The Physical Education and Sport Programme at Leweston will

develop and evolve as we transition to co-education giving all pupils

in the School the opportunity to be involved in many different sports.

There will be a full fixture programme for girls and boys from Year 3 developing from adapted or small-sided sports towards the more

traditionally recognised games. There will also be the opportunity to compete in mixed teams. In addition, we will draw on local clubs,

with whom we already have strong links, to provide opportunities in cricket and rugby.

Leweston has a strong tradition in individual as well as team sport. As a Pentathlon Academy, the School offers a wealth of multi-sport

coaching and training. Every week pupils can access up to four swim and four run sessions. They are also able to take part in Shooting,

Laser-Run and Combined Training twice a week as well as one-to-one or club shooting and fencing lessons, led by highly qualified coaches.

Pupils are able to access the GB Pentathlon Performance Pathway.

The School also has a Triathlon Club, which has its own specialist coach.

Nursery The Nursery Transition 2 class (pre-school entry year) have a 45-minute swimming lesson and a 45-minute PE lesson per week, both

delivered by specialist teachers. These lessons take place in term-time only. Nursery PE lessons focus on the Physical Development strand of the EYFS Framework, with particular attention given to Moving and Handling as well as Health and Self-Care.

Pre-Prep and Prep School Drawing on the best elements of the National Curriculum, our broad and balanced PE Curriculum suits all ability levels and age

groups, offering three hours of physical activity to the Pre-Prep and four hours to the Prep each week as part of the curriculum. All pupils have an hour of Swimming per week throughout the year.
