Deloris Van Cartier is an aspiring singer in Philadelphia, where she is auditioning to perform at her gangster boyfriends nightclub. Deloris believes that Curtis is going to introduce her to a big producer, but is upset when he tells her she is not ready. Hurt and rejected, Deloris decides to break up with him, but when she goes to find him she accidentally sees him kill one of his cronies. Deloris runs to the police, who place her in hiding at a convent until Curtis is brought to trial. At first, Deloris feels as though it will be the worst thing in the world, chafing against the constraints of convent life and an immovable Mother Superior, but once she is introduced to the struggling choir at the convent, everything changes. She finds that many of the nuns at the convent are not that different from her, and that they are quite fun to be around. They help give her a bigger purpose in her life, showing her a genuine love and affection that was missing prior to her arrival at the convent.

Jemima Smith

Deloris Van Cartier

I have never been in a school play before but I have loved every minute of this one. The cast are incredible and I have made some amazing friends along the way. I have really enjoyed playing Deloris because she is so fun and confident. I think we match each other well which made Deloris easier to play.

Violet Hall

Sister Mary Robert

I’m 14 and this is my 4th school show. I train at Stagebox in London. undertaking their musical theatre programme, alongside working with Vocal Balance. I am currently rehearsing for Legally Blonde at South Mill Arts. Sister Act has been a really fun experience with amazing people and, just like Sister Mary Robert, I will continue to ‘Raise my Voice’.

Summer Waite

Sister Mary Lazarus

I’ve been singing, acting and dancing since I was 6 and have been training at KBD dance and BSA Performing Arts. This is my third school show, my previous performances being in Shrek and Matilda. I’ve enjoyed being the comedic relief of the PA Department and making so many new friends with the other cast members, who now feel like family :)

Sid Martin

Curtis Jackson

I’ve been performing for 4 years with Pauline Quirk Academy and Bishop’s Stortford Academy of Performing Arts. I do also play bass guitar a little bit. I’ve enjoyed Aister Act because it has stretched me and tested my skills.

I have almost nothing in common with Curtis - I’m much more hyper!

Aaron Bowden

TJ

During my time at this school I have been in Matilda, We Will Rock You (head of costumes) and now Sister Act. All the school shows have been a dream come true. Thank you to the teachers and the most amazing friends I could have. Acting is a massive part of my life, thanks to these amazing people and support from my family and friends.

Emily Upton

Mother Superior

I love performing and being on stage and was in my first show at six months old. I have been lucky enough to perform twice at Move It and various other events in London and I currently train weekly at Pineapple and their performing arts school. I’ve loved doing this production as it has stretched me out of my comfort zone.

Maira Thira

Sister Mary Patrick

I came out of the womb pirouetting, ate up my drama GCSE, and now I’m here at Leventhorpe. In my past, I went to a performing arts school for 5 years. I’ve most enjoyed getting close with this cast; love you guys :) And in terms of what I have in common with my character – I’m absolutely bloomin’ hilarious, mate!

Ben Barrett

Monsieur O’Hara

I’ve loved performing since primary school - acting is one part of my life I can’t remove! I’ve also been a gymnast for 10+ years and now I coach too. I always love school shows, and Sister Act’s given me an amazingly supportive community and incredible new friends! Like my character, I also love music - “it makes me whole!”

Will Bray

Eddie Souther

I’ve been acting and singing for most of my life now, both in and out of school and I’ve enjoyed performing in the previous school shows; Matilda and We Will Rock You. This is my first time playing a policeman, so just know that if you don’t enjoy my performance, I will arrest you...

Guy Anthony

Joey

I have done many solo performances in the past, however, Joey is my first main character role in a production. I have many musical hobbies, such as singing, playing piano and bass guitar. I enjoy playing Joey because he is witty, loyal, funny and let’s not forget his attempts at impressing the ladies!

Arlo Booth Pablo

I have studied with Italia Conti for 3 years and have been in many of their shows. I have also started learning the piano. I am very grateful and excited that I have been able to participate in this fantastic show! I have enjoyed being able to play a character who is very funny and entertaining just like me!

Daisy Phillips

Sister Mary Theresa

I’ve been a member of Diverse Performing Arts for 8 years. I love performing and have been in shows like Fame, Shrek and Seussical. I’ve loved being in Sister Act because it’s given me a chance to meet new people and become a better performer! I’m not much like Sister Mary Theresa except I feel old compared to some of the nuns!

