LEWESTON DofE TEAM VISIT THE PALACE!
EQUESTRIAN TEAM BECOME NATIONAL CHAMPIONS AT HICKSTEAD
Over 3000 young people were presented with their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award certificates at Buckingham Palace in June. Five of the Leweston team were lucky enough to be invited to the memorable event and were given their certificates by the Earl of Wessex, with Prince William, Princess Eugenie and celebrity guests also present. Leweston’s Equestrian Team competed in the NSEA Hickstead Arena Eventing Championships in May. Three teams and three Individuals were qualified in the 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 1m classes over the ever challenging combined Show Jumping and Cross Country course, designed to test bold and re-active riding.
ROYAL NAVAL PRESENTATION TEAM VISIT LEWESTON
Leweston would like to thank the Royal Navy Presentation Team who visited the School to give a fascinating lecture. The team talked about the role the Royal Navy plays in the UK’s defence and humanitarian activities as well as its history, organisation and future. The visit was useful for pupils looking at the Navy as a possible career path but also a fantastic learning experience. Thank you to the Team and to everyone who visited.
Leweston has had an incredibly successful equestrian year with two National Championships: Team Dressage and Team Arena Eventing and one National County Dressage Champion as well as winning the NSEA Regional Points League for the second year running.

SUPERB JUNIOR MATHS CHALLENGE RESULTS

FANTASTIC INTERMEDIATE BIOLOGY OLYMPIAD RESULTS
The national competition is sat by nearly 7000 Year 12 biologists around the country. Congratulations to Isabella A who was Highly Commended for being in the Top 50%, Jessica V who won a Bronze Award and Marta B a Silver Award.
OUTSTANDING LEITHS RESULTS Congratulations to the Upper Sixth pupils who completed their five term Leiths Introductory Certificate in Food and Wine. All students passed the course with the majority achieving a distinction or merit. Lucy EB was awarded the Leiths prize.

LEWESTON PUPILS REPRESENT THE REGION AT BRITISH YOUTH FENCING
Congratulations to Lottie T, Elektra C and Vivien T who represented the Region at the British Youth Fencing Championship’s in Sheffield, in the Epee competition. It was a successful weekend for everyone.
VICTORY AT THE DRAGON BOAT RACE
Leweston’s team of 17 pupils (16 paddlers and 1 drummer) had a fantastic morning at the Sherborne Country Fair, coming home with four wins under their belt. They also achieved their best time of 1 minute 7 seconds, winning the Youth Competition.
YEAR 7 WIN AT THE SAILING REGATTA
Six Year 7 pupils competed at the Dorset Secondary School Games Sailing Regatta. They were presented with their Gold medals by Niki Birrell, British Paralympic Sailor.
European Biathle And Traithle Success
6 Leweston pupils represented Great Britain at the European Biathle & Triathle in Weiden Germany in July. Evanna B finished 9th and achieved one of the fastest shoots of the day. Ginny B came 4th as part of the GB gold medal team. In the final Darcy D had a great race taking Silver, Vivien T came 10th, and both were part of the GB Silver medal team. Mimi L had a tough race with a very high standard of competition and finished 9th. This is a great achievement both for the pupils and the School’s Pentathlon Programme to have so many pupils representing Great Britain!

Leweston pupils and staff had a fun afternoon of House competitions in the annual St Antony’s celebrations.

EGYPT IN A DAY
Following a fascinating trip to The Tutankhamun Exhibition, pupils felt inspired by Egytian traditions and lifestyle. They came into school dressed in Egyptian clothing, and followed a series of urgent notices from the Pharoahs.
PUBLIC SPEAKING EXAMS

Years 4, 5 and 6 collected their Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards for their efforts in the public speaking exams.
YEAR 3 CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION
A full scale investigation was called for in Year 3’s classroom following a crime that was committed overnight. Pupils were tasked with identifying the suspects and catching the criminal. The investigation resulted in a very guilty Head of Prep being apprehended after lunch!
Year 5 and 6 enjoyed their annual residential at Braeside. This term, Pupils got involved in team building and leadership activities such as ‘Life Line’, ‘Pipe Game’, orienteering and many more.
ROYAL WEDDING CELEBRATIONS Pupils had a fabulous time celebrating the royal wedding in their walled garden. The afternoon was spent enjoying tasty food and lots of fun outdoor activities!

RETREAT We shared two fantastic Catholic Retreats with Year 5 classes from St Gildas’, Yeovil and St Catherine’s, Bridport this term. The children played rounders, visited Trinity Chapel and carried out a walk of thanks around the School grounds.
PIRATE PARTY
We welcomed our new School starters to our pirate themed Reception Party this term. The children were introduced to the classroom and teachers whilst getting involved in pirate themed activities and face painting.

We were delighted to welcome back Old Antonian, Anuschka Schofield, to speak at the Prep Speech Day about her career as a Natural History Producer/Director. The children were inspired and there are already some heading for a career in Natural History when they are older! We also had the pleasure of welcoming back Old Antonian, Surg Lt Cdr Philippa Bennett RN, who gave a talk about her Naval and Medical career to date. Philippa’s talk was inspiring and influential and can be read in full on the School website.
YEAR 11 CELEBRATION DAY Year 11 pupils leapt into the swimming pool to celebrate the end of their exams. They then enjoyed a BBQ in the glorious sunshine and a game of rounders. Everyone in the year group has worked so hard over the exam period and deserved a fun celebration day.
FAREWELL TO YEAR 13
Speech Day was a great way to celebrate the School year and our fantastic Year 13 Leavers who will be truly missed. The Year 13 prefects laid down their robes ready for Year 12 to pick up the mantle and our Head Girl, Clemmie, gave a heart-warming speech reminiscing on her time at Leweston. Year 13 also enjoyed a fantastic ‘Moulin Rouge’ Leavers Ball with delicious food, fantastic entertainment, fireworks, and a disco. We wish all our leavers the best with their next adventure and look forward to hearing updates on all of their achievements.
