MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD SUBJECT: Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) 2017 Water Conservation Measures Effective Immediately
1. At certain times of the year JBLM may be subjected to drought conditions or periods of dim inished water supplies which affects our capability to produce enough water to· meet water supply demands. Conservation measures are required to respond to these cond itions. Our priorities are to provide safe drinking water to all customers , ensure fi re protection during historically dry periods and implement conservation measures that target irrigation and vehicle washing . 2. Despite heavy rain over the Fall/Winter 2016-17 , we still face potential water shortages. First, we have had no precipitation in over 30 days. Second , the past heavy wet weather season will not affect water supply until the following year. The comp lexity of water supply management in the South Puget Sound population and its treatment takes months following each rainy season. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. 3. Beginning immediately the following conservation measures are being implemented to help protect JBLM's water supplies. Approved activities: a. JBLM Residential areas: (1) Irrigation of housing areas - 2X Week, IAW Community Area Schedule:

These water conservation measures are effective immediately. Upon change of command this policy is subject to review by the new commander who may choose to cancel this policy.
