Fran served on the fi nance committee and the Board for Mifflin County Industrial Development Corporation for 34 years. Andrew E. Fleischer, 35, of 2 Knollwood Drive, Lititz, passed away on Sat urday, July 2, 2022. He was born Jan. 17, 1987, in Lancaster, the son of Thomas Fleischer of Newry and Brenda Caru so of Las Vegas, Nev. On Sept. 29, 2012, he married Amanda (Miller) Fleischer who survives at their home. Along with his parents and wife, he is also sur vived by four children, Braxton, Bristol, Baylee, and Blair Fleischer all at home, a grandmother, Pau line Glick of Belleville, a brother, Jay Fleischer and wife Becky of Lititz, and a sister, Crystal Cooper of Las Vegas, as well as many special aunts, uncles, niec es and nephews. Gail M. Getz Gail M. Getz of Fayette Township entered into eternal rest on June 20, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Arch and Elena Mercey of Washington D.C. Her sister Marta Mercey of Washington D.C. preceded her in death as well. She was married to the late Donald E. Getz. Surviv ing is two step daughters Susan Costello of Flem ing Island, FL and Karen Burger of Centerville, OH and stepson John Getz of Beavertown, PA. There are 6 grandchildren. Gail was born in Washington D.C. in 1937. She attended Wood row Wilson High School and later graduated from McDaniel College in West minster, MD. She also at tended American Universi ty and the Corcoran School of Art. Gail came to Har risburg in 1971 and worked as a curator for the State Museum of Pennsylvania for many years. After retir ing in 1990, she continued to do consultant work and to write articles on the dec orative arts and costume for regional and national publications. Gail was a member of the Costume So ciety of America and longtime board member and enthusiastic supporter of the Fashion Archives and Museum of Shippensburg University. She belonged to the MidAtlantic Associ ation of Museums and the Pennsylvania Federation of Museums and Histor ical Organizations. She also enjoyed the friendship and fellowship of the Red Hats Society gatherings of McAlisterville. Gail was also a staunch champion of the Getz Barrel Business which Don and his son John operated. They trav eled to many black powder (18th century) rendezvous for both business and plea sure where many treasured friendships were made over the years. Her inter est in the natural world led Gail to be an avid support er of several environmen tal groups including the World Wildlife Fund, Cor nell Ornithological lab and the National Audubon So ciety. She was a member of the Towpath Naturalist So ciety and active participant of the Bluebird Society of Pennsylvania. This gave her great satisfaction and joy. Faye Kauffman, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior, and her beloved family on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Greenwood Village in BornLewistown.Dec. 3, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Emory and Emily (Lloyd) Somers. Her husband, Paul R. Kauffman Sr., whom she married Dec. 16, 1955, pre ceded her in death on June 14,Also2022. preceding her in death was a son, Paul R. Kauffman Jr., on Oct. 30, 2011; a son-in-law, Timo thy C. Weston on March 31, 2020; an uncle who was like a Dad to her, Charles “Salty” Somers; and six sib lings, Sarah Rupert, Shir ley Arnold, Emory “Jack” Somers, Evan Somers, Ron ald Summers, and Donald Summers.Surviving are a daughter, Brenda S. Weston of Lew istown; a daughter-in-law, Rochelle Kauffman of York; two sisters-in-law, Reinhil de Summers and Saundra Somers, both of New Jer sey; three grandchildren, Curtis C. Weston of Lew istown, Jacqueline F. Kauff man of York and Robert P. Kauffman of Lewistown; numerous nieces and neph ews; and a special family friend from childhood, Ruth Jones of Lewistown. After graduating in 1949 from Lewistown High School, she attended Ma ranatha Bible School (Uni versity of Valley Forge). When her mother passed she left school and returned home to help raise her youngest brothers, twins Ronald and Donald. Faye retired from Wat son’s Optical in December of 1993, and also served as a Bratton Township election worker.She was involved with the reading tutoring pro gram at the Mifflin County Library, and volunteered at the Nightingale Gift Shop at Geisinger- Lewistown Hos pital. She was also a regu lar blood donor and volun teered at the Red Cross for manyFayeyears.was a