SYNOPSIS
Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task – if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn’t be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.
Sid Martin Shrek
I attend the PQA (Pauline Quirk Academy) and have performed in their production of Matilda. I have enjoyed stepping out of my comfort zone and collaborating with many new people in this production. If I were a fairy tale character I’d be Peter Pan ‘cause I want the ability to fly!
Liv Bethell Fiona (Thurs/Fri)
I’ve performed in lots of different shows such as; Peter pan, Highschool Musical, Oliver, Hairspray and most recently playing Annie. Shrek has been such an amazing experience. I was so lucky to be cast as Fiona and even luckier to be able to perform with my favourite people. If I were a fairytale character I’d be Sleepy, the dwarf from Snow White because I’m always tired or fast asleep. zzzz
Olivia Barnes Lord Farquaad
I attend PQA out of school and I do ballet a LOT!
Having taken part in the last 2 school shows, I have loved doing Shrek. My favourite part of doing the show is learning my lines and singing. If I were a fairy tale character I would be Peter Pan because he can fly.
Emily Upton Dragon
I have performed in various charity events and celebrations and belong to the Harlow Ballet Association and Spirit Young Performers Company. I have enjoyed the rehearsing and choreography of Shrek because it’s really fun to be active while learning. If I was a fairytale creature I’d be the sugar plum fairy because I love ballet and sweets so being in the land of sweets would be a dream.
Emily Wood Young Fiona
I have been performing since I was 5 and and my favourite role was Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. I recently joined BSA and am rehearsing for Legally Blonde. I have enjoyed having fun and performing with my friends in this produciton. If I were a fairytale character, I would be Rapunzel because I love her long, thick and shiny hair.
CAST
Summer Waite Donkey
I have been doing theatre for 7 years and currently training at BSA where I’ve played Ms Myers in Fame The Musical and am currently rehearsing for Legally Blonde. I’ve really enjoyed playing Donkey because he’s unlike any other role I’ve had before! If I were a fairy tale character it would be Tinkerbell because even though she’s witty and diva-like, she’s always loyal to the people she loves.
Violet Hall Fiona (Wed) Mama Ogre
This is my 3rd school production having played Scaramouche in We Will Rock You last year. I am studying with Stagebox and am due to be performing at the Shaftesbury Theatre later this year. I am really excited to be performing in Shrek and if I were a fairytale character I’d be Cinderella so that I could talk to animals.
Lani Calladine Pinocchio
Pinocchio is my first principal role. I go to Diverse Performing Arts in Sawbridgeworth and I absolutely love it there. I have enjoyed meeting the amazing people in the cast and crew of Shrek and it has really helped me make some new friends. If I were a fairytale character I would be Little Red Riding Hood as I LOVE her red cloak and I want to eat cake.
Matei Hardware Papa Ogre
This is my first acting role and it won’t be my last! I used to do Stagecoach but quit due to Covid. I have enjoyed the time with friends and having fun during the Shrek production. If I were a fairytale character I would be would be Peter pan because I’m always walking into things!
Honey Askew Teenage Fiona
I am an associate at Spirit Young Performers Company in London and I have peformed at His Majesty’s Theatre in the West End! I have really enjoyed rehearsing with my friends and meeting and working with students from older years. If I were a fairytale character, I’d be Tinkerbell for her spirit of adventure, mischievousness, and belief in the magic of imagination.
LIST
Emily
Dainty Storyteller 1
I perform a lot in shows outside of school with my drama group, Youth Create, and have recently won a Jack Petchey award for my contribution to drama. I have enjoyed making new friends from different year groups and I always love the singing aspect of any show. Were I a fairytale character I think I would be Rupunzel because I have a great imagination and am strong willed and diligent.
Kiki Adekunle-Sanusi
Storyteller 3
This is not my first acting role as I have played the detective Agatha Christie in a play called Mystery at Magpie Manor. I’ve enjoyed the Shrek staging and the costumes -it’s so amazing! If I were a fairytale character, I would be Little Red Riding Hood because red’s my favourite colour and the fact that she tried to get eaten by a wolf!

ENJOY THE SHOW!
If you were a fairytale character... Who would YOU be...and why?
Flute is my 2ns instument as I am also Grade 5 piano. The Shrek songs are really fun to play and the band has a really nice atmosphere. If I were a fairytale character I would be Maleficent - she has a great personality and I’ve always wanted a pet crow!
I have been playing the guitar for about 4 -5 years. This is my first band experience and I’ve enjoyed learning and playing songs with the other musicians. If I were a fairytale character I would be Snow White’s dwarf Sneezy, because I’m always sneezing (dust allergy)!
THE BAND
I have been playing the clarinet for just under a year. This is my first experience of playing in a band and I like the fact that I get to talk to people who play different instruments and I can learn from them. If I were a fairytale character I would be Donkey in Shrek because I have quite a good sense of humor and I like to make people laugh.
I have been playing the guitar for 6 years now and have achieved Grade 4. I’ve played in a band a couple of times and I love that this one has been very inclusive. If I were a fairy tale character, I’d be Peter Pan because he has an eternity to have fun!
I have been playing the piano for 6 years now and am currently working towards my Grade 6 exam. I have enjoyed playing with my brother and other firends in the Shrek band. Finlay’s mum thinks his fairytale character would be Prince Charming...
(that’ll teach you to answer your emails in future, Fin!)
I have been playing the flute since Year 3 and am now considering taking my first exam. This is my first experience of playing in a band and I have loved working with other students and teachers to make music. If I wer e a fairytale character, I would be Moana!
I have been playing the Cello for 3 years but don’t take grades. I’m in LevEnsemble but I’ve never been in a show before. This production has been fun and I’ve learned a lot of new things and progressed a lot. If I were a fairytale character,I’d probably be a dragon because... why not?
I have been playing the drums for three years now and I have achieved Grade 3. This is my first time playing in a musical and I’ve enjoyed how different the songs are and learning them. If I were a fairytale character, I’d be the Gingerbread Man and enjoy his solo!
I have been playing the drums for about a year and am self-taught. I also play the bass guitar and play in two other bands. I have really enjoyed the atmosphere and working with Mr Sarjeant in the Shrek band. If I were a fairytale character, I’d be Peter Pan, so that I could fly.
I am currently studying for my Grade 6 music exam and have played in other bands however, I have enjoyed learning to adapt timings to work with the acting in Shrek. If I were a fairytale character, I’d be Peter Pan because who wants to grow up?
I’ve been playing the guitar for 2½ years and currently working to get Grade 5. I have played in a few bands both inside and out of school but have enjoyed being part of the Shrek band because...we rock, right?!
