for over 100 years, the Leuchtturm brand has stood for high-quality accessories for the safe storage and presentation of collectors‘ treasures – in the field of philately as well as numismatics. In 2015 an idea comes to life with the introduction of the first issued Euro souvenir banknote.

These banknotes are becoming more and more common in vending machines, at cash registers, ticket offices or simply sold in souvenir shops of many museums, amusement parks or tourist attractions. They are now sold in many countries and are coveted collectibles. The Euro souvenir banknotes are printed by an official printer of Euro banknotes. Consequently, tthey not only take advantage of using security paper, but adapt security features such as: watermark, a metal stripe in the paper, tactile relief, hologram, microprinting, see-through register, fluorescent/invisible ink, serial letters and a control number. Certain extra characteristics (especially the use of a purple colour) mean they cannot be confused with genuine currency.