charter mem ber and deaconess of the Pine Glen Alliance Church, where she was very active in teaching Sunday school, Junior Church and Bible school.Her children and grand children meant the world to her. She volunteered in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Band Boosters, and youth events. Faye babysat all three of her grandchildren and at tended every event that they participated in. An excellent cook and baker, she also enjoyed reading, singing, flower gar dening, puzzles, word finds, walking and lunches with friends. Faye and her husband, Paul, enjoyed attending gos pel concerts with their life time friends, Ed and Etsy Felton.The family would like to thank the special care givers, Sandy, Ruth, Dixie, Jackie and Diane, who en abled Faye to live with her daughter and son- in-law for 4 1/2 years, as well as her caregivers at Greenwood Village.Services were Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Pine Glen Alliance Church with her nephew, Rev. Laura Susan “Susie” Imes, passed away on July 2, 2022 (her 83rd birthday) at her Thompsontown home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Blair Wilson Imes in May of 1996. Susie previously had lived in McAlister ville.Born July 2, 1939, in Saville Township, Perry County, she was a daugh ter of the late Harvey A. and Margaret Elizabeth (Fuller) Hoffman. Susie was a 1958 grad uate of Blain Union High School and still enjoyed attending her class re unions and keeping in contact with her close school friends and family members. While a high school student, she had lived with a local physi cian’s family and assist ed him in making house calls. After marriage, she worked for a time as a pa tient’s aide at Selinsgrove State Hospital and later as a nurse’s aide at Brookline Manor in Mifflintown. She loved her grand children and telling sto ries which could have a mischievous deviation at times. Susie had a heart of gold and had an accep tance and love for nearly everyone that would walk into her home. Raising five girls and being the caregiver for her husband who had Parkinson’s dis ease (for over a period of 20 years), she was a cham pion for those having trou bles in their own lives. Susie was quick witted, young in spirit and had a can-do attitude. Some of the things she enjoyed included cooking, visits, birdwatching, her house plants and taking drives with family members, Su sie deeply loved her fami ly. She will be missed. Surviving are five daughters, Ginger Stroup and her husband, Abe, of McAlisterville, Judy Troup and her husband, Donnie, of Thompson town, Blairene Sheaffer and her husband, Bradley, of Honey Grove, Ange la Naylor and her com panion, Jeff Schultz of Balaton, MN, and Tracy Dressler and her husband, Wayne, of Thompson town, 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchil dren. Also surviving is a brother, Robert Hoffman of Ickesburg and a sister, Rebecca Schlegel and her husband, John, of Thomp sontown.Shewas preceded in death by a sister, Helen McDonald and two broth ers James and John Hoff man. K Gary C. Kirk Gary C. Kirk, 74, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, at his home near Mif flintown.BornJune 5, 1948 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Clair and Helen (Whitebread) Kirk. He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Swartz, and husband, Nate, of Port Royal, three grand children, Jensen Swartz and fiancÈ, Kyle Hart, Marley Swartz, and Brock Swartz, two sisters, Norma Leach and Audrey Hun ker, both of Mifflintown, one brother, Bruce Kirk and wife, Roma, of Port Royal, and he was dear ly loved by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.Inaddition to his par ents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Don ald Kirk, two sisters, Betty Love and Marlene Rowles, and a stillborn sister, Lana KayGaryKirk.graduated from Juniata Joint High School. He was a veteran of the 1st Infantry Division in the United States Army from June 19, 1968 to Jan. 21 ,1970. He served in Viet nam and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Cam paign Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Service Med al, the Air Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.Hewas a retired self-em ployed painter. He was a member of the Mifflintown Ameri can Legion and VFW, the Lewistown Moose, and the Cross Keys Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending lo cal carnivals and fairs, hanging out at Casner’s Garage, spending Satur day night at Port Royal Speedway and watching his grandson race. He was always helping his neigh bors. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and taking them out to eat for special occasions.Services were Saturday, July 23 at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown. Interment was in East Waterford Cemetery where the Junia ta County Veterans Coun cil accorded full military honors. Ohio St., passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Geisinger Hospital in Lewistown.BornonMarch 28, 1930 in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and May (Sellers) El sesser. She was married to Donald “Pete” Kline, who preceded her in death on April 15, Shirley2013.was a gradu ate of Yeagertown High School where she was a cheerleader and the high scorer on a championship basketball team. She was very proud of earning her single engine pilot license and enjoyed flying with Pete. She also liked painting, crafting, baking Christmas cookies, and knitting mittens for many children over the years. Above all she loved her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.Survivingare one son and daughter in law, Don ald S. and Susan Kline of Harrisburg; two daughters and one son in law, Mona Fern of Palmyra and Nan cy and David Restifo of Southport, NC; five grand children, Krista Fisher, Donald Scott Kline Jr., Na talie Fern, Nicholas Res tifo and Stephanie Boice; and four great grandchil dren, Sabrina Forsythe, Brenton Kline, Cleo Kline, and Emily Boice. Later in life, he, along with his wife and family, spent many years setting up at local flea markets and fairs, where they met many lifelong friends along the way. He took great pride in his family and was the host of huge reunions that created many lasting family memories for all. George had a great bond with the Amish com munity. He will always be remembered for his butchering technique, which has been passed down to his children and grandchildren and was the master of scrapple making. His passion will live on for many years to come.Above all, he loved his family and friends and instilled good values in his children and grand children that have served them well. He will be dearly missed and held forever in our hearts.

James L. Knepp, 74, passed from this life into the arms of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. James was born on Aug. 1, 1947, to the late Lester C. Knepp and Mar garet (Yetter) Knepp. On Sept. 20, 1969 he mar ried his sweetheart Salin da (Gardner) Knepp. At the time of his passing they had been married 52 years. James was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Army. He worked at the Beavertown Weaving Mill for 33 years until it closed. He enjoyed working on his family farm and going to horse sales “just too look” as he would say. Surviving in addi tion to his wife Salinda (Gardner) Knepp are his three daughters and sons in law, Mary and Mark Fisher of Belltown, Sha ron and Scott Sizer of McClure and Jennifer and Daniel Hackenberg of Beaver Springs; eight grandchildren, Jonathan Fisher and fiancee Lacre sia Moyer, Shane Fisher, Evin Sizer and husband Marcus McClellan, Na thaniel and Colin Sizer, Mackenzie Hackenberg and partner Taylor Re ich, Maddison and Maya Hackenberg; two great grandkids Lorelie and Benson Fisher; and sur viving cousins. Larry served proudly and courageously in the U.S. Army from May 1948 to May 1951 during the Korean Conflict. Assigned to G Company of the 38th Infantry Division, he was wounded in action in 1950 and awarded the Purple Heart.Following his time in the Army, Larry began a career at Standard Steel Corp. where he would serve as a maintenance su pervisor. He retired after 40 years of service. Larry was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was also an active member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Lewistown Lodge No. 203 for more than 50 years and the Penn Highlands High School Band Boosters. Larry lived a full life and enjoyed many things in cluding Penn State sports, building and shooting muzzleloaders, hunting, fishing, attending primi tive rendezvous, camping with his family and having breakfast with his buddies. Most of all, Larry loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and an amazing grandfather and great-grandfather. Larry made spending time with his grandchildren a prior ity, taking them to Penn State games, teaching them about hunting, fishing and history, vacationing togeth er and supporting each and every one of their activi ties and accomplishments. Carolyn started her career as a teacher at Wrightsville Elementary and after moving to Bel leville in 1980 she taught at Huntington County School District and Belleville Mennonite School. After retirement, she worked at Sharp Shopper in Bel leville. