Welcome to Fairyhouse for the first day of one of biggest meetings in the Irish jump racing calendar which as always will be an informative and exciting day’s racing.

Today’s card features the Grade B EasyFix Chase and the Race & Stay Fairyhouse Ladies chase. I would also like to thank Sean Ryan and his mother Ann for their support of the Jim Ryan Racecourses Beginners Chase, while Kettles Hotel are once again supporting the Fingal Ravens GFC Maiden Hurdle. Close Brothers are again sponsoring our Novice Handicap Hurdle.

With the current spell of cold weather the sponsorship of the Grade 3 WillowWarm Hurdle is very appropriate. We are delighted with the support of Ireland’s carbon neutral briquette at Fairyhouse and look forward to having them back for the Easter Festival when they will renew their sponsorship of the WillowWarm Gold Cup. WillowWarm are also kindly sponsoring a pallet of their product to each of the winning trainers here today. Today also sees the use of the new stables at Fairyhouse for the first time since their completion in October. We would like to thank all who made it possible including Horse Racing Ireland and Redweld Stables who constructed the 17 new boxes bringing our capacity now to 130. I would like to thank Redweld for their support of the Handicap Hurdle today. Tomorrow’s card features a plethora of top class races headed by the Grade 1 Bar One Racing Hatton’s Grace Hurdle in which we will be racing without Kenny Alexander’s top class mare Honeysuckle for the first time in five years. We wish her well as she embarks on the next stage of her career. Sunday’s card in 2022 produced six future Cheltenham festival winners so it is certainly not a day to be missed.

We are delighted to welcome Fingal Ravens GFC and their guests to Fairyhouse today for their annual fundraiser. We wish them all the best for the day and continued success on the field.

MEDICAL CENTRE:

Situated at the end of the parade ring close to the saddling stalls.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS:

All areas within our two Stands are wheelchair accessible by lifts in both stands. There are also a number of Disabled Viewing areas within the stands and beside the parade ring and new viewing area at the Open Stand. Disabled toilets are located on the ground floor of both the Powers and Jameson Stands. Should any patrons be unsure of how to access any areas, please ask a member of Fairyhouse Staff or contact the Racecourse Office and we will gladly escort you.

BABY CHANGING FACILITIES:

There is a baby changing and baby feeding room on the ground floor of the Powers Stand beside the lift.

ATM:

The ATM is located to the left as you come through the main entrance.

Memory of Jim Ryan In June this year, Irish racing lost one of it’s hidden heroes Jim “Sandy” Ryan. Jim had been working on Irish racecourses since 2000 supplying a wide range of services from fence building to staffing for footing back. However it was in providing a track watering service that Sandy was best known. He had been providing the watering at Fairyhouse since 2011 right up till his death. Jim and his dedicated team had perfected the art of watering two miles of a chase track and two miles of a hurdle track each evening after racing during the Easter Festival but to him it wasn’t a problem. Jim was also a keen owner and his horse Bentelamar brought him and his wife Ann to tracks both in Ireland and England. Jim has left behind a legacy for getting things done and revolutionising watering on Irish tracks and we will all miss the calls which could have come anytime from 4 in the morning to 12 at night. We are delighted his son Sean and Ann have taken over the running of Jim Ryan Racecourse services and we look forward to continuing our long association with the family.

Firefox and BALLYBURN are a long way clear of their rivals on form and both look like horses going places. Slight preference is for the latter who has won with any amount in hand on both starts so far and with further progress expected, he could be hard to beat.
