Play Perth and the South West’s sensational weather means the family can spend lots of time enjoying the great outdoors. You can play, walk, run, swim, climb, ride, picnic, get up close and personal with some animals or just sit in the beautiful surroundings and watch the world go by. The city is blessed with a multitude of suburban parks and playgrounds and larger regional parks located right on its doorstep. Here is a selection of our favourite. Kings Park would have to be one of our nation’s best… and its FREE! Pack a picnic or call in and see Roy at Stickybeaks (see opposite), and make a day of it. Climb the DNA tower, check out the views from the Walkway, take the littlies to the Ivey Watson Playground, go back to the age of dinosaurs at Synergy Parkland or try the newly refurbished Saw Avenue adventure playground Kids will love exploring the tunnels and caves and climbing up to the fort at this huge nature based playground. BBQ’s, toilets and pavilions are available. Beeliar Regional Park Located within 10km of Perth City and spanning 3 suburbs is the vast wetlands of 19 different lakes known as Beeliar Regional Park. Families will find picnic and barbecue pavilions dotted throughout the parkland, alongside many different lakeside settings. With linked cycle-ways and walking paths, as well as pretty bridges to cross and a variety of wildlife and birdlife to discover, this is a great place Caversham Wildlife Park gives you a chance to to explore nature on your bikes or get a little meet the koalas up close, feed the kangaroos and grubby exploring the water’s edge. learn about the native animals of Australia. This is one of the best things to do in Perth with littlies. The best part is everything is included in the one price on entry! Yes even photo opportunities and the food to feed the animals! Molly’s farm, on site, has horses, deer and donkeys amongst other animals that children can pet, feed or have their photo taken with. There are shows such as the Wombat and friends which are fabulous. All children will love this park –it is amazing! Do not miss it!