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belleville, the Mifflin County Historical Society, a Penn State fan, an avid golfer and enjoyed watching golf on TV when she couldn’t play. A celebration of life will be held at St. John’s Lu theran Church located at 3597 Main St., Belleville, PA 17004, on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, with the Rev. Ela J. Robertson officiat ing. There will be visita tion beginning at 11 a.m., a service at noon, and light food and refreshments fol lowing the service where all are welcomed to join and share their fondest memories of Carolyn. Doug could also be found spending time with family, going on cruises with his wife, telling sto ries to his grandchildren and anyone who would lis ten, and exploring gourmet foods. Josephine M. “Jo” McNitt, 87, of Centre Hall was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 18, 2022. Born on Feb. 9, 1935, in Centre Hall, she was the daughter of the late Bruce H. and Renna M. (Burk holder) Knarr. On Dec. 27, 1957, at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Cen tre Hall, she married her high school sweetheart, A. Richard “Andy” McNitt, who survives at home. Jo attended the Centre Hall Potter High School and graduated in 1953. This was the first class to receive a diploma from the Penns Valley Area High School. She attended Lock Haven University where she was a four year let ter winner in field hock ey, and earned her BS in Health and Physical Ed ucation in 1957. She was the physical education teacher at Bald Eagle Area from 1957 until 1961, and then began teaching at Penns Valley. After a few years, she stopped teach ing full-time but contin ued as a substitute teacher for many years. While at BEA, Jo also coached the cheerleading squad, ladies basketball, and softball teams. Later she was both a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. She is remembered for de veloping and instructing a day camp termed ‘play ground’ held each summer in Centre Hall. Jo was an active mem ber of the Trinity United Church of Christ, serving as a deacon on the Consis tory Board and teaching Sunday school. She served on a variety of commit tees but especially loved being part of the flow er committee, ensuring beautiful arrangements on the altar and church dec oration during holidays. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flow er beds. She was an avid Grange Fair attendee and tented for 86 consecutive years. Jo loved to min gle and surround herself with friends and family; she could often be found striking up conversations with anyone around her. She liked going on trips to the beach, visiting Atlan tic City, and playing cards with her friends. She was a vibrant spirit, small but mighty, with strength and spirit that illness and age could not suppress. Along with her husband, Jo is survived by her son, Andrew S. “Andy” McNitt and his wife, Teresa, of Centre Hall; her daugh ter, Barbara J. McNitt and her husband, Stephen Pe ters, Jr, of Centre Hall; six grandchildren, Alexander McNitt of Titusville, FL, Benjamin McNitt of Cen tre Hall, Abigail McNitt (Dennis Spielman) of Ev ans, GA, Katherine McNitt of Lock Haven, Joseph McNitt (fiancÈ Isabel Ah wee Marrah) of Madison, WI, and Elizabeth McNitt of Lock Haven; two step grandchildren, Lydia Barlup (Nathan) of New Bloomfield and Iris Peters of Newport; and five great grandchildren.Serviceswere Thurs day, July 21 and 22, 2022, at the Trinity UCC in Centre HallA graveside service was held at the Reformed & Lu theran Cemetery in Centre Hall.The family would like to thank the staff of Wyn wood House for their compassion for and care of Jo. Anna (Brandyberry) Miller, 100, of Valley View Haven, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at theAnnaHaven.was born on June 13, 1922, in Decatur, Ind. She was the only child of Ezra O. and Lena Mae (Pearson) Brandyberry. She was preceded in death by her parents, her hus band Dr. Robert