In the ethereal space of a No play the idealized sense of grace is presented in a dream-like world where the poetic essence of human behavior exists on the stage for a moment that will disappear as soon as it has been grasped. To achieve this sense of fleeting drama many No plays are set at night, where dreams and reflections conjure spirits as mysterious and elusive as any nocturnal animal. in ‘No Ghost Just a Shell’, the two bit anime character Ann Lee is emancipated from the chain of consumption by being gifted an inhuman subjectivity.
