6 – 11 juillet/july, 12h–20h/12–8 pm (22h lundi 6 juillet/10 pm Monday 6 july) COSMOS est un laboratoire d’expression des pratiques émergentes en photographie, édition et arts visuels. Il y célèbre la multiplicité et la singularité des pratiques photographiques avec un intérêt tout particulier pour l’édition, support privilégié de création pour les artistes et photographes de ces 15 dernières années. Dès l’origine, l’événement a affirmé la volonté de ne pas associer un seul type de diffusion aux pratiques photographiques et artistiques. Pour ses trois premières éditions, la photographie éditée (horizontale) a été associée à la photographie exposée (verticale). Se sont ensuite ajoutés dans un même espace modulable, installations numériques et archives expérimentales, conférences, présentations de projets participatifs, Live printing, performances, etc… En 2015, désormais partenaires des Rencontres de la photographie d’Arles, nous avons invité 80 éditeurs, libraires et institutions photographiques dans le but de créer un véritable terrain de convivialité, d’échange et de partage. Cosmos-Arles Books propose également 10 projets d’expositions expérimentales, des conférences, des popup’s, signatures, des rencontres avec les artistes et une multitudes d’événements autour du livre de photographies. COSMOS is a laboratory of expression for emerging practices in photography, publishing, and the visual arts. It celebrates the multiplicity and singularity of photographic practice with a special interest in publishing, the privileged creative medium for artists and photographers over the past fifteen years. from the start, the event has confirmed our desire not to restrict photographic and artistic practice to a single type of distribution . for its three first editions, published (horizontal) photography was combined with exhibited (vertical) photography. Later we added, in the same modular space, digital installations, experimental archives, lectures, presentations of participative projects, live printing, performances, etc. In 2015, now partnering with the Rencontres de la photographie d’Arles we have invited 80 publishers, bookshops and photography institutions in the quest of creating a true locus of conviviality, exchange, and sharing. Off the beaten track is a joint initiative of Presence Switzerland, the Swiss Federal Office of Culture and the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia organized by the Swiss Foundation for Photography.
