Celebrating food: Almost as good as food itself With the success of the Korean drama Daejanggeum, or Jewel in the Palace, in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan, the popularity or Korean foods are rising in Asia. The rising popularity is also attributable to the Korean Wave (Hallyu) sweeping Asia. STAYING IN KOREA
Even better beds: Koreastay, Goodstay and Hanok Homestay
Technically, only one of these three catchy rhyming government-subsidized programs for budget lodging is new. Hanok Homestay, which supplies lodgings at a traditional Korean-style house, or hanok, and Goodstay, which is simply a logo that indicates endorsement (and at least a degree of vetting) from the Korea Tourist Organization, are both relatively familiar staples on the budget accommodation scene.
guards were responsible for guarding and patrolling the royal palaces and opening and closing the gates of the palaces. After some extensive historical research, this splendid and elegant traditional Korean royal court cultural ceremony was first re-enacted in 1996 and has been a must-see amongst Seoul’s tourist attractions ever since. The Changing of the Royal Guard Ceremony is a great opportunity to experience a rare traditional scene in Seoul. MORE INFORMATION: http://www.visitseoul.net/ MUSICAL

NATURE
The National Flower of Korea
The national flower of Korea is the mugunghwa (무궁화), rose of sharon. Every year from July to October, a profusion of mugunghwa blossoms graces the entire country. Unlike most flowers, the mugunghwa is remarkably tenacious and able to withstand both blight and insects. The flower’s symbolic significance stems from the Korean word mugung, meaning immortality. This word accurately reflects the enduring nature of Korean culture, and the determination and perseverance of the Korean people.
