HORSE WELFARE – A PRIORITY
At every race meeting there are specially qualified equine veterinary surgeons on duty to look after the wellbeing of all the horses racing. There is a vet in attendance at the start of each race who, follows the horses throughout the race and is quickly on hand if a casualty occurs. It is normal procedure to erect screens around any horse receiving veterinary treatment. This allows the veterinary surgeon some privacy to fully assess the horses’ injuries and race goers should not assume the worst if screens are erected around an injured horse. The Blue Cross ambulance is always present to transport the horse back to the stable yard for further treatment if necessary.
A second veterinary surgeon is in attendance in the stable yard to assess and treat any horses requiring such attention post race.
The horses’ welfare is always our priority.
Emergency Notice
In the event of a Garda Siochana order to evacuate the stands and enclosures, the following procedures will be adopted:
1. ORDERS TO EVACUATE WILL BE MADE ON THE PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM.
2. VISUAL NOTICE WILL BE FLASHED ON THE CLOSED CIRCUIT T.V.
3. THE FIRE ALARM MAY BE SOUNDED INTERMITTENTLY.
Customers should proceed in an orderly fashion, through the EXITS to the ASSEMBLY POINTS on the RACETRACK, and remain there until the ALL CLEAR has been given.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU KNOW YOUR EXIT ROUTE.