Sophie OsazeeIgbinomwanhia

Sister Mary Martin- of-Tours

I joined the school at the beginning of Year 12 and it’s been great fun being involved in the show and getting to know more people. I have enjoyed playing Sister Martin-of-Tours because she’s dramatic and clueless...a bit like myself!

Jayden BlackstoneIbrahimErnie

I really enjoy drama and theatre. This is my 3rd show with the school. Outside of school Ive been attending Livewire Theatre School for 3 years. I’ve really connected with the cast in Sister Act and I hope that I can continue being involved in these extraordinary shows.

Elin Mills

I play the flute and I’ve been playing for around 2 years, I used to do lessons, but now I teach myself. I’ve done 3 grades when I took lessons but I’m grade 5 now. I have enjoyed playing in the Sister Act band as I like playing the flute, but hadn’t ever had the chance to play with others.

Sophie Stephenson Guitar

I have been playing guitar for 6, almost 7, years. I have enjoyed being in the school production of Sister Act because I have had the chance to learn how to play along with other musicians and gained musical knowledge.

Lilia Luxford Keyboard

I’ve been playing the piano for 10 years and am currently studying for my grade 7. I’m also a singer, and I really enjoy performing music. I’ve found Sister Act fun and it’s been a great experience to be a part of. I have done loads of shows with Leventhorpe in the past and I look forward to doing more!

Flute Cameron Isted Drums

I’m a Year 12 student and a selftaught drummer, as well as a guitarist and bassist. This is the first time I’ve been a musician for a school production, and have loved playing alongside the other musicians in the band, as well as the music itself.

Staff Band Members

Eddie Bray

Tenor Saxophone / Clarinet

Hi I’m Eddie. I’m grade 4 clarinet and doing my grade 4 saxophone this term. Last Summer, I also played the keyboard in the school production of Shrek. I’m excited to be in the band and I hope you’ll enjoy the show!

Nick Jones Bass Guitar

Hi, I’m Nick, and I’m on bass for the show, which I’ve been playing for a few years now on top of guitar, my main instrument. I’ve really loved being in the band; it’s been great fun and a good challenge since this might be some of the hardest bass I’ve ever played. Enjoy the show!

Charlie Wiltshire Keyboard

I’ve been playing piano since I was six years old and have also been learning to play the guitar. I love playing for the shows because the atmosphere is always brilliant, rehearsals are an experience, and at least it forces me to improve my sight-reading!

Jake Waller Drums

I have been playing the drums for 3 years now but I also play guitar and bass.

This production has been fun to be in because of the good community feel to it that we all enjoy being a part of.

MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

When the Performing Arts team met during the Autumn term to discuss potential shows, several of us had independently thought that Sister Act would be a fantastic choice for the wonderfully talented students of Leventhorpe. What’s not to love about catchy, uplifting songs, big company dance routines, colourful and creative staging and a “bunch” of singing nuns?!

Rehearsals began in early November, giving the cast, crew and band just under 12 school weeks to stage arguably the most ambitious show we have yet to produce! But if anyone can do it, it’s the creative students here at Leventhorpe. From the sound and lighting team to the the stage managers and stage crew, the band to the student choreographer, there isn’t one part of this show that hasn’t been created with the students at the heart of it. It’s taken commitment, creativity and perseverance from all involved to pull this wonderful show together, and we could not be more proud of all students involved. Everyone, students and staff alike, have worked tirelessly to put on the production you see before you. It truly has been a whole school effort. A special thanks to Design & Technology, Art, IT, Front Office, the Site team, SLT, and all the Leventhorpe staff and students who have helped in anyway. Without support from across the school, we wouldn’t be able to put these shows on, proving that we are all “part of one terrific Sister Act”.

Now it’s time for you to ‘Raise Your Voice’ as we ‘Bless Our Show’, ‘Spread The Love Around’ and catch that ‘Sunday Morning Fever’. So sit back, relax and enjoy the show - we hope you find it ‘Fabulous, Baby!’

Lucy Miller

THE PERFORMING ARTS DEPARTMENT would like to thank all of the students who are all just brilliant and make working at Leventhorpe so rewarding. However, we could not have put on this production without the help of everyone who appears on this page. Thank you to each and every one of you!