Miller on March 4, 2020, and an ad opted son, Timothy. She is survived by an ad opted son, Stephen R. Mill er and companion Mary Houseman of Elliottsburg, a grandson, Stephen R. Miller Jr., a granddaugh ter, Shania Celine Ann Miller, and a number of great-grandchildren.Hergrowingup years were very fulfilling and joyous. She learned to play five musical instru ments. By example of her skill on her mouthorgan, a mouthorgan band was or ganized in her elementary school. The band played for numerous community organizations. She played the organ occasionally for her home church. She loved her pet chickens, one of which would perch on her shoulder as a re minder it was bedtime. She was very gifted at ten nis and was an excellent school student. She was favored as best friend by many fellow students all the way through school years.In teen years, she worked early on at the lo cal bank and later as a sec retary to an Indiana state government executive. At this time, she felt God led her to study in music at Wheaton College, Ill., where she met her hus band of 68 years. They adopted two sons, one in Brussels, Belgium, during their 10-year missionary service in Europe. In Eu rope, Anna taught music at two Bible schools and was pianist with a Youth for Christ team of evangelism. She also served occasion ally as vocal soloist in the work of evangelism. Anna was a key person in the establishment of the treat ment center in Huemoz, Switzerland, for cerebral palsyBeforepatients.herwork abroad, she helped pastor several churches. As part of her church ministry, she orga nized and led Pioneer Girl ministries and helped in the musical programs as instrumentalist and solo ist.Following her mission ary years abroad, she served 35 years as church organist and 20 years as office manager for her hus band’s private practice in psychotherapy.Annaenjoyed music, reading, hosting, travel ing, camping, cooking, and ministering to her fami ly and friends. She loved and served the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart and longed to win others to experience the fulfillment and joy she experienced through Christ ever since knowing Him early in her life. Her husband enjoyed celebrating her as a real ex emplary Proverbs 31 wom an! Born April 29, 1944, he was the son of Clifford Reed Palm and Mabel Vir ginia (Henry) Palm, both deceased.Hewas preceded in death by his wife Cristina (Aquino) Palm in April 1998; sons, Chad Steven Palm in Jan. 2016; and Na than Allen Palm in April 2022; a brother, Steven Reed Palm in Jan. 2009; and sis ter, Amy Virginia Cochran of Louisville Ky. Cliff is survived by his daughters, Marilyn Salis of Hawaii; Lt Col. Grace Nieves, USAF (Ret) of Niceville Fl; Sons, Cliff III of Millville; Todd of Denver Co; six grandchil dren; and five great grand children. Cliff also had a step granddaughter Stacy, which he loved dearly. Cliff was proud to be a 1962 Graduate of Chief Logan HS. He then at tended Thompson Inst of Tech before enlisting in the Air Force on 24 Sept. 1963. Upon finishing basic training and Tech School, he was assigned to Clark AB, PI where he met and married Cristina on April 17, 1965. After 2 1/2 years in the PI, he was assigned to Tan Son Nhut AB Viet nam for a year, then back to Clark AB for 2 1/2 more years. In 1969, Cliff was as signed to the OSI in Wash DC for 2 years, back to Clark AB for 7 years, then Hawaii for 4 years, and finally assigned to New Cumberland Army Depot (where it all began). He re tired Oct. 1, 1984. Cliff was awarded the meritorious Service Med al, The Dept of Defense Commendation Medal, 4 AF Commendations Med als, and 27 other awards andCliffdecorations.enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing and fishing the Colorado High country. He also played golf. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, and the Yeager town Fire Company, and a past member of the Lewistown MooseThereLodge.will be no view ing. MiriamPeacheyL. Miriam L. Peachey, 91, of Belleville, went to heaven on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Geisinger Lew istown Hospital. She was born Aug. 26, 1930, at home near Bel leville, a daughter of Emanuel B. and Elsie A. (Peachey) Peachey. Mim is the last of her immediate family. She had three older siblings that passed away at birth, and a brother Glen that lived to be a little over a yearAfterold. a number of years doing housework, she attended and grad uated from Rosedale Bi ble School in Berlin, OH. She spent many years teaching Sunday school and summer Bible school classes. For five years she went weekly to Cren shaw Community Church in Brockway, PA to teach Sunday school. She also taught at Woodlawn and Locust Grove Mennonite Churches as well as at the Lewistown Heights. Many times Miriam en joyed going to the hills of Kentucky on mission trips.For at least 35 years, Miriam was employed at Friendship Bookstore in Lewistown, PA, first by Ray French and lat er with Theil & Andrea Kauffman.Inthemid 70s, she went with friends on a mis sion trip to the “bush” in southern Costa Rica, where she and Joy Kauff man, among many other things, varnished Dave & Pat Sharp’s many kitchen cupboards. Miriam also made a trip to the Canadian Rock ies with friends, and later greatly enjoyed going to Northern PA to hear the elkMim’sbugle. passion was missions and the spread of the gospel. Since she could not personally go, she generously shared the finances the Lord gave her. For many years, Miri am was legally blind with glaucoma, and although she found it very difficult, God’s grace sustained her in life’s experiences. He sent many friends, in cluding Pat Sharp, to help her in various ways. This gave her much joy in her later years. When Miriam sold her home in Whitehall in 2010, the Lord and her neighbors, the King sis ters, blessed her with an apartment in their home. He was employed at Peachey Builders until 1984; he then started his own business as the owner/op erator of Peachey’s Poured Walls with his son, Glen, for the past 38 years. Sam was an active mem ber of the local EAA Chap ter 518. A highlight of the year was traveling with his wife to the EAA Air Show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Lakeland, Florida. He was a faithful member of Shavers Creek Christian Fellowship Church in Pe tersburg.Hewas a respecter of per sons and all were welcome at his table. His love for the Lord was evident through his generous spirit and hos pitality.Samloved spending time with his family and had a special place in his heart for all 22 grandchildren. He will be forever loved and missed by each one whose lives were touched by his. His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednes day, July 13, 2022, at Locust Grove Mennonite Church with Roman Kauffman, Ivan Lapp and John Stoltz fus officiating. BrianReederJoseph Brian Joseph Reeder, 78, passed away July 24, 2022, at his home in Wadsworth, Ill., surrounded by family. Brian was born in Lew istown, Pa., Sept. 23, 1943, to the late Joseph Andrew and Helen Louise (McClo skey) Reeder. He was the second youngest of nine children, seven preced ing him in death. Brian graduated from Chief Lo gan High School where he played football and worked at Stewart’s Restaurant. Brian joined the U.S. Navy in Oct. 1963 as an Electrician’s Mate. His first deployment was on the USS Lindenwald LSD6. His active service career continued to five other LSD ships (amphibious warfare ships), 13 years of sea duty, three tours in Vietnam and the Bahrain War. Shore duty started by training Saudi troops on our ships in Little Creek, Va. and continued to Great Lakes, Ill. where he pushed three companies of young recruit sailors. Brian re tired after 22 1/2 years from the U.S. Navy Feb. 28, 1986 as a Senior Chief se lected for Master Chief. His commitment to our coun try continued with teach ing at Great Lakes JOBS School for an additional 22 1/2 years as a civilian. Bri an retired a second time in Sept.Brian2008.married the love of his life, Miranda (Kha yat) Reeder, Nov. 24, 1974. Together they had three beautiful daughters, lived in 3 states, and built an amazing life together. He was dedicated to his coun try, family, and friends. Brian was a very gener ous man who never met a stranger. Everyone he met became a fast friend with a handshake and a drink. He was kind, loving and had a great sense of humor. His love of football and Penn State ran deep! The Cubs also held a special place in his heart, and he enjoyed watching them win the World Series. His life of service and humor will forever be cherished and will live on through his loving wife, Miranda Reeder; three incredible girls, Michelle Hall, Melissa Messick, and Helena Kreul; three ded icated son-in-laws, Steve Hall, Jason Messick, and Adam Kreul; 12 amazing grandchildren, Aleksander Hall, Jordyn