DALE 36 Built for design
Mike’s vision to build a new classic styled model started to become more than just an idea back in early April 2020 when discussions and sketches between Mike and Arthur ( Nelson designer) soon resulted in drawings flying back and for in earnest. Those early days in lockdown provided a window of space and an uninterrupted time to reflect on what Mike really wanted to achieve from this latest design. Mike had already received unprecedented interest in both our Classic 35 and Classic 45 and there was an appetite out in the market for a beautifully built boat with classic styling but of a more manageable size than our iconic 45 and more accommodation than our 35. In reality, the 36 provides the 45 accommodation and wheelhouse, in a smaller boat, with the same acclaimed underwater semi displacement hull shape used on our DALE 40.
All in all, a lot of boat with classic styling and pedigree for cruising with confidence, reassurance and security.

A NICE PLACE TO BE
A large forward cabin, generous toilet and shower, hand-crafted galley open to spacious wheelhouse. The full width forward deck design provides for exceptional space within the accommodation allowing for a substantial double berth (nigh on a queen size double) and a high degree of customisation available with regard to locker and hanging locker space for those that like cruising further afield or stay on board for extended periods in comfort. For that essential feel of luxury and comfort when longer-term cruising, the toilet and shower has ample space and finished with solid timber detailing.
The galley is beautifully appointed to reflect the personal taste and requirements of the owner, fitted with corian worktop with high timber fiddles, large hob, sink, ample lower locker space and fridge at aft end set back beneath the wheelhouse sole for maximum use of space. The stowage is extensive with made to measure crockery stowage machined and hand detailed out of solid timber.
For those requiring a second cabin for family or guests, an alternative arrangement is available with galley to wheelhouse and a second cabin partially tucked beneath the wheelhouse sole.
The wheelhouse has ample space for a fully enclosed social dining area. Our moveable helm and pilot seats slide forward at the touch of a button to provide comfortable seating for five with an optional additional internal table for a further three persons if required. Fully opening timber wheelhouse doors integrate the wheelhouse with the spacious cockpit seating for open air socialising and dining whilst the mid transom door provides easy access onto a full width boarding platform for boarding and stepping ashore.
For setting off to sea, the fully contoured leather helm and pilot seats slide aft at the touch of a button. The underwater hull design with long keel provides for absolute ease of handling and manoeuvring.

DALE 40 Built for serious cruising
“Unbelievable.” Mikes’ simple response to motoring at 23 knots in a four metre Irish Sea during her first sea trial.
Our new DALE 40 takes the Nelson lineage to the next level combining the very best attributes of the DALE Nelson 38 and the DALE Classic 45. The 40 achieves the seemingly impossible, delivering further enhancement to already renowned levels of sea keeping, astonishing even the most experienced of helmsman.
“It’s freakish the confidence this boat gives you in the sort of seas that would have you longing for the safety of a harbour and wishing for it to be over on most craft of a similar size. Even in waves as big as this, there’s no need to think about the throttles, just set them – generally at a speed slightly higher than you think might be comfortable – and watch in wonderment as the boat just eats it up.” - Jack Haines, Motor Boat and Yachting.
The forward underwater profile of the hull follows the 38 to offer the best upwind ride, whilst the aft sections are borrowed from the 45’s greater deadrise for improved handling in following seas. The fuller bow and increased freeboard provide a drier ride and substantially more spacious accommodation without compromising on seakeeping.
Latest CNC machining techniques were utilised to build the plugs and moulds giving the new DALE 40 hull and superstructure the highest levels of accuracy and finish and allowing the customisation of the internal arrangements to the finest of detail.

The outdoor helm guarantees an unforgettable connection with the elements and the raised aft deck with its relaxed seating provides an exceptional space in which to be on the water. Access the wheelhouse through a beautifully crafted timber sliding door, a taste of the quality of joinery which awaits you as you step inside.
