WINTER 2022 1% Of All Sales Benefit The Levitate Foundation

to our levitate family

We’re honored and amazed to be able to say that this Small Business is about to enter the year of celebrating its 20th Anniversary. Levitate has been so incredibly lucky along the way to have been blessed with friends, family, and staff who believe wholeheartedly in the mission of making the world a more creative and connected place. We’re eternally grateful for your support and belief in our mission and believe it is the reason we are still her today. Thank You.

The journey from the small second-floor surf shop to multiple stores, festivals, camps, products and hundreds of employees has been nothing short of both exciting and rewarding, and we’re incredibly excited for the future and to to unveil the next steps in the journey. Without a doubt, its you - our customers, supporters, team members, actual family and all that feel like family, that have made the ride so stoke filled, styled out, and soul fulfilling.

This was a year of building back up to speed and setting a course to pursue our passions into the future - The Levitate Music Festivalre-emerged into its fullest form ever, we launched The Levitate Foundation, Flannel Jam found its feet, we adventured on Hurricane Hunts, unveiled great new products, extended the Backyard into Fall for the first time ever, and boogie’d on through another incredible year of camps, stores, live music and events, festivals, great food, and more. We want to share some of those stories with you in these pages, because you all have been a part of their writing. Thank you for being a part of the Levitate story this year and every year - we can’t wait to see what comes next!

Behind the scenes, we’ve been working for years learning how to design, source, and build apparel that stands up to hot summers on the beach and blustery New England winters. It has been a fun and fulfilling journey filled with frustrations, tears, and emerging successes. This year though, it felt like we burst through to the other side producing our favorite Summer and Winter lines yet that we are incredibly proud to wear and sell. We’ve been working incredibly hard to build a small supply chain that allows us to select sustainable options and support circular economies, with the goal of producing products that are inspired and built for New England. Check out our Holiday line in between the pages that follow, and stay tuned for more fresh products being released later this holiday and into Spring/ Fall 2023!

Love, Dan, Jess & The Entire Levitate Family

On the eve of our biggest event ever, we publicly launched a long term project we’ve been working on behind the scenes for many years - The Levitate Foundation, a 501C-3 nonprofit to share our mission of cultivating a better future by creating and conserving access to music, art and theoutdoors. As Levitate’s reach has expanded, we’ve recognized that we have an opportunity to use our brand, events, and voice as a platform to launch a charitable foundation to share our values around creativity and connection to nature in communities locally and across the nation.

Since the announcement of the Foundation’s inception in July, we have selected a board made up of incredible community activists, worked with and fundraised over $100,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield, and thoroughly explored and plotted our course for the future which we will share publicly this spring. Stay tuned!

looking back on the rebirth of the Levitate music festival

After 3 years of uncertainty in the world and in the music industry as a whole, the prospect of the return of LMF to full-force was both overwhelming and incredibly exciting. By the time July rolled around, the anxiety had been washed away by a wave of sheer stoke...the 2022 Festival will go down as by far the largest, and by nearly all accounts, the best, Festival that we’ve ever thrown. The energy created by the reuniting of this incredible community soaked deep into every inch of the Fairgrounds and was felt clearly by each musician, artist, fan, and crewmember. It was a surreal weekend for all those who attended, with countless surprises, heartwarming moments, and displays of pure stoke and soul.

We were incredibly lucky to brave the uncertain times thanks in large part to the overwhelming support of both ticketholders and artists - the majority of which who stayed on to the event all the way from 2019 (crazy! tickets went on sale in December 2019) through July of 2022. It was incredible to have thousands of people and some massive musicians stand behind us for years at a time and wait it out.

We’re already excited for next year, where we’ll be celebrating the 10th anniversary Festival and 20 years of Levitatewe hope to see you all there.

INTO THE FUTURE

After rounding out our 3rd year of our touring celebration of Fall in New England, it really feels like our Fall Festival is finding its groove. We hit the road again, ripping through our favorite towns in New England with our friends Greensky Bluegrass, Molly Tuttle, and Midnight North - accompanied by hot cider and whiskey, flannels, cider donuts, and plenty of Fall festivities.

The opportunity to take Levitate on the road through New England has been an incredible experience - made even better by celebrating the fun of our favorite season with you all. We’ve bee working on a poem of epic proportions to recap this years’ Jam...it felt like the only appropriate way to capture the captivation of Flannel Jam.

Ahhh yes

the world’s first REVERSIBLE OUTDOORSMAN SWEATER

We wanted to build a classic sweater that would make the outdoorsmen of yore proud. While gutting the inside of our new office earlier in the year (that used to be a state of MA Fish & Game Office in the early 1900s), we unearthed some snapshots in time of some discerning outdoorsmen that inspired us to build this sweater that is defined by form and function. Made with two sides of insulating and breathable SeaWool, and fully reversible with the dominant colors of the green forest of early fall and burnt orange of the winter salt marsh. This versatile sweater can be your mid or outer layer, depending on weather and how you want to wear it.

Lady Atlantic’s Awakening

With the change of the seasons came the familiar and long overdue trope for those that are surfers in these Northern quarters: Lady Atlantic’s awakening. While schedules stabilized and people exchanged their swimwear for their toastiest fall attire in preparation for another winter, we prepared our boards and wetsuits and set our eyes to the coast.

We were lucky enough to escape “work” at the surf shop to squeeze in some very successful Hurricane Hunts. The majority of our crew cut work in search of more swell filled harbors down South, or in the woods in the North. Some pulled the ultimate maneuver in surfing - nomadic life in a van from spot to spot; guaranteeing you be first on the peak right at the moment the sun breaches the horizon. It was another incredible season to be a New England surfer...hope your own hunts provided as well.

Up next... the colder, bigger, and meaner winter storms for those who dare!

Fishing The Fall Run in Style

Boats are being pulled, gear is finally getting organized, and flies are getting retied (or retired) - The Fall Run is coming to a close as the winter chill sets in (in MA at least). We put our Baja Pullover to the test all season long and the results are in: it makes the perfect fleece layer for out on the water. High collar with oversized tort buttons to button up to keep the chill out, plus enough style to take right from the boat or beach to the bar.
