Lekhashree Sahoo__ Internship portfolio

Page 1

I am Lekhashree Sahoo, a fourth-year architecture student at Piloo Mody College of Architecture (PMCA), Cuttack, from Angul, Odisha. This internship portfolio is a documentation of my academic experience, design explorations, and developing understanding of architecture as a profession.

This portfolio features a sampling of academic projects that reflect my development in spatial awareness, abstract thinking, and visual expression. Each project signifies an advancement towards building my design voice — one that aims to find balance between innovation and empathy.

As I seek opportunities to apply my skills in a professional environment through an internship, I hope to learn from real-world practice and contribute meaningfully to the design process.

This mixed-use high-rise residential complex is intended to provide a modern urban way of life in the fast-growing city of bhubaneswar. By combining residential, commercial, and recreational activities within a single vertical building, the project responds to the growing need for space-saving, community-based development in the city’s emerging metropolitan landscape.

Immediately above the commercial area, a nicely organized terrace garden is included, acting as a leisure and party zone. Straddling this rooftop garden, the building goes on to feature expansive 3 bhk and 4 bhk apartments tailored for comfortable family accommodation. These homes provide contemporary amenities such as several bedrooms, ventilated living and dining spaces, balconies, and numerous bathrooms.

This is structured as two basement levels, linked through gentle ramps that allow easy vehicle movement. The basement levels are reserved mainly for car parking to accommodate sufficient space for residents and guests, which minimizes surface traffic. Aside from parking, the basement must contain key service and utility spaces like electrical rooms, water reservoirs, pump rooms, and maintenance spaces. The building is supported by a retaining wall system and a robust foundation system for the load of the residential and commercial floors above. The basement plan maximizes the use of space on the ground floor while ensuring the efficiency of the building.