Hall, Dylan Hall, Zackary Hall, Darryk Hall and Riley Hall, Milena Messick and Jonah Mes sick, and Mia Kreul, Ma riah Kreul, Keegan Kreul and Makayla Kreul. Brian will also be cherished by his sister, Linda Nichols of Lewistown, Pa. and a host of nieces, nephews, cous ins, and friends. He is also survived by two daughters, Leah Sny der, and Shawnna DeLong and husband Mike, a step son, Frank Thomas, and two sons, David Snyder and wife Sherry and Brice Sny der and wife Jen, six grand children, Jada Thomas, Frankie Thomas, Jr., Dylan Snyder, Shannette Jor dan, Kamryn Snyder and Kyleigh Snyder, as well as a brother, Martin Snyder and wife Veronica of Missouri, and a sister-in-law, Isabelle Snyder of Lewistown. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Phil ip Edward Snook, Sr. of Longwood, Fla, her son Philip Edward Snook, Jr. and daughter-in-law There sa Ann (Leiva) Snook who live in Okinawa, Japan, and her daughter Tammy Lorraine Snook Quezada, son-in-law Joseph Alexan der Quezada, along with her grandchildren Cole Alexander Quezada and Cameron Philip Quezada who live in Longwood, Fla. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with extended fam ily, all of whom she held dear. Raised in Lewistown, Mary Ann married Philip in 1954, moved to Orlando in 1960 where they raised their family. Mary Ann had various jobs through out the years while raising her two children, including restaurant hostess, bank teller, sales associate, polit ical activist, and business owner. She enjoyed cook ing, traveling, singing in the Church choir, square dancing, watching sports (huge Penn State fan), mu sic (especially big band singers) and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandsons. Mary Ann had a larger-than-life personality with a huge laugh and an even bigger heart. She was kind and generous, yet tough, com petitive and always spoke her mind. Peggy M. Yoder, 89, of 196 Susan Drive, Bel leville, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at her home. She was born on Feb. 9, 1933, in Belleville, a daughter of the late Wes ley and Alice M. (Smith) Krepps. On Sept. 5, 1953, she married Earl D. Yoder, who preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 2019. She is survived by three daughters, Melody A. Byler and husband Ken; Margery A. Zook and husband Jim; and Marilyn A. Spangler & fi ance Don Falb, all of Bel leville, three grandchil dren, Joshua Byler and wife Jill; Craig Zook and wife Sharisa; and Colby Mannino and husband Matt; four great-grand children, Austin, Dane, Harper, and Hanna, three sisters, Tina Peachey of Florida, Helen Zook of Milroy; and Zelda Krepps, also of Milroy, as well as two sisters-inlaw, Helen Krepps of Bel leville and Karen Krepps of SheBurnham.was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn “Abe” Krepps, Buddy Krepps, and Bob Krepps and two sisters, Betty Sharp and Jean Stoltzfus.Shewas a 1951 graduate of Belleville High School. She served as a secretary/ clerical worker at Allens ville Planing Mill and Peter Becker Retirement Community in Harleys ville.Peggy was a member of Maple Grove Men nonite Church and the Willing Workers Sunday school class. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family, entertaining family and friends, cooking, reading, gardening, doing word search puzzles and em broidering.Services were Wednes day, July 6, 2022, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church. Larry A. Thompson, 85, of 24 First St., Milroy, passed away at 10:25 pm Sunday, July 3, 2022, at his home. He was born May 21, 1937, in Coburn, a son of the late Charles E. and Ma bel M. (DeLong) Thomp son. On July 4, 1957, he married Victoria A. (Wert) Thompson who survives at their home. He is also survived by a son, Douglas K. Thomp son and wife Trina of Mill Creek, two grandchildren, Dianna Kennedy and hus band Ryan and Clinton Thompson; three greatgrandchildren, Brianna Botdorf, Alaina Kennedy and Andrew Kennedy, as well as a sister, Bonnie Winn. He was preceded in death by an infant brother. Larry attended the Mil roy school. He served in the United States Army from 1960-64. He was well known for driving school bus for 47 years. Earlier in life, he worked at Westo ver’s Garage in Belleville. He attended the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Milroy. He and his wife loved to ride their motorcycle; he enjoyed mowing grass and attending church.
