ALL-GIRLS SCHOOLS

Single-sex schools can be a very attractive option for high-school girls. Many all-girls private schools in Manhattan and the Bronx have been educating young women for generations. These schools are tailored to support and nurture female students. They tend to be academically rigorous and offer a rich array of sports and extra-curricular topics. Girls can pursue their school work and interests without distraction. There is strong evidence that single-sex education produces strong, confident women. Most girls schools have a relationship with an all-boys school in the neighborhood. The two schools might team up to produce musicals and other forms of theatre. They also have frequent dances and mixers.
