Blue is the most difficult color to make. Blue has long been considered the world's most popular favorite color, even though it's the rarest occurring pigment found in nature. Sure, we can see blue quite easily in the sky and water, but its tendency to appear in animals, like the endangered Grand Cayman blue iguana, is fairly uncommon Scientists at Oregon State University have described their discovery of a vivid new blue pigment that doesn't fade.

YInMn Blue, or “MasBlue” as it is known, was found while scientists were researching materials for electronics applications. The team was led by Mas Subramanian, a materials science professor at OSU. The pigment is composed of the elements Yttrium, Indium, Manganese and Oxygen.
