Adornment In The Digital Age While we continue to operate in these times of change and uncertainty, I would first and foremost like to wish all our clients and their families good health and safety.

We have seen so much change and upheaval throughout the world this year and as a consequence, we have all had to adapt.

Whilst we are all trying to establish what the new ‘normal’ is going to be, what has become apparent is that throughout this pandemic, Leonard Joel’s jewellery sales have demonstrated that the appetite of jewellery enthusiasts is strong, with continuity in acquiring and building on collections.

Our auctions have evolved and taken place without the physical presence of our usual buyers in the rooms, most of whom have now converted to live on-line, phone or absentee bidding.

September Fine Jewels will be live streamed and as we did throughout the initial lockdown, we will provide as much additional information and additional images of our selection of stock to provide our clientele with the confidence to bid.

September offers another large and varied collection of jewellery and timepieces to suit all budgets and tastes. Highlights include our front cover piece, Lot 202, a delightful diamond brooch totalling 10.0cts of high-quality diamonds, with Lot 204, an impressive pair of earrings to match. There are several large solitaire diamond rings, Lot 149 and Lot 376 weighing 5.50cts and 4.06cts respectively. Lot 211 is an impressive vivid blue sapphire and diamond pendant of 37.0cts.

South Sea pearls feature throughout the collection with multiple strands in varying lengths, colours and sizes, along with many earrings or rings to complement. Large bold and brightly coloured gems also feature throughout the collection, Lot 420 being a wonderful tumbled turquoise and South Sea pearl necklace and Lot 430 a vivid green tumbled peridot bead necklace.

Included also is a small selection of pieces by regional Victorian jeweller Anthony Kean. Anthony’s pieces include some classic hand-crafted Australian animal brooches, as well as some wonderful retro style gold and gem set pieces.

For our horology enthusiasts, we have a wide and interesting selection of modern and vintage wristwatches and an array of pocket watches, including Lot 228, a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust Chronometer wristwatch and Lot 257 an explorer’s pocket watch by Auscher & Cole, London.

Signed pieces by Cartier, Bvlgari and Autore also feature throughout.
