Bloomingcoloringsheet

Here is a super simple activity that requires very little material: thick paper, such as Canson. The key to making this workshop a success is to be far enough into the season to find a wide variety of colors— and therefore plenty of plants and flowers.

Thick paper, such as Canson
Desk pads / protective mats
Hairspray (optional)

To draw or color, roll the plant between your fingers into a little ball and rub it onto the paper. It feels like magic the colors appear so easily!

To preserve your creations, spray a little hairspray over them. This will help fix the colors nicely!
If you’d like to explore painting with nature in more depth, I recommend the book Peintures végétales avec les enfants by Helena Arendt, published by La Plage. The methods are more complex than simply rubbing plants on paper, but they allow for many more subtle shades.
