State of Illinois – Sexual Harassment Training (VCM)

Several years ago the Illinois legislature mandated training for employees of every business in the state on sexual harassment. The pandemic, however, got in the way of broad implementation. Nevertheless, the content is crucial so that your firm does not run afoul of the legalities concerning a hostile work environment, first amendment free speech rights and limits on–the–job, and employer responsibilities. This 90–minute Zoom class covers the required topics, and supports your employees to understand exactly what is sexual harassment, to provide specific examples of liable conduct, and to know where and how to report problems. This will help them, and your company, to avoid fines and lawsuits. As with all risk management, it is not only what people do or say but can also be what they don’t do or don’t say that can lead to trouble. $50 Fall 2021 CEPD–466–01Z Wed CEPD–466–02Z Wed CEPD–466–03Z Wed CEPD–466–04Z Wed

Emotional Intelligence & Work Force Safety (VCM)

We were all taught, “Don’t bring your emotions to work.” Guess what? That dictate is a biochemical impossibility given how the human organism is constructed. And we ignore emotions at great peril to life and limb, especially on the job. In this overview, we address: why it is impossible to separate emotions from logic and rational thought; typical ways that uncontrolled or unrecognized emotions can impact managers, employees, the workplace and everyone’s safety; how everyone can use foundational knowledge about emotional intelligence to be a better safety manager, to better handle distracted or angry employees and customers, and to deal more effectively with a variety of typical situations encountered in the workplace. In this 90–minute overview, you will review late–breaking medical research into the biochemical basis for emotional intelligence, learn practical tips to increase your competence in each of the five areas leading to high emotional intelligence, and analyze case studies typical for the workplace. At the conclusion of the session, you can immediately apply basic principles and strategies for ‘High E.I.’ to situational needs within your organization. $99 Fall 2021 CEPD–467–01Z Tue CEPD–467–02Z Tue CEPD–467–03Z Tue CEPD–467–04Z Tue

WESST Customer Spotlight / Voice of the Client

“CNB has partnered with the college for customized training of our employees in classrooms or conference locations several times over the years. Most recently during the pandemic, however, WESST flexibly switched to providing Zoom training sessions. Our employees received the information and resources they needed in a timely manner while adhering to our financial institution’s Covid–19 safety protocols.” Pictured from left to right: Recruiter & Human Resources Generalist Aaron Wilson, Vice President & Director of Human Resources Angel Hopper & CRM Officer/Training Coordinator Katie Ashworth
