USEFUL INFORMATION

Medical Centre: Situated at the end of the parade ring close to the saddling stalls.

Wheelchair access: All areas within our two Stands are wheelchair accessible by lifts in both stands. There are also a number of Disabled Viewing areas within the stands and beside the parade ring and new viewing area at the Open Stand. Disabled toilets are located on the ground floor of both the Powers and Jameson Stands. Should any patrons be unsure of how to access any areas, please ask a member of Fairyhouse Staff or contact the Racecourse Office and we will gladly escort you.

Baby Changing Facilities:

Baby Changing Facilities can be found in the ladies toilets on the ground floor of the Powers Stand and the wheelchair toilet on the ground floor of the Powers Stand.

Cash Facility: Cashback facility available at the Powers Stand.

Welcome to Fairyhouse for our second jumps meeting of the year and with the recent unseasonal weather we are racing on soft ground for the first time in ten years for this fixture.

We are busy preparing for the highlight of the first half of the jumps season, the Bar One Racing Winter Festival on 2nd & 3rd December. Last year we staged the best Novice Hurdle race of the season which featured four subsequent Grade 1 winners with Marine Nationale leading them home in the Bar One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle. There are great early bird tickets available and the corporate hospitality is filling fast so talk to our team now.

On Saturday 16th September we were shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Councillor Damien O’Reilly, a true friend of Fairyhouse Racecourse and his local community.

Damien was only 40 years old when he passed away but left behind a legacy that will be forever remembered. He topped the poles in the 2019 local elections and was the current chairman of Ratoath Municipal District Council.

Damien and his great friend Caroline Moore staged the first Darkness into Light walk in Fairyhouse in 2016 and raised over €222,000 in the 6 years the walk has taken place. He also helped with the establishment of the covid vaccination centre at Fairyhouse, and in his capacity as chairman of Louth Meath Education and Training Board helped with the introduction of Dunboyne College to Fairyhouse. Damien was last in Fairyhouse for the very successful race day of his beloved St. Peter’s GAA Club, Dunboyne in June.

He will be sadly missed by all in Fairyhouse, his friends and supporters but particularly his fiancée Lisa, children Carly and Kyle and his mother Phil.

HORSE WELFARE - A PRIORITY

At every race meeting there are specially qualified equine veterinary surgeons on duty to look after the wellbeing of all the horses racing. There is a vet in attendance at the start of each race who, follows the horses throughout the race and is quickly on hand if a casualty occurs. It is normal procedure to erect screens around any horse receiving veterinary treatment. This allows the veterinary surgeon some privacy to fully assess the horses’ injuries and race goers should not assume the worst if screens are erected around an injured horse. The Blue Cross ambulance is always present to transport the horse back to the stable yard for further treatment if necessary.

A second veterinary surgeon is in attendance in the stable yard to assess and treat any horses requiring such attention post race.

The horses’ welfare is always our priority.
