FLUSHABLE WIPES? FALSE NEWS!!! Did you know that "flushable wipes" are not really flushable on JBLM? Our plumbing here does not support wipes and other "flushable" items. Please be sure you are only flushing toilet paper down your toilet. The photo to the left shows what happens to our pipes when you flush wipes. They clog the system causing a backup and the only way to clear it is to have a maintenance technician come and snake the plumbing line. Tell a friend! PAGE 2

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! When you’re an LMH resident, you have a voice. To make sure your voice is heard, we’ve created multiple ways for you to give us feedback. Our goal is to provide you and your family with exceptional service each time you interact with our team. We’re fortunate to play such a role in supporting you and your family. It’s a tremendous responsibility and one that our team takes great pride in fulfilling every day. Your feedback is an integral part of helping us achieve our goals.

A Word From Our West Army Partners Saving Money and Saving the Environment: Commute Trip Reduction By Kiley Westergaard, DPW Environmental Division, AGEISS Are you looking for ways to save money and reduce driving in traffic alone in this rainy weather? JBLM offers several options that help save money, reduce wear and tear on your car, and positively impact the environment. All Department of Defense employees are eligible for up to a $280 transportation subsidy per month through the Mass Transit Benefit Program. This means your commute to work could potentially be free. With current gas prices? Yes, please! This benefit can be applied to mass transit fees such as a vanpool fare or riding the bus, light-rail, and ferry. What is a vanpool? It’s a group of five to 15 people who share a ride to work in a van that a transit agency provides. Vanpools are available for several counties in the area; get started by searching your county and the word “vanpool” to find information on signing up. Multiple vanpool companies provide emergency ride home reimbursement so no need to worry about leaving work before your vanpool. If there’s an emergency, take a ride-share home and get reimbursed for the expenses. JBLM also offers public transportation to popular spots on base through Go-Transit. Go-Transit is a free shuttle service that runs from 8:00 to 6:00 pm every day. Ride Go-Transit when travelling between troop billets, places of duty, and dining facilities. Go-Transit also provides point to point rides similar to a ride-share service. Download the “TransLoc” app or call 253-477-3717 to schedule a ride. Go-Transit is available to military personnel, DOD civilians, and DOD contractors conducting business. Family members, off-duty DOD civilians, retirees, and visitors to JBLM are also permitted when space allows. Go-Transit is a great way to get around JBLM and maybe meet some new people. Along with vanpooling and Go-Transit, carpooling, biking, and walking also help reduce emissions and positively impact the environment and your health. JBLM has several options to help reduce trips to and on the installation. For more information on vanpooling and Go-Transit, visit the commute trip reduction and transit links on our website: https://home.army.mil/lewis-mcchord/my-Joint-BaseLewis-Mcchord/all-services/public_worksenvironmental_division
